I am so loving pyglet! Notice the multiple windows, not easily done in pygame!!!

I forgot to mention I have a name for my RPG too. It’s called Simple Dungeon. It should be extremely minimalist (compared to Final Fantasy anyway).
And I can’t figure out how to upload my code. It doesn’t seem to like zips or rars. So I’m just going to upload a screenshot of my code since I don’t have any game to show yet.
10:00
Woke up to check the theme and then went back to bed.
11:10
I got up from the bed and I’m now waiting for coffee machine to do
its thing. I thought maybe I could win the theme category by not
submitting an entry at all. That should be pretty minimal?
Naturally I would fail every other aspect. Oh well, I guess I’ll
still try to make a bit better effort.
11:40
I’m finished!

Wow. Not very impressive. lots of boxes. But I am resurrecting an idea from LD6 (i think) that I gave up on on the first day.. in a more minimal form. It’s a rhythm game, kind of. Anyways, was able to create a class called “Beatronome” which I think is the best class name I’ve ever come up with, so I consider today a success.
In just over an hour, including player movement. Not too bad. (Although I’ve spent like 10 minutes on this post. Gah!) I’m going to have a dinner break now, and then spend my remaining 2 hours on actual gameplay.
I know, I know, it’s ugly as sin. My artistic skills are, uh, minimalist. The character at least definitely needs work.
The gameplay currently consists of moving left and right until you get bored. A Sokoban-ish clone with gravity is the planned gameplay. E.T.’s Ugly Twin here will be able to lift blocks above his head and place them down, either to make his way to the exit (by building piles / filling in holes) or to crush monsters. Because, as everyone’s favourite anti-games lawyer idiot knows, no game is complete without at least a little bit of ultra-violence
Minimalism is present in at least the following ways:
There are others, but I’ll leave them up to you to guess!

I still haven’t come up with any good (and fun) game ideas that fits the theme. I have come up with a few other ideas, but most of those I felt required too much from the graphics drawing side. So I still haven’t done anything, really. Motivation has been dwindling. But still much time left, and we’ll see.
I have had lunch, though.
The mashed potatoes taste much better than they look.

Mmm chocolate eggs.
On the screen you can see 200 oil spills (circles) pushing each other away to a distance, thats about the maximum amount possible ATM. I’m investigating dynamic sectors to solve the performance issue. The oil is moving slow so they don’t need to update their sector every frame. perhaps once every two seconds.

Very minimalist — also should only take an hour or two to code the base program and clean it up (which is good considering my life situation)
So here I go
The day is over already?!
I’m sort of doing Bezerk meets Portal – trying to take what made those games fun and strip it to the core. After hours of fiddling with my sound recording stuff I ended up doing text to speech for the 15 riveting ‘story points’.. now can I get them all into the game tomorrow?!
Btw, I’m using this neat 2D gamemaker that some cool guy made. It’s higher level than what I usually use for LD (vanilla Clanlib) but it’s really nice being able to focus on story/gameplay without worrying about little crap all the time. Although I did spend like 3 hours adding some missing joystick stuff, erm.
So this is what I have so far. A skating game / platformer with 2-bit graphics. Gameplay elements are rather minimal at this point. Oh, and those things floating in the air are rails to grind on, in case that’s not apparent.

Ok, now I have an Idea, a screenshot and gravitation… Sweet!![]()
EDIT: Wow, that is not my screenshot, and I don’t know how it got there.

Yawn, good morning everyone. Just got up and decided to check the compo out. A fun theme I feel, though sadly I have a friend birthdayparty today so that will eat most of the time from this weekend :(. But I think I’ll try to whip something up and running anyway =). Now to think of an idea..
Well, I finally got an idea and started coding. I’m nowhere near having a working game, but the basic gameloop is there and most of the basic classes exist in at least skeletal form.
Primary TODO:
Make some simple graphics so I can start to test stuff.
Start to handle user input properly
Interaction between the Triangles and other guys
Interface of some kind.
Alright, so after much working on backend stuff and much slacking off I have enough of my system in place to render stuff! Behold my lines of doom, and tremble! Well, not really. More to come soon though
As it turns out I hadn’t eaten in a while and that was making it hard to focus and continue; but pasta to the rescue!
Mm, breakfast [while everyone else is] in bed. I’ve got most of the core graphics engine design issues resolved for now; proceeding blindly ahead to get the rendering code I want now, and then I’ll be building gameplay.
