LD 38 April 21–24, 2017

We're IN

Apostate Games is in for our first jam as a team. Nathan Hicks has competed on past teams but will be joined by Jason Varnell this year represented as our new company.

We will be using Clickteam Fusion 2.5 for this jam. Already got a menu system in place with custom keymapping which we will be making available as a tutorial file once the jam is over.

Good luck to every one and can't wait to see some of the submissions!

4 years in the making...

Hello ludum darers, I am in for the compo, this is my second LD ever, after a 1st failed one 4 years ago. I will be using: - Unity - Blender3d - Visual Studio - Paint.net - Audiotool, audacity for any music & sound editing.

I am 4 years wiser, with 4 years more experience, hopefully this time I will make it till the end. But this time I have my almost 4 year old son for motivation :hugging:

Good Luck everyone and don't forget to sleep, eat healthy and have some fun :hearteyescat:

Four hours before LD #38 - what to do?

Oh dear, less than four hours until the contest starts... what should I do until then? Learn a new development system? Quickly implementing a game for warmup? Learn to play piano?

Ok, I'll just have a beer and calm down :-)

I'm in!

Well, my base framework I was going to use isn't even close to being ready, and all of the code is a complete mess...

But anyway, I'll be using - IDE: Kode Studio (VS Code fork) - Framework: This mess based on Kha - Language: Haxe - Graphics: I'll think about that when I manage to extinguish the fires - Audio: Same...

Hope y'all are better prepared than me. Good luck!

I'm in!

First Ludum Dare Jam!! I will be using Unity 5 and Javascript for most of my work, along with some default assets from Unity 5! Good luck to all, and may the odds EVER be in your favor!

In for number nine, but realtime or turn-based?

I'm in!

Tooling:

Engine: Unity

Art: I'm a convert; I switched from pixel art to vector art in Inkscape and I haven't gone back.

Sound: I've tried a few workflows, but these days it's Reaper, VSTi synths, and Audacity. Plus a mini MIDI controller.

I'm less sure about my base code.

I have three options:

  1. My original arcade-style base code, which I used for my first 7 LDs.
  2. My turn-based starter kit which I used last time, and in the 7DRL. But I just made two hex-based turn-based games. I feel I have a lot more to say in that space, but part of me wants to mix it up.
  3. A brand spanking new un-tested code base, meant as a complete replacement for #1.

I usually know at least whether I want to be realtime or turn-based before going in! But this time I'm going to wait to see the theme, and leave my mind open to both approaches.

2nd Ludum Dare, good luck everybody!

Ooooh fancy new site! :D

Isn't it all nice and shiny. Wonder if we'll get three overall winners again like last time? :D :D :D

Remember everyone, have fun, lose sleep and make some excuse my language damn fine games!

Good lucks! ^-^

First time in Ludum Dare!

We're in! Myself, @midup and @jnr are ready for our first Ludum Dare! Let's go! :sunglasses:

I'm In

I think this will be something like LD #12 for me. My goal is to finish on time for the second time ever, and do the 48h compo for the first time ever. My previous games are here: http://ludumdare.com/compo/author/Jedi/ I can't reuse my old name on the new site for some reason.

I'm so busy with school, I might only have a few hours to dedicate to jamming, but I'm determined to make something by keeping my scope small. I hate that I started missing Ludum Dares after I enrolled in college.

I'll be using: - Unreal Engine 4 (I'm still learning it but I want to take a break from Unity) - Blender (I never knew it well) - Paint.net - Bfxr - Not sure what else

I wish you all a happy jam!

First time jammin' with a couple of buddies!

It's gonna be a learning experience for all 3 of us!

First Participation

Hello everyone !

This Jam will be my first participation so I hope to succeed in finishing a game :D

Wish you all a good Jam, and don’t forget to have fun :)

I’ll use Java and Slick2D as I’m pretty casual with game-making for the moment !

I'm In!

This LD crept up on me, but I managed to finish a backlog of work and make some time to participate!

I'm going to be using TypeScript + HTML5 with a little starter-kit I whipped up for this jam (And future ones). You can find it on GitHub: https://github.com/64Mega/GameJamStarterKit

Very bare bones, mostly handles asset loading, canvas manipulation, simple audio and basic keyboard input.

List of tools I'll be using:

  • Code Editor: Visual Studio Code
  • Language: TypeScript
  • Build System: NPM/Webpack
  • Artwork: Aseprite
  • Sounds/Music BFXR, Famitracker

Will most likely record a timelapse of the entirety of development and upload it along with a postmortem if I happen to finish my game.

Good luck to everybody participating!

Oh Boy, here we go!

This new site is all new-fangly and smells like it just came out of the factory. Though I think it still needs some grease in the joints and polish on the chrome, it will be awesome.

I assume I’ll be using Java and libGDX to make something, since I need to brush up on my Java coding skills.

For the 11th Time, I'm in!

I'm In!

It's my 11th time and this time around I have a solid idea on what I want to attempt regardless of the theme (Though I can fit this idea into most of the final themes ).

Tools of choice:

  • Unity3D
  • Blender3D
  • Mixtikl
  • Bfxr (Think it's that)
  • Affinity Designer
  • JetBrains Rider

So, good luck everyone and have fun!! :sunglasses:

First Timer

I'm so excited for my first Ludem Dare, can't wait to dig my teeth in. Trying out Unity5. Good luck all!
