I have modified Devon’s clock program to update in realtime, and countdown till the end rather than increment from zero.  It also shows the time on the window/startbar, and uses few cycles (in pygame1.8 at least).

Well, some of my other ideas, I don’t think would mesh well with minimalist, but at least its a theme that might allow me to actually make something. I’ve worked on a minimalist type game before, but I’ll need to do something different this time around.

Anyway, figured I’d post a picture of my Laptop:

I’ll be working here for the next couple of hours, and then I’m going to sleep. Of course, in the morning, I’m heading back home to visit my Dad. Not sure how much work I’ll get done there. Just have to see if I can at least put the start of something together in the next couple of hours.

Game in under 4 hours. Pretty minimal. Grab the final version here (includes sources). Needs SDL, SDL_mixer, SDL_image and GLee to compile.

I made a list of the probable theme winners yesterday and I pretty much had ideas for all of them.

Except Minimalist.

So I’ll probably just take one of my other ideas…. and minimize it.

Oh well.  Time to get crackin’.

A sketch of the title screen.

This will be a 2d topdown boat game in flash. Isolate oil spills with dividers. All graphics and sound are kept minimalistic and simple. If stuff goes quick and I have a playable semicomplete game today I will try make it multiplayer.

The name Exxon comes from a oils spill disaster in the USA.

My wife works alot this weekend, and we have a 4 year old. But minimalist – can’t resist that. Now what to do.

This topic is tough, but I think I got something worth doing. Hope it works out. It turns out that the weather here is turning bad in Seattle (snow expected) and my wife is busy with other things this weekend. No excuses!

This is my first time doing one of these things, so I hope I do well.

Well, even though I ate dinner very recently, I’m already eating again. Here we have frosted mini-wheats, a piece of french bread, and a banana. The notebook is covered in brainstorms about the theme.

Also, I bought this water jug today for the compo – I’ve already knocked out a few glasses, and I will try to take pictures as it progresses down. It is 2.5 gallons – I wonder how far I will get on it in 48 hours.

I decided to enter about an hour before the competition started.  I have an idea, but well see in the next 2 days if its more than I have time for.  It’s an idea I had some time back that I never got around to, due to time being eaten up by a much larger project.  Also, hopefully I won’t drink too much in the bowling tournament tomorrow…

Step 1: Leave the computer to start making some coffee.

Step 2: Return to computer while coffee is pouring.

Step 3: Completely zone-out making minimal techno with freebirth.

Step 4: Return, to find … er … not a minimal amount of coffee. Everywhere.

Just woke up and saw that the theme is “minimalist”. I’ll start with some coffee and breakfast, then I’m off to a rehearsal day with the Nijmegen university orchestra, so I’ll have plenty of time to think before I start tonight.
