Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

I’m in!

I hope this time i can finish a game!

I’ll be using Java as always, and this time i’ll probably try to make some textures and sounds.

See ya!

hey look there’s a new website and all that well let’s post here anyway

So I’m in, or at least, team (” is, and we’ll be doing the same as last time:

Game for pico-8, tools beyond that are basically SwankyPaint (maybe) for gfx, sublime text for me for editing, git, and for LeBlane, he’ll be using vim or something.

We’re gathering now to be sure we have tools and stuff in place before we start, so we don’t spend half or more of the time getting tools ready.

I’m in

Given the amount of fun making RM -Universe was I’ll be re-entering the LD37. This time I’ll be using my own engine, not slick2D, expect more power and polish this time

I’m in

This is my first LD but not my first game-making-rodeo so lets see what happens.

I’m in for ludum dare 37, I think?

Im not sure yet cause I have a finals exam on the exact date from 6-9 pm I think. Im also wondering if it is possible to join the event starting from December 10?

Check out my games on my youtube channel? Source code included.

Tools I maybe using:

  • Pixelart – GraphicsGale, Photoshop
  • Game engine – Unity 5 (C#)
  • IDE – Visual Studio
  • Streaming or recording – OBS
  • Sound effects – SFXR, Audacity
  • Background Music – Bosca ceoil, Audacity

Yes, you can join in at any time after 9.

I’m in.

This is my first LD and I’m so excited, I just found out about this game contest. I’m still in high school, so I don’t have too much experience in making games, but I’m really interested in game development. I will be participating in The Jam with my brother.

Tools we will (probably) use:

  • Unity (C#)
  • Photoshop
  • Audacity / Soundation

Ludum Dare 37 is on!

Looking forward to the Ludum Dare 37 this week end.

Chosen poison’s.

  • Java (JInput for gamepad input,  Jorbis for .ogg playback).
  • IDE’s – Eclipse – Eldian (custom), Notepad.
  • GIT for source code and digital asset management.
  • Paint Shop Pro for pixel art.
  • Ableton Live for music.
  • Audacity for sound effect and audio processing.
  • MIG (custom command line tool for processing source code of multiple projects).
  • Water soluble color pencils and various art materials.

More than likely be another 2D Pixel Art based affair.

Ladies and Gentlemen be ready to get your engines started.

:-)

I’m In.

Second Ludum Dare, hoping to finish this time and submit. Good luck to everyone.

Tools:

  • Unity
  • Blender
  • Audacity
  • Paint.NET

Just wanted to say this.

I’m definitely in.

After formally joining the game dev industry June of this year, I still want to make another visual novel.

So, bring it on!

I’m in?

I’ll try to work up the motivation to jump in and actually make something for once!

I’ll be using

  • C++ with SFML OR C with Martin Cohen’s Punity (https://github.com/martincohen/Punity)
  • Aseprite / Photoshop
  • BFXR / My voice + Audacity
  • Visual Studio (Windows) / QT Creator (or learn emacs) + CMake (Linux)

Good luck!

I’m in, after a long pause

It has been a lot of time since my last participation.
I’m deciding to make a game as a souvenir of 2016’s closing ceremony.

To make thing simple, I’m going to use SFML as start point. And write some helper functions such as loggers  before the event (if I can find some time in the week).

Not sure what other tools to use.

And add an extra goal to learn new things: write some dialogs this time.

I am in!

Hey, 6th time for me I think. Gonna use Unity. I might do this one with my team but It’s not certain. Good Luck to everyone! Just participate guys.

I’m in!

This will be my 5th Ludum Dare, but more excitingly for me, this will be the first LD without any guilty feelings of “I should be studying” as I just graduated. So now, minus any distraction from my kids, I should be looking at a nice couple of days of solid game dev :)

I’ll be using:

  • Java w/ Eclipse
  • LWJGL3 / OpenAL
  • Paint.net
  • Abundant Music (haven’t used this before, but looks simple enough).

In the past I created and tried to maintain a small library project on github with basic boiler plate code for LWJGL. The idea is to get started on the day much quicker, so I don’t need to do things like texture loading, sprite rendering and setting up shaders. The library isn’t complete and not particularly well coded, but if I get time this week I think I’ll try and add to it.  The project location is:

LDLibrary https://github.com/LintfordPickle/Java-LDLibraryGL

New lighting “engine” version!

newLight

It may not look like much but it is much better!

The “engine” can handle multiple light strengths now and just looks better.

So dowload the lighting “engine” now free of charge and get the old one for free!

what a deal!

I’m in, This is gonna be fun!

I missed the last LD because I was moving into college. But now, I’LL BE STREAMING THE WHOLE THING.

The tools I’ll use will be…

  • Game Maker: Studio 1.4 or Love2D (maybe even p5.js) I haven’t decided yet :p
  • Figure, that’s a music loop app.
  • SFXR, for sound effects.
  • Aseprite, sprites and animations.
  • GIMP or Photoshop, backgrounds and concepts.

Ludum Dare compos are always fun! I can’t wait to play all the games.

Make sure to check out this page to get to know me better!

Good luck to all!

**LD37:** Theme Voting and what to expect

Hi everyone!

At long last, the Final Week is upon us. :fireworks:

Theme Voting has kicked off. We're doing 3 rounds of 16 themes each (48 total) and a Final Round of the Top 16 of those 48. The 2nd Round will kick-off later tonight, the 3rd Round on Tuesday, and the Final Round Wednesday Night (roughly 48 hours before Ludum Dare starts).

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/37/theme/

Shout-out to @rnlf, @voxel, @the31, @tijn, and @sorceress for helping me find and remove the duplicates from the theme list (TODO: make @names work). Here's a look at the surprise credits page they left for me in the spreadsheet:

http://ludumdare.com/compo/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/silly-cats.png

Silly.

So, what's coming up?

Like I said a few weeks back, this will be one of the rougher Ludum Dare events we've run in years. That mainly involves waiting and a lack of a lot of polish.

Theme Selection aside, the most important feature of a Ludum Dare is being able to submit a game. That is at the center of what I'm focused on right now. That said, I want to make sure that we one-up the old website by having the ability to submit Team Games. If you solo that's less of a big deal, but we've officially allowed team games for over 5 years now, and the old system has never felt right there.

I'll come back to this.

Now the other important thing is Judging. Judging will not start immediately after the event ends (as it usually does). But rather than outright cancelling Judging, I hope you agree that Late-Judging is better than no Judging. My safe estimate is it will start the Friday after Ludum Dare, but I will be shooting for much sooner (be forewarned, I might end up sleeping-all-day the Tuesday after Ludum Dare,).

So this is what I mean by a rougher Ludum Dare. One lacking the polish, promptness, and refinement that we all expect.

The key here is that I want us to go through as much of the Ludum Dare process as possible. This is a brand new website written from scratch, from the ground up. This time around, I want us to be able to catch issues, and fix them outright, instead of compromising with WordPress hacks as we've done for the past 9 years. And it's also fully open source, so it's something we can fix together.

Breakdown

Things to expect

  • Following Users, and making Friends (i.e. mutually following each other is considered a Friend)
  • Creating a Game Page for your Submission (the way you make a Team game is by adding Friends to a game)
  • Making blog posts attached to your solo/shared game (Hey BTW, this and all posts/pages use Markdown now)
  • Adding links to downloads/etc to your game
  • "Publishing" your game to the Compo or the Jam

Things that will follow as soon as they're ready

  • Image Uploading - This is coming! It might be a little janky at first (Game Screenshots Only), but eventually it will be good for everything.
  • Comments - These are also coming! Commenting is a key part of Judging, and the whole feedback process. They're just slightly less important than submitting games.
  • Notifications - This may slip to just-after Judging starts, but if you notice the speech bubble in the navigation bar, it has a home.

I'll have more to say on these individual features as they become available.

Thanks again everyone for your patience, and I hope you enjoy yourself this weekend! :D

Hello This is my 7th time, I will be using Linux OS.

Unity 5.4 for the game engine

Blender 2.7 for the 3d modeling

Gimp 2.8 for the art

Mac OS Garage Band / Linux OS lMMS for the Music and sound effects.

Enjoy the Game.

Welcome!

EDITED: 2D Artist looking for a team, so hopefully I’m in!

Hello world! This’ll be my very first LD, but what I lack in experience, I make up for in enthusiasm! Sadly, I cannot work alone as I have little to no experience in coding, that’ll be a skill I’ll be tackling someday (soon I hope!). But for now, I think I’m not too shabby as 2D artist and I work pretty fast! If you guys want to view some of my work, please, feel free to visit my portfolio site?

http://candicego.tumblr.com/

For now, I am really excited to see everyone and hopefully get to join!

Tools I can utilize:

Photoshop, Illustrator, Paint Tool SAI, A little bit of Flash

EDIT: I’ve been integrated and will be working with a team this LD! Thank you and the best of luck to all joining!

I’m (Hopefully) in

Hello, everyone.

I was hesitant during previous compos but finally decided to give it a try. I’m still very skeptical about making competent game, I’m not even sure about having free time during this weekend, but it still looks like fun activity.

My tools:

  • Godot – to make a game and maybe even embed it into browser
  • Krita or Gimp – to draw some lovely programmer art
  • LMMS or SunVox – to make some sweet tunes (or maybe I’ll just use some of the music I’ve made like 10 years ago)
  • FreeMind – to free my mind

So yeah, now there’s no going back for me (we’ll see through).

In

Can’t wait to start and do something this weekend!

I will use Emacs as an editor, pinta for sprites, audacity and jfxr for audio and music. I will use my framework for html5, magic, which you can find here.

And that’s about it. Hope this will be a fun weekend and that everything will be fine on the new website.

In the meantime, you could take a look at my itch page, if you want.

Composer and sound designer

Hello everyone!

My name is Rodrigo Faleiros, but to make it easier, just call me Rod. I’m a composer, orchestra conductor and arranger, sound designer and music producer from Brazil.

I’d really like to participate in this jam and if anyone needs a hand with songs and sounds, feel free to contact me through here or by e-mail – rodfaleiros@gmail.com.

If you need to see any of my productions, there’s a few over my website – www.waggingtail.com.br (sorry, only in portuguese for now) – or in my YouTube channel – www.youtube.com/rodfaleiros

Thanks, hugs and let’s jam!

I’m in!

This will be my first ludum dare and also my first game creation contest too!

my tools will be:

  • GameMaker
  • Paint.Net
  • Audacity

During the next days, I think, I’ll try to develop something, that is provided with somekind of AI … I’m quite excited about how to manage this in 72h.

Count me in!

Hello beautyful gaming comunity! I’m Lucas Arruda(on the new site, my nick is viralexploit), a guy from Brazil, and the LD 37 will be my FIRST GAME JAM EVER!

I’ll try to enter the Jam, because of my lack of experience, and I’ll definately try to surprise you guys!
Oh, by the way, I’ll stream my work on my twitch on Friday and Sunday (will not stream Saturday), so for me it will be something like a Compo xD

I’ll work with Gamemaker Studio + PyxelEdit + a lot of criativity (Lol) , soooo … if any of you guys want to go and watch me tear my hair off, be welcomed o/

Cheers, and have a nice LD#37 o
… and christmas … of course.

I’m In

I didn’t even realize there was an LD coming up until yesterday, so… yeah. But I’m in anyway! I’ll be using my usual tools of Unity, GarageBand &/or famitracker, Sketchbook Pro, Blender?, BFXR, maybe some other stuff. I have a brunch to go to Sunday, so I’ll have to work quickly this time! Hoping to make something better than last time; tbh I was a little disappointed with last LD but the themes seem much better this time around! Will be doing some warmup stuff today and the days following. Good luck to everyone! Glad to see PoV is back at the wheel as well; hopefully everything will go well with the new site!

I’m in, once again.

Hey ppl, I’m in for this LD. =)
I will be using:

Unity
Pyxel
Some random music generator (don’t know yet)
some random sfx generator

If you are an artist and is looking for someone to team-up, I’m up to. But I can only work for the compo dead line. Which means, that I need to finish it on Sunday.

Drop me a msg at, seththefirst@gmail.com
I can speak, English, Spanish and Portuguese

See you guys around.

Developed some UI tools for Unity

This will be the 5th time I participate in LD, so I thought it was time to arrive prepared at the starting line. Therefore I have made some small UI tools for Unity for something that I found myself needing over and over again. This small package can be found here on github. The .dll can be found in the release folder, the rest of the code in that other folder.

It contains two tools: first an InfoTable, that will quickly format some two column information, like stats (health : 5, ammo: 10, …). The other is called TabedWindow, and will allow you to make a window with tabs, so you can fit more menus or UI space on your screen. Finally there is a small helper function called Tuple, that InfoTable depends on.

I hope some of you find this useful. I will certainly be using these.

Happy Coding!

I’m in! But need someone.

Hey all,

I’ll be brief, I’m looking for an artist/team to join up with to some something awesome and “relaxed” (as much as a jam can be). I’m a programmer and this’ll be my 4th ludum you can find my Games here. If someone is interested and around CET time, and want a chill weekend message me 😉

I am in! (plus an open source workflow)

I am so happy that I actually get to participate in Ludum Dare this year because I’ve been in school for almost a full four years now and its taken up so much time around exams that I haven’t had any time to compete…
BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT! Because I don’t have crazy exams, but a few projects that are already wrapping up.

Anyway, during school I’ve found my favourite workflow, which is all free open source software that runs on Windows Mac and Linux. Not much but its what I’ll be using.

  • Gimp: 2D Graphics
  • Blender: 3D Graphics + Cutscenes
  • Godot: Game Engine
  • BFXR: Sound Effects
  • Audacity: Audio Editing
  • Linux Multi-Media Studio: dank beats yo (Music)

Good luck and have fun everybody!

I’m in post

I’ll be participating in a team with Lss40. We’ll be using GameMaker. I’m excited, it’s been a while!

In for LD37

Participating again for my 5th year in a row. Ready for another fun (and probably frustrating!) LD! Will be using unity.

I’M IN

This is a regular ‘im in’ post, nothing fancy)

Phaser, Ableton, Photoshop, Gonna try to stream btw…

Tags: LD37

  • Thomas Kresge – Sound/Music

Hope to make some magic happen this year!  Best of luck to everyone participating!

😀

I am SO in!

I am so ready for this LD. I’ll be using Unity as my engine, Blender for 3d models, 2d art will probably be a mix of Paint.net,  GIMP,  and Inkscape. Personally hoping for the fusion theme. It seems like you could get some really cool mechanics from that. Anyway, can’t wait to jam. Happy jamming everyone.

I’m In

I do most of my stuff in Unity3D these days, but depending on the theme, I may switch to a different toolkit just to spice things up a bit.  I’ll probably use LMMS for any audio since I’m on Linux anyways.  Best of luck to everybody, and most of all, have fun 😉

(Edit)

Full pipeline:

  • Unity 3D 5.4 (Wanted to use the new 5.5 but both the .deb and .sh installers are currently having difficulties under my distribution of Linux)
  • GIMP for all 2D graphics
  • Blender for 3D graphics (if applicable)
  • LMMS for audio

Hey,

this will be the second Ludum Dare for me and my friend as we are joining the Jam. Really excited! The last one was a lot of fun, I personally learned a lot. So I am looking forward to this experience :)

However, we have a problem. Our “audio guy” is not able to be part of this Jam so we are currently looking for someone who would join us.

If you are interested or just want to know more informations, you can check out our previous/first Ludum Dare entry and contact me on mato2691997@gmail.com

Thank you! Have a nice day :)

My first (real) LD! I’m thinking I’d like to make something in Javascript, but since I don’t know where to host stuff, I’ll probably end up using Scratch instead.

How to **Make Teams**

NOTE: Several of the features mentioned in this post are unavailable or disabled at the time of this writing. They should become available soon. I'm posting this early, so it comes after the welcome post.

:rightfacingfist::leftfacingfist:

To make a team, each member of your team should create an account here on ldjam.com. To create an account, click the Create Account button at the top of the page.

Once each of you have accounts, the next step is to become friends (ahem, on the website). To do that, you need to visit each other's user pages, and follow each other. You can access your own user page by clicking the "person" button in the top-right corner of the screen (That's your avatar, at least, until image uploading works).

Once you both follow each other, the blue Following button on your team-members user page will become a green Friend button.

You might need to refresh (bug), but if you see that, you did it correctly. Good job.

Creating the Game

NOTE: This feature is not yet enabled.

The next step is to have one of your team members click the Join Event button at the top of the page, and create a game.

You now have a button that links to your Game Page. Click that.

Adding Team Members

Editing the Game Page

NOTE: This feature is not yet enabled.

For now, I would recommend picking one of your team to be the one that edits the Game Page. It should work for everyone, but I can't guarentee you wont accidentially overwrite each others work (yet). If you do decide to take turns editing, be sure to confirm that no one else on your team is editing, and reload the page (bugs).

Sounds amazing! I’ll definitely have to check it out once it’s done 😛

Welcome to **Ludum Dare 37**

:astonished: Hey everybody!

Final Round Theme Voting is live! Head over here to cast your vote:

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/37/theme

:ballotbox::ballotbox::ballot_box:

Holy cow! New website! OMG!

Ha, it's almost a website.

Many of the features you'd expect probably don't work yet. Why run an event at all with an unfinished website? Well, there's nothing quite like a deadline to get things done, am-i-rite? Have you heard of this thing called Ludum Dare?

I'd recommend reading some of the later posts to get a better idea of what's going on, and what to expect. It wont be pretty, and it's already been a little rough, but it's getting there one commit at a time.

But before I move on, I need to give a shoutout to @stormburpee. It's thanks to him we the nice fancy countdown clock. The clock was also the first major contribution to the Ludum Dare open source project on GitHub. That's not to say the Toolchain is ready for prime time. The things he had to deal with are pretty nuts. But things are starting to get things cleared up. Right now, focus on game making. You can join me doing website making another day. :sunglasses:

Keynote by @sheepolution

Finally! I originally promised @sheepolution he'd get to do the August Ludum Dare keynote, but it didn't seem fair to impose my promise on those that ran the August event. But now that I have returned, it's time to make things right. It's kenote time!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOcstOra19w

That's it for now. We'll see you Friday.

Composer/Sound Designer looking for team

Hey, i’m a chiptune composer/producer, but i can also switch styles a bit to fit other members of a team.
I’m looking for a team to join, since games without code and art are pretty rare. I’d gladly help you with your game idea, and maybe even make it even better with my ideas/music/sfx.

that’s right, I’m in. Maybe, depending on the theme. This time going solo. Pretty busy weekend so probably won’t have as much time as I want to work on it, and i’ll be on a laptop for the majority of it, so yea. Pretty much same tools as last time: DLang, my personal engine, and Spacemacs. Probably just going to whip up some font and use it as I’m not good at art.

nice title :)

I’m In again.

I’m returning again for my second LD.  It’s been 2 years since my first run and I’m excited to try again!

Tools:  Construct2, GIMP.  Still deciding on what to do for sound (last time I just recorded my 8-year-old daughter making the sound effects).

In for the Solo Dolo

This time around I’m going to go for the solo. LD37 will be my 9th attempt overall and my 4th attempt at solo. I will have my apartment to myself for most of Saturday and Sunday, so I will be able to focus on the code frenzy that is Ludum Dare! Last time around I gave up pretty quick due to time constraints and some frustration with the theme. To prevent any theme mishaps this time around I want to come up with at least 2 or 3 ‘ideas’ for each of the 16 potential themes before the announcement tomorrow evening.

I will be running with:

  • Unity for a 3D game
  • Construct 2 if it’s a 2D game
  • Photoshop for art
  • BFXR for sound effects
  • FL Studio 12 for music

Good Luck & Have fun!

Will have a go.

Busy weekend with lots of other appointments but I’ll try to do at least an 8-hour game or something.

  • Xcode
  • Photoshop
  • GarageBand
  • cfxr
  • The Fresh engine (my own)
  • Emscripten
  • Maybe Gawker, though I’m thinking of not recording the screen this time around.

I’m in for LD #37

Just realized this was happening again! Move over old weekend plans cause LD48 is in town!

Personal Goals.

  • COMPLETE.
  • Minimum Viable Product.
  • More than 1 level(If levels are applicable)
  • Menus, Pausing, Saving(I never seem to do these well)
  • Don’t think too hard, just do.

Stuff

Engine: Unity or Construct 2 … maybe Gamemaker

Software: Photoshop, Blender, Garageband … I’m forgetting stuff

Tools. Wacom & Food(I really like food)

I’ve had a bad track record. Looking to reverse my ratio of I’m in to completed jams.

Cheers & good luck everyone!

LD 37 :3 Im in

engine: Unity

art : Gimp

sounds: bfxr

Main goals : good looking menus, Sounds

:)

Possibly in? (Interested in collab)

I’m always up for a good Ludum Dare, but lately I’m more interested in teaming up with others (working by yourself can only get you so far). My current Ludum Dare record stands at 3-for-3. I’ve completed 3 events (which can be found here: Shameless Plug) and attempted 3 which didn’t go anywhere due to familial obligations preventing me from finishing, partners dropping out or fatigue from daily work taking its toll.

Programming is what I’m best at, so if there are any 2D artists out there interested in joining up with someone, hit me up. I’ll use my normal range of tools of Java and libgdx.

I’m in…

I’m in. Haven’t done it for a while. Since I’m working that weekend too, I’m using GameMaker for speed of development.

I’m (Most likely) In!

So I’m back I guess for my third solo entry and my fourth entry overall.

This is a crazy busy week for me (I’m moving soon and I have a lot of freelance work to

finish) but I’ve been improving my game-making abilities lately, so hopefully I can find the time.

Tools:

  • Gamemaker studio pro
  • Photoshop
  • Paint tool Sai
  • Audacity

My goals for this Compo:

  • Make music and sound effects! (I always run out of time for music)
  • Make pretty but economical art
  • Make something scale-able (that is easy to design additional levels for)

I’m In (I think)

My third Ludum Dare!  I will be using Unity (c#), Paint.NET, Audacity, BoscaCeoil, and probably something else to solve a problem I have yet to encounter.

Need Music and SFX?

Hi! I’m a composer and sound designer willing to participate of the upcoming jam. If you need some music and SFX maybe we can work together.

Some of my works:       https://soundcloud.com/schneider-souza     http://schneidersouza.tumblr.com/

See ya in the jam.

You should be good to go, just make sure you signed up with same email as your current account if you want to preserve the games on your account

I’m in

Good luck, everyone~

I’m in!

My first Ludum Dare, hoping for the best.

Also posting so I’ll have a reason to participate rather than just watching other people.

We’re In

We’re in for our second (third?) jam as a team.  Super excited that we can create an actual team on the new site!

We will be using:

Language: C++
Engine: Unreal Engine 4
Sound: FMOD (and probably others)
Graphics: Blender, Gimp, Krita

Our source can be found here: our git repo.

My Base Code for LD 37

Once again I will be using my base code that I have built up since LD 26. It is written in JavaScript and can be used to create HTML5/canvas games. You can find the base code on github: https://github.com/ZYXer-/base-code-2d

Features:
– a simple game loop
– mouse/keyboard input processing
– image/sound preloading

Additional classes for:
– playing sounds (using SoundManager2)
– loading and displaying PNG fonts
– particle systems
– pathfinding (using A*)
– image processing class to generate 8-bit style graphics

Since the last compo I have made fullscreen mode toggleable (with screenfull.js).

I also added a class with some procedural generation utility functions that can be used for map generation, for example Perlin Noise.

I’m distributing the code under the GPL2 license, so feel free to use any part of it for your own project. And please – like always – report any bugs 😉

I am probably in! I think….

I haven’t sleep on the university for 2 days but I am in.

C# .NET XNA  4.0 3D

Blender

Photoshop

Sfxr

Compo or Jam I don’t know yet….

I am participating in said event

I am ecstatic to be participating in my 8th Ludum Dare!

This LDJAM I’ll be using MonoGame with a branch of my own fledgling framework that I am building here: https://github.com/srakowski/coldsteel. Before the last few jams I’ve spent the days before it rewriting the thing. I’m not sure why, but it’s almost as fun as the jam itself :) Per the rules you may use it, but I doubt anyone but myself would understand it :p.

For graphics I generally use Paint.NET, Inkscape, Gimp, and good ole MS Paint.

Audio, something that is easy to neglect, will be created with SFXR, Bosca Ceoil, and Audacity.

Restoring my no-alcohol policy this jam, not because I am against drinking, but because it is too easy to get distracted when off guard.

I’m hoping to use the following schedule:

Friday night: ideation, prototypes, etc. Must button down idea and stick to it.
Saturday: gameplay and engine dev, must have a functional ugly game by the end of the day. Asset creation rule, no more than 5 minutes to create any piece of content.
Sunday: polish, polish, polish.

This was my plan last jam, but I went down a rabbit hole and ended up coding the entire game on Sunday. We’ll see how this one goes.

Vote Simplicity.

We declare our participation in this competition

We, the Congregates of the 3rd pixel, hereby establish our participation in the competition of the triannual Ludum Dare. As is customary in this society, we will formally compose an announcement of our joining.

Our toolage, as listed below, will be used to aid us in our life, liberty, and pursuit of dank memes.

  • A custom made Lua+Love2D game engine will be employed; as this engine is new, it has yet to be used in a game; it will be interesting to see how this engine pans out in a real game environment.
  • For the designing of levels, the Tiled map editor will be used.
  • Atom will be used for writing the code that will add functionality to the game.
  • Our humble artist will employ Paint.net with assistance from ProMotion 6.5. He will also attempt to stream as much of content as possible at http://www.twitch.tv/alucardx60
  • mk’s gonna autotune screaming into the mic (fami, renoise, sunvox)

We wish all of our fellow compatriots in this competition the greatest of luck, and hope that many games be made.

I’m in! [a cabin]

I’m camping during the LD weekend with some friends. It was too late to cancel. But I really wanted to participate in this LD, and I don’t have a laptop, so I’m doing something crazy. I’m going to try to program a quick game on my phone. I programmed a rough Pong clone earlier, so it’s definitely possible.

If I can get something done this time, obviously I should have been using my phone for gamedev all along 😛

IDE: Microsoft Touch Develop
Engine: game board
Libraries: I’ve created a few random [number] utility functions for my Pong clone that I plan to use as a base. In the Ludum Dare spirit I’ll package all my utility functions in a nice shared library, not that anyone else will probably ever use it.
Art: Pixly
Sound/Music – ??? – I have a music composition app with playback (Ensemble Composer), I might try to record the sound from it. I suppose any suggestions here would be appreciated.

in

here we go

In Again

In this again!

I’m going to be using the same framework code I made and used before, with an extra tweaked example!

http://gwbloom.com/dev/games/FDZvers/FDZmini-0.7.1/index2.html

Basically the framework code is what’s in the index file and the FDZ_js folder.

We’re in!

Danny and I will be participating in the Jam for the second time.

We’ll be using:

  • Unity 5.5 with ProBuilder;
  • Photoshop / Affinity Designer;
  • Blender for modelling that KITT scanner;
  • Music will be from Jukedeck or licensed assets;
  • Chiptone for SFX.

Looking forward for a weekend of fun and coding.

I’m in

Hi there. This will be my first Ludum Dare. Aim is to test my skills and knowledge in solo 48h compo.

Going to use Unity, Blender or Photoshop.

I’m in!

I’m in Ludum Dare! I have not participated in anything similar before, don’t have a team to participate with, and will be busy half of the first day of LD, but I’m in. I probably won’t submit anything exceptional, but it’ll be precious experience for me. You can check out my modest portfolio here.

I Dare! (see what I did there?)

I’m In!

My first Ludum Dare was LD17. It’s now 37! And i’m still as excited as ever to get started!

C#, Unity, Paint.net, Blender, FL Studio.

Your standard “I’m in” post

Well, this Ludum Dare should be interesting. Not feeling to great, and I’m already sleep deprived before the event even begins. But, I’ll be participating… yes I will! Hopefully I can squeeze in some shut-eye before it starts.

Tools of the trade:

  • Unity (Programming)
  • Blender (3D Modeling… if game is 3D)
  • Photoshop/Gimp (Graphics/Textures)
  • cgMusic (Music)
  • Bfxr (possibly… for sound effects)
  • Whatever else will help me on my quest to completing a game.

+ Coffee, JunkFood, Soda, Water, Splashing Water in My Face…. and numerous other tricks to keep working!

Good luck everyone!

I’m in

I’m in.

Will use Ableton Live for music composing and gapless5 for playback. Tayasui for art (or just generate geometric shapes from code), JavaScript with pixi.js for graphics. Will possibly embed a JS 6502 emulator such as 6502js to experiment with.
