This was my first time participating at a game jam and managing to finish my game. I coded during 30 hours, I think, normally I don't have so much time to code. I directly started adding all the code for the rendering, the code was ugly, but it works, so I directly started adding all the features I planned to the game, and ticking things in a Todo list really motivated me to continue, so that was a good idea. I never cleaned up my code, as long as it worked I continued adding things, so I was done at the end of day 2 and added some finishing touches like animations and better pixel art on day 3. Sadly I was unable to improve all the pixel art.
I think that it helped me to just add everything first and worry about everything else after having a complete game, with all the planned mechanics.
I also learned that you need to care about draw calls when preparing a web version.

I just fixed the web build, so I made an itch.io page. I only updated code related to the web version to make it work properly (I fixed the graphical bug and added sound, it was only available to the native version up to now, I’m not sure if it’s ok, but say it if it’s not and I’ll remove it), so the native version stays the same, so it should be fair because:
Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players.
The download stays the same.
I'm planning to upload a time-lapse soon!
Enjoy playing it at https://mibi88.itch.io/the-seven-crystals!
You can see the changes on the GitHub repository!

That's what I fixed: * Bullets still existed after restarting the game or changing level * Mobs could shoot without existing * Mobs still existed after changing level

Like last time, I wrote my game in ANSI C with the SDL and OpenGL, and provided a Linux build.
I just finished a web port of my game Antwars (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/antwars).
Play it on itch.io: https://mibi88.itch.io/antwars

I'm unhappy with my game, I had cool ideas but went with the simplest one, and it was a bad decision and I was way waay to tired.

As I wrote in the README of my game:
I'm unhappy with what I got done this week end... My neural network idea is way cooler, but i was scared that it would be too complicated for the two days I have... My game didn't turned out so well, and it feels more like a regression than an amelioration... Even if Antwars also kinda sucked, it was quite polished for a game made in two days...
I'm still posting this game, and expecting honest and constructive feedback. After all, it was probably a very helpfull lesson to code this game: I should have gone, as for the LD55 and LD56 with an ambitious idea, it may have also sucked, but it probably couldn't have been that worse!
My game engine also wasn't ready at all, I hope that in october, for the LD58 it will be ready! I found quite a lot of bugs with it while coding this game, which slowed me down. I think I would have been better off if I wrote everything from scratch, but it is not that cool, and it gave me the occasion to try and make a game (finally) with my engine, if it can even be called an engine.
I've recorded everything so I'll make a timelapse soon, and I'm planning to make a web (and/or maybe a windows) version soon, my engine currently only works on linux.

I just made a web build of my game with emscripten!
Are you a good allocator?

It is about being an allocator.

(for some reason YouTube heavily compressed it, except when watching in 4K it looks particularly ugly)

That said, 4019 lines of code with the boilerplate rendering code, but I wrote it during the jam nonetheless.
I doubted I would finish it, especially since the last week had been very tiring. I basically coded a rudimentary version of logisim.

Here is the game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/59/world-of-gates
I hope you will have a little bit of fun with it.
