LD35 April 15–18, 2016

I’m in for LD35

Hey, I’m new here, but I’m in; I’ll be making a pixel game…

language: HTML + JavaScript (PHP maybe it depends)

Tools:

eclipse IDE

Audacity + sfxr for sound

Asesprite for images

good luck everyone! #firstLD

Giving it my first shot

While I’ve been making games for quite some time, I’ve always missed the timing for Ludum Dare… but not this year! After taking off Friday and Monday months in advance, I’m quite excited to participate in my first!

Professionally, I’m a C++ programmer but for my own projects I tend to use Unity or Love2D… I’m a big Lua lover. I was also considering PICO-8, but since I haven’t had much experience with it it’s certainly not a great time to learn. In the end, I’ll most likely rely on Unity though. We do get along as a couple.

Happy Ludum Daring Everyone!

Once again, I am in!

This will be my eighth time entering Ludum Dare. I am 5 for 7 for completing and submitting games so far. Let’s increase that percentage! Here are my submitted games so far: http://ludumdare.com/compo/author/disease/

My last attempt failed partly because I tried a TON of new technologies at the same time. This time around I am MUCH more familiar with the tools that I will be using. As always I will try for the Compo and take a shot at the Jam if I can’t submit in time.

Framework: Phaser

Editor: Visual Studio Code

Language: TypeScript

Audio Software: Ableton Live

Music and Sound Effect Generator: Arturia MiniBrute

Graphics Software: Photoshop

Additional Libraries: A little Phaser starter template I put together from Richard Davey’s Multi-Stage tutorial. It contains no game code and is just a quick way to get a project rolling. You can get it from my github at:

https://github.com/SyntonicStudios/PhaserMultiStageBase

To everyone else entering I’d like to wish you happy coding, and God bless my friend!

I’m in!

I’m back for my third Ludum Dare, and I’m ready. Here are the tools I’ll be using:

HTML5 (Maybe with the enchant framework if I can work out all my issues)

Sublime Text 2 (For actually coding the game)

Paint.net (For images)

Soundation.com (For making music)

Hopefully I’ll do better this time than I have in the past. I’m starting to get my strengths a little  better, and I feel confident going into this Ludum Dare.

Makin’ Stuff Look Good in LD35

ld35_im_in

Hey all! It’s been a long time (over 2 years!) since my last solo 48 hour compo, but this weekend, I am going all in! Really excited for this. I have the whole weekend open and I’ve been actively working on games for the last while so I shouldn’t be too rusty. I’m planning on doing some streaming over the weekend, and probably will be producing a time lapse video which I’ll share here.

Good luck to all! Can’t wait to quickly make video games with you!

Cheers,
@DanielJMoran

PS: I make videos about shaders and particles and stuff. I’ve released quite a few shaders and particle effects you can use in your games if you’re also developing in Unity3D, some of them look like this:

First LD! I’ve got moderate to advanced skill in the program i’ll be using (Game maker studio)  I just hope i can make a good art and music style that I and others enjoy in time to submit to Compo. Using Famitracker for music, SFXR for sfx.

We’re In

The dynamic duo of Risha and Spencer are in for this Ludum Dare Jam, after having been absent for the past few.  We plan on using Unity as the main game engine this time, with Blender and Aseprite for art.

I’m in, too!

Hey all, this will be my first Ludum Dare!

Tools:

  • Clickteam Fusion 2.5
  • FireAlpaca
  • Midi Maker

Looking forward to making a game!

Hi

This will be my 1st Ludum Dare. I just started programming a few months ago, so I’m a bit nervous about getting something done in 48 hours, but I’m going to give it a shot.

Tools: Unity, Photoshop, Maya, Logic

Goal: Get inspired for my main project.

I’m going to try to record a time-lapse as well.

I’m In! #TheJamLD35

This is my second LD, though my first one (exactly a year ago) was a failure, I couldn’t finish the game. Now I have more experience and want to keep trying and finish a game for this Jam and, more importantly, have tons of fun doing this 😀

Tools:

  • C# and Unity + Visual Studio Community 2015 + Github
  • Gimp, Paint.Net or Aseprite and art 3rd party assets.
  • Bfxr, Stagelight/Music Maker Jam

Good luck to everyone and have fun!

Thoughts on Each Final Theme …and I’m in!

I went through each theme and wrote up a game idea or a reason why I don’t like the theme: http://deathraygames.tumblr.com/post/142775660982/final-theme-voting-for-ldjam-ld35-and-my

7 green, 5 yellow, 8 red. I’m excited that there are quite a few good themes on the list!

In case it wasn’t obvious: I’m in. It will be my 11th consecutive Ludum Dare. I guess that makes me a veteran?

I’ll be working with my usual toolset:

  • JavaScript, HTML, CSS, all written in a Sublime editor and tested in Chrome.
  • For artwork I’ll be trying to do it all in Pickle (I loved Pickle 1, so I recently bought Pickle 2; I’ve seen a lot of bugs in it so far, but it’s too late to switch editors now).
  • Libraries: probably just my open source RocketBoots set of game-building tools, with jQuery, and possibly another OSS js library if I get experimental.
  • Sound/Music: Maybe bfxr for a few sounds, but it’s probably better off if I don’t attempt music and leave it quiet.

I’m also going to try to take on the additional challenge of limiting myself to 64 pixels x 64 pixels for the low rez game jam. I’m also excited to try out this color palette that I’ve admired for a while. We’ll see how it goes…

Good luck to everyone!

My fourth Dare 😀

Haxeflixel / Pixen / Bosca Ceoil / IntelliJ IDEA / Red Bull / Trail Mix / Turkey Jerky.

Let’s do this.

Ready For Ludum Dare 35 – My Second Ludum Dare

In December I entered and completed my first Ludum Dare challege. My game was for the compo portion of Ludum Dare. My first Ludum Dare game was not really good. I was proud of my accomplishment at the time, because I completed a game in 72 hours. However looking back, I know I could have done better, way better. If you want to play my Ludum Dare 34 game (warning it is really hard and has horrible controls) here it is – http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-34/?action=preview&uid=63026

This time around, I am doing the 48 hour jam. In the last three months my programming skills have improved, and I am feeling far more confident than last time. I am also confident that this Ludum Dare game no matter the theme will blow my old game out of the water. I hope to give you guys something fun to play this time around. Good luck to everyone and have fun.

Tools I will be using:

Unity

Programming Language – C#

Paint.net

sfxr

Audio Sauna

I will be working alone as usual. I’m the type that likes and really enjoys working solo on a project. I just don’t work well with others.

I’m in with a friend!

Yo!

NeonBladeBorn and myself shall be entering this LD! Yay!

Tools:

Programming: Greenfoot (Java)

Images: Paint.NET, Paint

Sound: SFXR,  TBA

Great Themes! I’m in.

I have never been excited about so many themes before. This is going to be great.

I’m working with haxe flixel, photoshop, sublime text, and Logic.

Good luck everyone!

What themes I want on LD35

It’s a good idea to post own votings here. Here’re mine.

I’m going to make a flash game again (Action Script programming language). Flash games can be very easily ported to mobile with the help of Adobe Air and Starling library.

Also I have a question: is it possible to use some of the modules, like sound player class, screens change class from my LD33 entry, as it was submitted with full source code?

Not a big deal to type these classes again from scratch, but I want to clarify this rule.

Base code is certainly allowed. According to the rules, “You’re free to start with any base-code you may have”.

LD35 is here! I’m in!

My LD34 game finished #26 overall and #6 in the audio category. I’m not sure I’ll be getting such good results this time but I’m going to try!

My toolset:

Unity3D (C#)

Sublime Text 3

Visual Studio Community 2013

Paint.NET

LMMS

bfxr

Tiled (if I need it)

TiledSharp (if I need tiled)

Streaming / other tools:

– Open Broadcaster Software

– Chronolapse + ffmpeg (I use this guide)

Twitch: bradurdung (this time with webcam!)

The themes look interesting. As always, I’ll have a great idea and then ultimately make something completely different from my original idea. Possibly a puzzle game.

I am in :)

So I suppose I will do another LD. After LD30 working very well (http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=38627) and LD31 very bad (due to the theme) I want to do my third LD and have some fun this weekend.

Tools

Engine: Unity3D 5.4b
Language: C#
IDE: Visual Studio 2015 Community
Timelapse: OBS
Graphics: Photoshop
Sound: Don´t know yet. This is always the improvisation part

I’m in!

After taking a few compos off, I’m back to try again.

GameMaker Studio, GML

Art: Paint.net, GameMaker graphics editor

Sounds: as3sfxr, bfxr

Music: ? Not sure yet

I’m in!

Hey folks! I think this will be the third(?) time I’ll be entering the LD Jam. Perhaps this time, I’ll actually finish something? Who know huh..

I’ll be programming in Haxe, using the OpenFL framework.
I’ll also try to use vector assets done in Inkscape since i suck at art.

Should be fun, right?
