Dinner Post
I’m having a problem getting SDL2’s Renderer to work. So I’m behind. Oh well, that’s Ludum Dare for ya!
But, here’s some pics:

Where are we suppose to vote?? What does this mean?!

I was at GDC this past week and learned a lot about an interesting engine called DeFold, http://www.defold.com/. It’s focused on 2D games, and has a lot of features that seem like a natural fit for gamejams:
– small foot print
– fast performance
– runs on HTML5, OSX, Windows, Linux, even iOS and Android
– Hot reloading (replace assets while game is running.)
– Tile editor
– Particle editor
– GUI editor
– Spine support (http://esotericsoftware.com/spine-in-depth)
– Lua Scripting
– Built in editor and debugger, but you can use other IDEs.
I’m going to learn as much as I can by April and try it out for LD38. Does anyone have any experience using it? Any tips or great tutorials I should check out?
See you in April!

My goals are:
– Make a platformer, I have this idea for an rogue-like-runner (This would be a first)
– using the DeFold engine (This would be a first)
– Streaming on Twitch
– Developing on Mac for the first time (This would be a first)
Well, I couldn’t figure out how to get my capture card to work with my Mac. So, I’m dumping the capture card and the Mac and going do everything on my Windows laptop.
Super irritating, THANK INTELS:

Copy Protect Content, thank you for your money.
New Goals:
* Use the DeFold engine (This would be a first)

I just spent the last three hours or so setting up my capture card so I could develop LD38 on my new (to me) Mac laptop. But, no go, due to this: http://i.imgur.com/LTF51CI.png

I'm excited to be using Game Maker for this Ludum Dare. I've been learning and practicing all month, so I'm hopeful I'll get something playable done. This will be my ... well.... I'm not sure... 13... 14... 15th? Ludum Dare? Forgive me, my first one was Ludum Dare 6, way back in 2005. Amazing!

I made a game that mashed Roguelike with Tower Defense! You are a magician trapped in a maze built to punish you from Crimes Again Magic. I think you'll find it very hard!

I used Game Maker 2. It was my first time gamejamming with Game Maker and I think it preformed very well. I can see using it again.
I also think the game has a lot of potential and I have a lot of ideas about how I can expand it. If people like it, then I'll make a post-compo version.
Great Gamejam! Thanks Mike!

I'm pretty excited for this Ludum Dare! There are two main reasons.
1) I'm rested and my weekend is 100% free!
2) I'm using the Godot engine for the first time. I've been reading the manual and doing tutorials for the last month or so. I'm feeling pretty optimistic about how productive I'll be with it.
Make Games!

I want to use AI but I'm not sure it is allowed??
I've got a skeleton of the game working.
I tried uploading and image, but it doesn't look like it worked :(
Edit: There I got it to work.... although it much bigger than I expected.
