I've crawled through the slaughter

I've done, it made it through unscathed... mostly... I had to say yes to "What are the chances?" because what are the chances it would have been the last theme? :D

So, we're sellin' our souls? :P
...little children should not be out at night, for their life he will detach, and their soul he will snatch, and to hell their innocent souls will dispatch.
A valient hero, you are not, for YOU are the Kindercatch. You must devour the souls of pesky children who sneak out at night to pay your soul debt to the dark gods and remain on Earth another day. But beware, being the Kindercatch is not without risk.

As the end of Day 2 comes to a close, the Kindercatch is coming closer to looking like a game thanks to the artists...

I will be streaming some Kindercatch dev tonight for my LD44 game; http://www.twitch.tv/lillybyte
Come, hang out, chill, have a text-based laugh, lol.
Devs of Ludum Dare, hear me! The enemy stands before you, and they wait. Demotivation. Life Interrupted. Sickness. Stress. Anxiety. A terrible theme. All manners of vile and villainous demons await to thwart us from glory. I assure you coder, artist, musician, designer, animator, writer, and sound engineer alike, they wait for you, they wait for us! When you go forth into battle this weekend and face your rekoning... when we face our rekoning... realize, some of us may fall. I dread for our fates, for what may come. I dread for those who shall lay scarred and beaten. Proud Devs of Ludum Dare, may you never see yourself in such a precarious position! But, should you find yourself beaten and bruised and unable to push forward, remember, it is better to have fallen in glory than to have done nothing. Devs of Ludum Dare, hear me! Do not let folly and cowardice sway you from battle! Do not let the Demons of Life tear you from destiny! Do not let the advocates of failure lure you to dwell in the City of Quit! Those of you who stand and fight, you may feel alone, but scroll up and scroll down, you are not alone! Side by side, above and below, we stand strong in the face of battle and we will all fight the good fight until there is nothing else to be done but either fall to the enemy before us or see the light of the Submit Button at the end of the battle!
We are the Devs of Ludum Dare!
We shall see the fight to the end!
We shall overcome this weekend!
We shall see Submission of our games!
Now, prepare for battle!
This will be LD numero seven for me; and I am looking forward to creating a terrible game with my team mates!
We'll be using the Godot Engine, which I have (personally) grown very much of fond of-- and a few other tools, depending. It's likely going to be a 2D game; maybe the last 2D game I do because of the fabulous 3D updates coming to Godot which will make it more viable for 3D.
The only thing that will stop me submitting a game, regardless of how terrible it may be, is natural disaster or death. I hope I didn't jinx myself!
Of course, I'll be streaming on and off over the weekend, you can catch up with me on Twitter, Twitch, etc.
If you will be streaming Ludum Dare, or game dev in general on Twitch, drop your link in my comments so I can follow you! :)
Progress, or something! :D
Our project is slowly coming together... piece by piece...

The framework for the game is, more or less, complete; we just need to start putting something in here that resembles a game. Though, I feel it's going to be more of an experience than something you win or lose...
It's a retro adventure! It's an escape room! It's a linear story! It's thought provoking! It's... it's... not nearly as good as I'm making it sound...
We started with nothing and ended with something, but we don't know what that something is!

This Ludum Dare will be the war of hamsters in wheels... or groundhogs in time.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm joining this round, just in case... I come prepared!
I built an AI-powered "game idea generator"... and no matter what the theme is, I can throw the theme at it, and it'll pump out as many ideas based on that theme I could ever want.
Bring on your hardest and most ridiculous themes, LD!
Way back when, in LD53 there was a jam with the theme "combine two incompatible game genres". Many people were combining all sorts of games. Being the unstable and brave soul that I am, I combined THE most incompatible game types: a board game with a platformer. Just imagine if you took the card, dice, and style of one of your childhood board games and then mixed it up with something like a time pressure platformer of the 1990s... what would you get?
You'd get Platboarder!
Since that jam, the idea kept recurring in my head and I was thinking, "There might be something to this. Maybe?" So, recently, I presented the game to a new, indie studio startup and it was released as a short, casual and family friendly indie game on Steam.
While the game is up in its basic form, we are 100% adding a lot more levels, more board mechanics, new cards, and most importantly... a level/campaign Editor which will allow people to torture their friends and family-alike with custom campaigns.
The game is just a couple bucks, and buying it will give me space to continue developing features in the long term, beyond the next update (which will be the level editor and a couple new mechanics). I'd really like to see how far I can take this particular game-- it's such a dumb idea, but I absolutely love it.
Also, while the game is designed to 'push' you and make you feel 'intensity' to get through each level, I made sure it can also be configured to be a super chill untimed leisure game, suitable to entertain even children of all ages.
Also, I hope you fall in love with our adorable little board pawn.
