Way back from Ludum 53... to Steam...
Way back when, in LD53 there was a jam with the theme "combine two incompatible game genres". Many people were combining all sorts of games. Being the unstable and brave soul that I am, I combined THE most incompatible game types: a board game with a platformer. Just imagine if you took the card, dice, and style of one of your childhood board games and then mixed it up with something like a time pressure platformer of the 1990s... what would you get?
You'd get Platboarder!
Since that jam, the idea kept recurring in my head and I was thinking, "There might be something to this. Maybe?" So, recently, I presented the game to a new, indie studio startup and it was released as a short, casual and family friendly indie game on Steam.
While the game is up in its basic form, we are 100% adding a lot more levels, more board mechanics, new cards, and most importantly... a level/campaign Editor which will allow people to torture their friends and family-alike with custom campaigns.
The game is just a couple bucks, and buying it will give me space to continue developing features in the long term, beyond the next update (which will be the level editor and a couple new mechanics). I'd really like to see how far I can take this particular game-- it's such a dumb idea, but I absolutely love it.
Also, while the game is designed to 'push' you and make you feel 'intensity' to get through each level, I made sure it can also be configured to be a super chill untimed leisure game, suitable to entertain even children of all ages.
Also, I hope you fall in love with our adorable little board pawn.
