ah shit here we go again

Sticking to my guns on Fragile and Pilgrimage.

Sticking to my guns on Fragile and Pilgrimage.
This is my first time signing up for a game jam, and I think I signed up but is there a way to make sure I’m in?
Hopefully I can make it this time! 33 Days to go.
With Ludum Dare having switched to 2 jams a year, the two 48h jams are closer than usual this year. We at sister community Alakajam! chose to stay on a 3-jams-per-year schedule, and you're welcome to join us for a fun week-end!
It will be held on September 20-22th, and the schedule is as follows:
Feel free to check out the results from our previous jams to get a feel for how things are run. We hope to see you there
I'm still working on my Apple II code. I released an Apple II game for the last Ludum Dare but I wasn't able to finish it. It is progressing and I'm actually starting to enjoy working under the constraints of the Apple II platform.
The game I submitted (well, more of an engine demo) only ran on an Apple IIe with expanded 128KB memory, but I've shrunk my requirements so now my code should be able to run on any Apple II. (Aside from the original 1978 version with the first set of ROMs, perhaps Autostart ROM update works but I have not tested!)
My next Apple II program was a simple animation project that is a homage to the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime. Check it out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4U1Gg--7JU
It features HGR graphics (woo, 7 color) and simple music. The music routine took the most work; It lets me have standard single-voice notes at 7 volume levels using the built-in speaker. That doesn't sound all that impressive in modern parlance, but -- trust me, for an Apple II it's hard to do that and animate graphics at the same time.
You can find all the code and disk images for this (including the music tracker I used to make the music) at my Gitlab Apple II repositories. Everything is GPL'd and my Apple II development environment works under both Windows and Linux (using the cc65 compiler toolchain).
I have tested this on real hardware, though I personally only own Apple IIes -- one original, and one Enhanced with 128KB expanded memory. If you have other models and want to try it out, do so and let me know. I'd love to hear how it went.
Anyway, I wanted to share my progress. Back to work, and can't wait for the next LD! Chained signing off!

First time for ludum dare. Im ready for this!

Hey everyone! Welcome back! I hope you had a good break. Between launching a game and taking on the responsibility of best man at my friend's wedding, I've been keeping busy. But it's good to be back.
You can sign up for the latest event right now (just login and click the join event button at the top of the page), and you can also start making theme suggestions for the upcoming event.
That's right, it's a brand new month for us: October! Ludum Dare events now happen every 6 months. Every April and October.
Also, last year we ran a bit of a test: We ran the August Ludum Dare event at an earlier time. It was so successful, that the servers couldn't handle it.
People have been asking for an EU friendlier start time for over a decade. And since the Global Game Jam came around, I've been getting requests for early-access to the theme by organizers in the EU. Early access doesn't really work for us (and I've repeated the same "no sorry" time and time again), but starting earlier is something we can do. And now, it's a permanent part of our schedule.
Ludum Dare schedules look something like this now:
The countdown clock on the right-side of the webpage should automatically convert the start time to your local time.

Yes! This is a little project I started shortly after the last event. I used to make pixel fonts back in the day, and I decided to challenge myself to make a real and proper font anyone could use.
https://github.com/mikekasprzak/font-ludum-dairy
The font itself is built using Font Forge. There's still more work to be done. The font lacks punctuation glyphs and kerning, but it should be complete enough for folks that want to create personalized Ludum Dare headlines on posters and banners.
Hopefully by Ludum Dare 46 I'll have found time to finish the punctuation glyphs. In the near term I hope to get the logo updated, and start using the numbers as well.
We used to do an event around here called the October Challenge. This was a month-long event where we challenged you to earn $1 from a game. We're not quite ready for an October Challenge just yet, but there is a reason why I scheduled the October Ludum Dare event for the first weekend of the month.
The games market has changed a lot since I started the October Challenge. Like Ludum Dare itself, it was started to light a fire under our butts to push us to finish something. When it does come back, I'd like it to be a better resource for creators.
So not yet, but there is plotting and planning to bring it back.
That's it from me. We'll see you again in a few weeks.
Can't wait to rejoin after missing a couple of LDs!

Leave a comment below with details and links to your real world gathering.
Don’t forget to tell us where in the world it is too.
Did my part. See you at the theme slaughter. Make sure there are good themes! :seenoevil:

My theme suggestions:
So...I know I'm a bit late for the party but this took me a long time to make so hear me out.
Remember the LD43 game jam almost a year ago? So I made a demake version for my LD43 game Electrocuted, it is a text-based game without graphics at all. I made this game using only C++.
So, if you have time for this please be sure to check out my demake post-jam.
Thanks! :)

I learned a couple of weeks ago that my LD36 jam game, Ancient Technologies, was selected for inclusion for an upcoming art museum exhibition.
I went back to the Jam page for the game, and tried to browse my feedback for it from the Feedback Friends site. I was hoping to excerpt some of the feedback for use with the exhibition. But when I click the link to go to the Feedback Friends page, the site serves me a picture of a kitten.
I take it that the content expired and is no longer available. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything more (like, hopefully, perhaps that it should have redirected me to a new location where I could still see my feedback.)
I was also wondering what's in store for the future of the old site? I thought the plan was to eventually migrate the content of the old site to the new site, effectively merging them in a way that made the site better for the future while still preserving its history. I hope this is still the plan. But the disappearance of the old Feedback Friends data is a bit concerning.
I asked @pov the above, who had the following to say:
I'm not super familiar with how "feedback friends" worked, nor do I remember who ran it, so I'm afraid I'm not sure who to contact. That said when we do get around to migration, if they still have the data, I can see about migrating that too.
So I'm opening it up to the community, does anyone know who set up Feedback Friends, or anything about what happened to the data from past events?
My theme suggestions are: 1. Hollow Earth Theory 2. Drug-induced Dreams 3. Fight with Flying Objects
Good luck! This is going to be the first Ludum Dare I participate in, so this will be interesting.
Looking forward to my 5th ldjam!
My suggestions: * Asteroids * Caution: Flammable * Corrupt
Good luck to everyone!
And my suggestions, fwiw:
