LD36 August 26–29, 2016

I’m in! :D

This time I will participate totally alone, as a personal challenge to see what I can achieve.

Engine: Unity 5.4.
Graphics: Blender if I use 3d and photoshop for art.
Sounds: Surely my internet is my friend.
Music: I’ll try my luck do it myself xD.

Waiting for LD36? Pass the time flinging spiders.

Spiders so hard to aim

Spiders …. so hard to fling

Are you fretting impatiently, waiting for the next Ludum Dare to arrive? Are you wailing and rending garments, flagellating yourself in despair? Nay, I say, instead, play games from the warmup weekend!

Spiderfling is a game I made about flinging spiders into a bucket that has a hole in it. It’s the best spider-flinging game out there, as far as I’m aware, due to my extensive market research.

spider-walkWhy is the bucket green? How come the hole doesn’t look like a hole? What now? Sorry, I already forgot the question.

Play Spiderfling

I’m not in, but Loading

Hi everyone! This is Standa, creator of “The Letterpress Imp” and “Oh My Beard“.

I won’t be participating in this LD, but if you are interested in my games, I’ve made a proper non-LD game in similar style. It’s called “Loading” and you can play it here:

http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.stanov.loading

ScreenshotPhone1

There is also a design document I made before I started to code (SPOILER ALERT, DON’T READ BEFORE PLAYING THE GAME!):

https://github.com/StaNov/LoadingGame/wiki

Have fun playing, have fun creating your game for LD36!

Standa.

Everyone else is doing these, so…

I’m in. Probably. I’ll try to do it if my schedule allows. But I’m in.

I’ve competed in one other Ludum Dare (26). I tried to enter another Ludum Dare, but I had to travel and Unity experienced a horrific crash bug on the last day of the compo, so I wasn’t able to finish.

I’ll be using Unity again, and probably making a 2D game. See, my 2D art skills are lacking–thus, imagine how horrible I must be at 3D art. Best to minimize the bad.

For art I’ll probably use Inkscape or Paint.NET or something depending on what kind of aesthetic I want.

For music I will probably use Famitracker or Sunvox–again, depending what kind of aesthetic I decide I want.

In it for the Dare!

This will be my 9th Ludum Dare participation! I’m very excited and I can’t wait to tirelessly stare at the IRC for the theme to be announced, panic when the theme is something I wasn’t expecting, then hook an IV full of coffee to my veins and work endlessly on a game that may or may not work out.

It’s important to learn – when making games – that not everything in your game is going to be the high quality you had in your mind, and in order to properly finish a project, you have to be willing to take some hits and misses with your final design. Some parts will be great, and some parts will bad. This is unavoidable, but don’t let that get you down. Look at games like Deus Ex; It’s heavily un-optimized and it’s kinda clunky, but that didn’t stop it being an amazing game! Just keep this in mind when you participate in this Ludum Dare, or future ones, or when releasing an actual game. Nothing has to be perfect to be fun!

Love you all, and good luck with the competition! Friendly

Hey, thanks for nice advice! Perfectionism can kill.

I’m in too

This will be my fifth game jam and my first (and definitely not last) Ludum Dare. I plan on submitting to the compo, even though there’s no voting.

Engines: Godot (3D) or Haxe (2D or 2.5D)
Graphics: Blender, Gimp, and mtpaint
Sound: LMMS and Audacity

McFunkypants looks like he just smoked a tree (maybe it’s the beard), but I’m sure I’ll be in worse shape after I consume caffeine from up to 5 different sources for >48 hours. It’s time to get crunked.

I’m in!

This is my first ludum dare and i’m so exiced!

I was about to comment the same thing.. hahahaha

But, please, tell me more…

Why are you using this language instead of the C# ou JS ?

Is there any particular reason ? Challenge ?

I’m in!

This’ll be my first jam! Pretty excited!

Good luck to all 😀

Another Practice Mini-Project

Probably my last practice project. Just made a little thing that’s like an endless fall, and there are some obstacles. You’ve probably seen something like it before. Added some fun Doppler effect wind swooshing when you fly past an obstacle.

Not much else to explain. It’s pretty simple.

This might be my last practice project, unless I do one right before the LD starts; I did that last time and it went pretty well, I’ll probably do it again just to get my creativity flowing on Friday.

I’m in? Most Likely!

Depending on the theme, I’ll be in this weekend. I’ve had a week of drivers ed and want to wash away the drilled-in info with some creativity!

Tools I use:

I’ve linked the location to all my tools in case you wanna do something similar! I’ll be competing in the Compo. Last time I placed 48th overall and 30-something for theme, so maybe I can do better!

Good luck and happy coding!

I’m using a pretty similar setup for my tools, am looking forward to seeing what you are able to do this time around. Materialistic Shift was pretty good.
