LD24 August 24–27, 2012

We’re In!!!

Hi,

Ion Programming will compete in their first LD Jam this time.

We (Lucas & Sam) will program it in Java using a few tools:

  • The Eclipse IDE
  • Notepad++
  • Paint.NET
  • FamiTracker
  • Ableton Live
  • Multiple Free VST’s
  • Any other tools we decide to use at the last minute.

We hope to do good and we hope to live-stream parts of it at http://www.twitch.tv/lucas_f98

We will also do a time lapse of the whole thing and put it on YouTube… (I’ll post the link after)

I hope everyone does well and good luck!!!

Real World Ludum Dare 24 Gatherings

We’re up to 21 Gatherings, with more in discussion (see comments):

I’ll admit, I’m running behind this event with little things like this. Post a comment letting me know where an event is, include a link to further details, and I’ll add it to the list.

Live Ludum Dare 24 Video Streams

Viewers, look below. Participants, post a comment with a link to your live video stream.

Hi!

Every time someone says “i’m in” all i can think of is the matrix. :)

i’m going to be in the thing this time. First time. :) We will see how it goes. I’m using
flashpunk
sfxr
paint.net
musagi (if i can figure it out in time) if not free music place.

I’m in – 1st time

Hi (Yay another “I’m in” post).

I usually make some smalls games aaaand I though I could give a try here ! I’ll try to make a fun game for that first time.I will use  : gedit, löve/lua and sfxr . And for music, I think I will try Inudge.

Good luck to everyone!

I’m in Videos

Hello Ludum Dare,

I finally have access to a web cam and would like to submit my ugly mug saying “I’m in.” Who is in charge of the video compilation this time round?

Are we doing this again? I hope the answer is hell yes.

Originality and “I’m in”

Trying to make and original I’m in post is hard…

Doesn’t matter, I’m in!

This is the second time I will have joined and I will be using game maker again this time. I will probably also use other programs. Hopefully we get a good theme and hopefully I will come closer to being first! (239th last year).

We’re in… again!

Last time we flew by the seat of our pants. We hadn’t touched C or made games in years. And, well, we made Supercell. But this time, oh this time we will… well, it will probably be pretty similar. We’ll be using Python/PyGame, stuff we are only vaguely familiar with. Hilarity shall ensue and fun shall be had!

There will be at least two of us doing the core work. I’m still hoping we can get some people to help out with music and art since we have had some interest.

Tools:
Language/IDE: Python/Sublime 2/Vim
Frameworks: Pygame/Box2D
Audio: sfxr/bsfxr/Audacity
Graphics: GIMP, Paint.NET
Source Control: Mercurial
Communication: Mumble/Pidgin
Fuel: Burritos, Dr. Pepper, Raspberries, and Pandora One

We will be timelapsing, and livestreaming will occur at http://www.twitch.tv/syncarn.

I’m in, First Timer here!

Hello all,

First timer here, so be nice! Going to go full in for my first Ludum Dare Compo in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait. Should be lots of fun!

I am going to be exploring new territory for myself, going to have some fun and be using Flixel which I am currently learning. Seems like a good fit for making something fun for LD48 though.

Complete list of what I am using:

  • Flixel
  • Flash Develop
  • Paint .net
  • DAME level editor (if needed)
  • SFXR for Audio

My main goal will just to finish a game, but I will definitely give it my best. Good luck everyone!

Look up BFXR, it’s simply a more advanced version of SFXR :)

Warmup Game – Doing One, Not Telling What

It’s time for warmups, ladies and gentlemen!

I’m doing one in AS3, FlashPunk, and FlashDevelop.

I’m not telling what it is until I have a demo, though. :)

I’m in!

First timer here, I pledged to join the previous two Ludum Dares but had to withdraw from both due to personal issues. This time, however, NOTHING will get in my way, muahahaha!

I will be writing the game in C#, using Visual Studio and XNA Game Studio. If I finish early, I may attempt to port to Java. I will be using Photoshop to create the images, and sfxr for sounds.

I’m in (after Uni resits)

I have exams in the week before and on Friday morning GMT, but I’m sure I can put something together for LD.

Language: Javascript/HTML/CSS using the CreateJS suite with AppJS and the Windows 8 JS libraries. Yes, that’s right, this weekend will have me produce a Windows 8 Modern UI application game in JS alongside an AppJS and web based version using the same code base. Live commits on github will be testable builds for App.js, whilst the repo will be mirrored with Dropbox for the web based version.

IDE: VS 2012 RC

Image Editor: The GIMP (what else?)

Sounds: Not sure, probably SFXR, replacing sounds with higher quality assets for post LD release.

Will try warming up over weekend, but got revision to do.

Polyconsole: Here’s some game dev tools

I should be posting a for-reals I’M IN post next week, but! I posted something this weekend I wanted to share.

I released the tools that I’ve been using for the last year to make games. (Well, they were technically on BitBucket all along, but now I’ve released compiled and packaged-up versions so you don’t have to spend days fighting with CMake!) The tools are based on Ivan Safrin’s Polycode and let you make 2D or 3D games in Lua. I used this framework to make my LD23 entry, “Breathe”.

I realize there’s a TON of options for game development out there, but if anyone’s interested in giving this a shot, I’d be curious if you actually manage to make anything with it :)

I’m in for the third time

I’m in and ready for Ludum Dare 24! This will be my third Ludum Dare and I am ready to create a great game and do better than I have in my previous entries learning from the mistakes I made. I will be livestreaming the whole development process and I will create a timelapse and put it on Youtube when I finish.

Tools:

  • Code: Processing
  • Graphics: Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Processing (you can design graphics with the code, pretty cool eh)
  • Audio: BFXR (if I decide to add any audio) and Minim library for Processing
  • Timelapse/Livestream: timeLAPSE and Livestream.com

I have been playing around with Processing and I find it to be a very powerful programming language. I think I can accomplish a lot with it this Ludum Dare. If all else fails, I will use Gamemaker/GML.

I’m In!

I’m getting ready for my first Ludum Dare. Should be lots of fun!

In preperation I’ve created a simple little timer program to run in the background once the competition begins. All it does is display the current date and the elapsed time since starting the program. Feel free to download and use it from my website here if you like: http://www.phatrobit.com/downloads/projects/Timer.zip

Things I’ll be using:

  • Language: Python 2.7
  • Libraries: Pygame 1.9
  • IDE: Visual Studio Shell with PyTools
  • Graphics: Adobe Photoshop CS4
  • Audio: sfxr (Probably won’t get around to music, but if I do I’ll most likely use LSDJ)
  • Timelapse: Chronolapse
  • Misc: Tiled, My timer I created (linked above)

Looking forward to creating and seeing some great games!

Thanks for the reminder on Chronolapse. I haven’t gotten around to using it yet, but I think this jam is a great place to start.

I’m In! (I guess…)

So this is my first time programming for the Ludum Dare competition.

I’m quite sure I know what to expect, and I’m also pretty sure my practice might get me a Compo entry. If not, I can settle for Jam.

Anyway, list of things I’ll be using:

  • Language: C++ 11
  • Libraries: (Not sure yet. Probably OpenGL or GDIPlus)
  • IDE: Eclipse CDT IDE
  • Graphics: Paint.NET
  • Audio: I can settle for no music at all.
  • Timelapse: Chronolapse (40 FPS)

Really nervous or the competition. I hope I make it!

Most Definitely In

I’m really looking forward to LD24! My entry for 23 was fun to make but far too buggy to stand a chance. I’m hoping I’ve learned something from that misstep and that I’ll fare better this time around.

I’ll be coding with GML in Game Maker 8, doing artwork with Graphics Gale and Paint.NET and working sound magic (hah) in SFXR and Fruity Loops.

I might attempt to record myself this time around, but I’ve historically had issues with recordings. Whether or not I’ll be able to get it to work this time remains to be seen.

Eh, I’m in.

Not going to lie, I pretty nervous about this. I can’t even begin to guess with any amount of accuracy how I’m going to do. It’s my first time doing anything like this. Good luck to everybody!
  • Language: C++
  • Libraries: OpenGL, maybe GLSL and SOIL for textures.
  • IDE: Visual C++ 2010
  • Graphics: Paint.NET
  • Audio: Probably none, or I’ll record some simple ones myself using audacity.

In again, hopefully I’ll finish something this time.

Using:
Unity
Photoshop/Pyxel
sfxr/bfxr

………..Soon

The declarations

So i have decided!

 TOOLS

I’m going to use Unity!

I’ll get soud stuff from sfxr and bfxr.

Any art things will be done in blender or paint.net or eventualy pickle depenting on theme.

The Game is going to be on github page and possibly stream

.Warm Up is availble at this site.

THE FINAL DECLARATION

 I’m going to win ! 😀

Cool your setup looks a lot like mine! 😀 I recommend also trying to get some music in there as well! I use Garageband :)
