LD35 April 15–18, 2016

I’ll do it.

Wow, it’s already been four months since LD #34! It feels like just yesterday I was trying  my hardest to make a game in under 3 days… Anyway, I think I’m ready to try again. This will be my second Ludum Dare, so I hope I will have better luck this time!

I’ll be using Game Maker: Studio and Aseprite for coding and visuals along with Audacity for audio.

Good luck, everyone! :)

My Body Is Ready

I’m in. This’ll be my third or fourth LD, I can’t remember. I’ll be using the following tools:

-Unity 5

-Photoshop CC

-MonoDevelop

-Audacity

Good luck fellow Ludum Dare-ers! May he force be with you.

I’m in!

And I bring my team, IXP.one, with me. That means two other guys.

We’re all coders. We’re up to some pretty bad graphics and sound, but hopefully some fun gameplay.

I’m in!

This will be my first LudumDare, and my first game! Hopefully it isn’t horrible :)

Tools:

Unity 5

Gimp

Blender(If my game is 3d)

sfxr

Thank you Muel. Good luck!

We’re in!

We’re going to try out Emscripten and make some kind of mini-MMO. Will we try to figure out Audacity and include programmer sound in our totally in-scope project? Let’s find out!

Hello, I’m in

I want participate solo, from home in Krasnoyarsk. I will use:

It’s my first LD

I hope, I have time to finish object builder for SO Engine before Saturday.

Want to make version for Windows and Android.

So, it’s my plans. Good luck to me and all other participants :-)

I’m glad delphi\pascal is in the house. Pretty rare to see nowadays!

I’m in again

Second Ludum Dare.

Again, using Unity as main environment.
I’m thinking of doing the art base on vectors, with Inkscape, and then paint it like I do always, cause my traces get trembly since I draw with the mouse.
But only if I have the time.
And I’m looking for some easy-to-learn music tool.

I’ll try to improve some things from the last one. Better time planning, set the scope on the beginning, first figure the game mechanics and then the art.
Also, if everything works fine, maybe I could try something with music.

I’m still mad cause “Kittens” theme didn’t made it. But I’ll try to do good and have fun.

Good luck to us all =)

I’m in!

I’m in! Fifth time that I’m participating (hopefully the third completion!!)

Tools:

  • Language: C
  • Graphics: KritaAsesprite, Pyxel Edit
  • Sound: sfxr
  • Text Editor: 4coder
  • Libraries: SDL2, PhysFS

I have a git repository with the source code here: https://bitbucket.org/atsmith/ld35.  The base code that I will be using can be found in this first commit: ee4a94b.

I’m in!

Let’s hope it will end better than the last LD when I gave up halfway through and then felt bad about it for the next 3 weeks.

Weapons of choice:

I suppose the Luxe/Mint samples and tests can be considered as basecode. (?)

Good luck everyone!

I’m in.

Probably using Stencyl and Paint.net. Not sure what to use for sound.

I am in once again!

I find LD super fun in a sadistic hate your sleep schedule type of way, so I am going to try to participate once again. I’ve only done 2 of these with the second one being a bust, so I am probably going to try to keep things simple and fun this time around. As usual my tools of the trade are:

Programming: GM: Studio.

Graphics: MS Paint(suck it h8trz).

Sound: BFXR, FL studio, Audacity and I may even try to compose some stuff with BeepBox.

As usual, good luck to all the doodz entering. I hope this LD will be a good time for everyone!

Yes I’m in

In again, I’ll use HaxeFlixel, Photoshop and FL Studio for sure. Maybe other tools like Spriter.

Last LD I bailed out during voting, and I’m sorry for that. I promise not to do that again.

I’m in!

Will be my second time. This time I’m going in solo and with a lot more experience.

Why? I want to show that I can handle pressure and tackle a project on my own. Also hoping to become a game developer and move on from web development.

I have a basic idea/genre of what I want to do but it will be 2D but open-minded about the possibility of 3D. My setup is as follows:

OS: Arch Linux (KDE)

IDE/Text editor: Vim

Programming: Unity3D v5.3 | HTML5 & SVG1.1 & CSS3 & JS & GSAP

Graphics: GIMP & Piskel

Sound: BFXR

Target Platforms: Linux & Windows | Web

Social/Self-promotion: @autovelop on Twitter | Autovelop on Facebook | Website

Good luck everyone and HAVE FUN!

IN

Third Ludum Dare and hopefully third compo.

Gonna try to make something a bit different on the graphic side this time. Maybe.

I’ll be coding in C or C++ idk yet… MSPaint and GIMP for the graphics, FL Studio for the music and SFXR for the SFX.

… Or maybe I’ll just use Pico-8.

I’ll be posting progress on Twitter! You can follow me if you want! Like, whatever right?

Also, I’m finishing my #LOWREZJAM entry right now but there’s still a few days for that so if you wanna make a thing that fits in 64×64 pixels, come make it! 😀

Have fun everyone!

LD35 Round 4 Theme Roundup

Let’s go ahead and get some personal opinions on the Round 4 themes…

Everything Falls Apart – The centre cannot hold, mere anarchy…er, sorry, flashed back to high school English for a moment. Anyway, I don’t know, there are certainly a lot of things that could “fall apart” like societies, platforms, puzzle blocks…If this were chosen, I could come up with something, but it doesn’t really excite me.

Limited resources – As opposed to what, unlimited resources? Can we name a game that DOESN’T involve limited resources?

Adapt to Survive – That’s kinda cool…wait, didn’t we have “Adaptation” in a previous round?

You are Hunted – Ehhh. More of a “setting” or “story” than anything else, seems to limit the game to an action sort of thing. Maybe you’re being headhunted…as in, someone wants to hire you?

Planets – Yeah, but…that’s just, like, a setting…

Time and Space – Hmmm. Well, arguably, basically ALL games are about time and space. Still, if we could talk about space travel or time travel…it’s certainly a wide open theme.

Your weapon is your Enemy – Eh, there have already been some games like this. Tumiki Fighters? Messiah? I’m not sure there’s much design space here.

It’s not a bug, it’s a Feature – Heh…Well, as amusing as this would be, I’m afraid it would be too difficult. You’d have to come up with something that seems weird, but creates interesting gameplay? I’m not sure how many people would be able to do that…

Experimentation – Speaking in the abstract, games are already all about this. Still, it might be cool to have some science experiment games.

Nature vs. Technology – Admittedly, that’s more of a “setting” than “mechanics” theme, but it DOES seem to have some interesting possibilities…

Self-Destruction – Well, it’s either one of those “stand on your own corpse” games…Or you could talk about addiction, or maybe depression. I guess that could work…

Orbiting – I don’t know, would we just end up with a lot of games about flying spaceships?

Keep Moving – Really vague.

Four Classic Elements (Fire, Water, Earth, Air) – Eh…I could come up with something, but it’s so wide open, you can basically make any game you want…

Infected – Well, there ARE a lot of zombie games. And ‘plague’ games. And even games about computer viruses. I suppose it would work.

Choose your Poison – So you’re an assassin or something? Or how about that bartender game, VA-11 HALL-A? I’m not seeing much design space, though.

Don’t be a hero – Hmmmm…There are one or two interesting ideas here, but I’m afraid we’ll see a whole bunch of the same kind of game.

Negative Space – This is a visual arts term, right? I mean, we already have the Shift games, do we need more?

Shapeshifting – That’s kind of…wait, didn’t we have “Shapeshift” in round 1?

Only 1 Shot – There are a bunch of games where you try to kill several things with one shot and some physics elements. There’s also Eminem. Beyond that, I dunno…

Programmer duo is in!

Gonna do this jam with a friend. We’re both hardcore programmers so we will see what we can come up with! Since I am more experienced (relatively speaking) with game development and game jams, I will take on the role of producing graphics and audio. We’ll stick to 2D since that is much simpler than 3D.

Engine: Unity 5
Programming language: C#
Graphics: Photoshop
SFX/music: Audacity, mouth, BFXR, SFXR, and something for music.

Since it’s the Jam we might search for some free-to-use music online, but we’ll try to stick to the Compo rules as much as possible! (More fun that way, imo)

EDIT: Forgot to link my library I use for all Unity projects. Contains some tidbits of code that makes my unity experience smoother. https://bitbucket.org/taviandir/unityextensions

Happy jammin’ !

Over the last week dhm has been ecstatic. He felt pleasure participating in the theme voting. He felt pleasure the last ludum dare theme was growing. He felt disappointed while he could not participate. he felt discouraged when he didn’t manage to produce a game for ld33. He felt blissful while participating in Ld 32.

He is in a relationship. He has two sisters. He is a worshiper of toady.

He is a citizen of France.

He is 129 years old, he was born on the 14th of April.

He likes html, javascript, the color chartreuse, and alpaca for their resemblance to a miniature llama.

He has great creativity, good analytical capabilities but he lacks focus and has a poor way with words.

He dreams of creating a great game.

I’m in!

Last Ludum Dare was a blast. I can’t wait to participate in this one!

Maybe this time I’ll take part in the jam, making the game with a friend.

As for tools, I’ll decide when I’ll have some idea for the game. It will probably be Unity3D, with Blender and Gimp for graphics.

Best of luck to everybody, and have fun!
