I made the Memeco game for the itch.io Black and White Game Jam ( https://itch.io/jam/bw-jam ) during the last week. And I will continue the Memeco experiment for Ludum Dare 48 (Jam indeed, not Compo), transforming the concept in more "stages", following the "deeper and deeper" theme.

Now the concept of Memeco athropofagize the Ludum Dare 48 theme, adding new "deep stages".
The genre: just Memeco.
No walkthrough, just feel and experience it.

See the themes that appeared again with attention, between LD48 and LD49. Let's try varied and challenging themes!

Are we going to try something outside the world of programming, math and game jam games?
Maybe make a Death Stranding tribute, or an even better Death Stranding, proposing something more radical for "delivery" than what Hideo Kojima did... Or a journey similar to The Messenger... Or a pythonesque view of the reality of delivery Pizza and Uber Eats workers during the pandemic...
... Shall we try something different and uncomfortable?

What a down concept!
Ludum Dare 49 - Theme - Unstable
Team: Le YaoTang; Wilson Cotripa; Moonlher ; Estevan Fernandes.
First day - Level Design / Character Design / Blocking / Atmosphere. First steps: Test blocks without worrying too much about assets. Test and substantiate colliders and apply randomity to future teleport portals. Test music with colour palette. Still without a plot or hard game design.

What kind of "unstable mechanics"?


That is our build version for Ludum Dare 49 - Penduka v.0.07. In that build we tried hard to mid-finalize a journey for and with the player. A lot of pixel art and sounds were discarded due to the deadline. And we did it!
Our journey - For the past 3 or so days we have been involved with game design and prototyping for Ludum Dare 49. Over the weekend We were able to test the initial framework, a game design blocking proposal, the programming using blueprints in the 001 Engine (with some challenging new algorithms that worked really well) and now We are facing redesign and openness to others’ tests and their feedbacks. As the game of a team composed of an Angolan and two Brazilians, we reflect on Afro-Brazilianity and the Brazil-Angola friendship. Reflections and inflections about are present in the plot and game design. That was and is a great experience!
Version 0.07 Alerts!
Collision - Unfortunately the version 0.07 was released with crucial collision bugs. You need to avoid the following map points to go to the next ingame:

Animation - Also we have in the main character animation an animation bug - the “tall form” is not with the backside animation, however we animated it. Game mechanics - We tried to put a “timer” for day-light but due to the deadline we did not improve it in time.
We know that is a so so broken experience but please try to feel it. Try to feel Penduka!

"Harvest" as a theme was not a very creative decision by the community. Ludum Dare's community often follows the more appealing flow of what seems to be "indie", and ends up not risking much. 👍For example, "delivery" could have been a great choice for this game jam, which would push the creativity of the entire community.
