LD33 August 21–24, 2015

I’m probably in…

…altough I have barely done serious game developing in the last 3 years (my last ludum dare was LD23), am using outdated software, and only just now realized the LD was this weekend instead of the next one! Thankfully I get more done under pressure. Silver lining!

So basically this time I’m just entering too see what I’m still capable off, with zero expectations. I’ll probably get some practise this week. Cue the training montage music!!!

Software I will use:

GameMaker (8.0 (omgikrlikewtf0_oDx))

GIMP for graphics

sfxr for sound effects

famitracker for music if I got the time for it

I am most assuredly in, and maybe some of my crew!

Hello all,

Having spent most of my time the last few Ludum Dares making technically complicated things, I decided this time to try something a little more artistic.  After seeing the amazing (and winner of the humor category last time) Billy McMath Solves Problems, I decided it would be fun to try something simpler and in a more storytelling style.

I’ve whipped up a starting code base that uses Django and MithrilJS to allow a simple binary choose-your-own-adventure style app.  Each story node has a blob of text, an illustration, and a voiceover, as well as two choices.  Clicking on either will take you to another story node and the story diverges the further down you go in the tree.  You can find the code here:

https://github.com/dvcolgan/binarystory

Tools of the trade this time will basically be the Django admin interface for putting in text, probably Audacity for editing voiceovers, and some kind of graphics program for doing crappy illustrations.  I’ll be enlisting the help of several friends to help with the story.

I’m hoping this will be a pretty chill Ludum Dare and as usual I’ll try to stream as much of the 72 hours as I can at http://twitch.tv/dvcolgan.

Party!

I’m In!

I’m excited to be participating in my first Game Jam, Ludum Dare 33!

It is my first, too. It will be fun ?

We’re in!

Really looking forward to joining in on our first Ludem Dare! We’re going to be documenting our panic, incompetence and total mental and physical collapse through an audio log podcast as well.

There’s some great looking themes, very exiting.

We’ll be using Game maker, Logic X, GIMP, MS Paint, pens, pencils and copious amounts of coffee and beer to create a terrible mess and have a lot of fun (and maybe learn something about making games along the way).

Thanks for having us!

Always happy to see some new faces here! MS paint and GIMP :) exactly rthe same tools I’m using at work to build some fast games. You can be very productive using them.

3rd time for 33

After some concerns about scheduling, I’m in.

Tools are same as always:

Unity (2D off course, are you crazy???)

Photoshop CS6

Illustrator CS6 (for logos and graphics work)

Garageband (maybe use my guitar and bass for a soundtrack this time)

Anyways, Good Luck and Have Fun all!!!

Nice set of tools. Looking forward to play your game 😉

First LD since 26

So, what, over two years ago? Since then I’ve got a lot better at making games. Hopefully I’ll make an interesting on this weekend. My tools:

Unity (Asset store tools: InControl, Behavior Designer, A*, MasterAudio, ParticlePlayground and Prototype are all subject to being used, but not guaranteed)

Photoshop CS6

Reaper

Cannot decide if I’m going to do it in 2D or not

Hola! Well, that tool set sounds good :) If you’re uncertain which dimension to use and if you already have some experience with 2D I encourage you to try 3D (or at least 2.5D). Just to get some experience. You could start a sample mini game today to get some ideas what you can do with the new perspectives. Maybe you’ll flash us all with the result 😉

I’m in

First time here,

I code and draw some pixel art.

Out of this I’d like to be part of a community.

Thanks for reading!

So welcome to the show and I hope you’ll have fun making a cool game. It’s fun to do and you can never play enough :)

Ready to Compo.

Powering up… portals, on-line!

That’s right, I’m back and ready to dev my lil’ heart out.

Here’s what I’ll be using:

Construct2 – Game creation!

LSDJ and a GameBoy emulator – Chiptunes!

Aseprite and Pyxel Edit – Ultimate pixel art tag team!

SFXR – Emergency sound effect generator! (Sometimes LSDJ sound effect crafting is too time consuming)

itch.io – Spectacular game hosting web-zone!

Old-ish laptop running Windows 7 and Zowie mouse – Computation and control!

Exclamation points – You gotta have ’em!

Wish me luck! Hopefully I can make something pretty cool for my fifth compo entry.

Good luck to you, too!

I was supposed to be in ='(

Dear Ludumdarian,

Today I’m writing you, not to tell you from all my exitment that I will be in the 33th Ludum Dare as I was about to do, but instead to tell you that I won’t sadly be able to do so.

My beloved MSI laptop went to sleep last night and will never wake again, the motherboard passed out for no apparent reason (too much travel ? too much heat ? we may never know) and as ready I was to jam from three different places (home, train, then home bis), the odds have decided that I shouldn’t. I will not be able to find and re-install a new computer from then, therefore will have to watch you and stay behind for this LD. My disappointment (and my wallet’s one too) finds no bounds…

Either way, good luck to you all, and mostly, have fun ! =)

Nooo!

That’s why I bought a notebook additionally to my desktop PC.

:( maybe you could quickly take it to your nearest PC repair shop to get a new motherboard ?

Why hasn’t “Programming Art” been a LD theme yet?
18. Aug 2015 · 21:07 UTC
They won’t stay crappy if you keep on practising :)

Do you plan to to take part in the ld33?
18. Aug 2015 · 23:39 UTC
should hang this up in a museum :) hey hey it’s better than my art! I’ve done the dare three times, and all I’ve ever used are graphics primitives.

Le’s do this thang

I am entering Ludum Dare this time around as what is essentially my birthday party for myself, since that is this Thursday. I’ll be streaming the whole thing at http://www.twitch.tv/zeritum, and you are welcome to join me so you can watch me slowly create whatever crap comes out of this and shout violently at my ineptitude.

I will be using Java (with LWJGL) for the code, Photoshop for the “art” (I can’t draw, will avoid if possible :p ) and FL Studio for the music. Hoping for a good theme that I can get along with, but I’ll of course be trying my best for any theme that is chosen :)

Good luck to you all!

Art has always been my biggest problem, too.

But it is not difficult to lean it, really! I have practiced a little and I’m getting better every day. Just don’t lost the motivation!
