Ludum Dare 58 October 3–6, 2025

Welcome new LDers!

Every year I do this post, just to remind you that your health is important.

Welcome and have lots of fun! Here are some tips :-)

  • You are the most important this weekend, so take care of yourself (drink/eat enough, sleep enough, use a good chair, etc)
  • Be aware of 'feature creep', a good way to do that is to plan something that should take half of the weekend to create. Be sure to playtest it and if there is more time, THEN implement some of your scrapped features. Always aim for a "least viable product" in the first day of the LD weekend.
  • Make sure the game is easy for you to play: you know the mechanics very well as you are the designer. For other players it should be harder to play, as they did not spend an entire weekend to design it :-)
  • Take time comming up with a solid, fun and doable idea, it will save time later as you can ground your development in this first concept.
  • Controversial one here! Don't be afraid to use new techniques and tools. It will take up time ofcourse, but it is a great way to force yourself to grow as a gamedeveloper. Keep time in mind though.

  • New tip here! Got it from soloadventurergames: take a nice shower, put on some clean clothes and take a walk, to start the gamejam fresh.

If you leave a comment, then I will put your name on my 'to play list'. I'm curious what you all end up creating :-)

Hello everyone

Hello,

We`ll be in Ludum58 for a first time ! That’s our 5th game jam and we’re really excited about that !

Let's get something done again!

I noticed that I'm on a three-jam-streak of not entering/finishing something. So changing that is the main goal for this weekend. gallery.PNG

Also trying to learn/take advantage of the ECS approach and want to use bevy, which itself is a really cool project i recommend checking out for anyone interested.

Good luck and may the theme suck for everyone equally.

My first time at Ludum Dare =)

Hello everyone. This will be my first Ludum Dare. I’m very excited for the big day. I’m a beginner in the world of game programming, but I already know how to make a game that’s fairly decent. This is going to be amazing =)

17 compo games and counting

Been a while. Finally have some time again, and the themes are looking good. I’m in.

First Game Jam

Any one have some tips for my first game jam? I honestly don't have high hopes for a great game this time, but hey! We all have to start somewhere :D

Ludum Dare Live Streaming Question

Just a quick question: when streaming for game jams or just Ludum Dare on Twitch, what category do you use? I usually use the 'LudumDare' tag, but is there a common category that people usually use, or do you leave that blank? The past few times I've just left the category blank, but I figured I'd ask around and see if there was a better option.

Feeling good ahead of jam

Normally about this time when the first theme voting round begins, I get a bit anxious with some of the theme ideas listed. I feel like this time around, seeing at least the themes on this first round, I feel a lot more confident and excited about what the end theme will be! We all have the different themes that appeal to us all, so I expect that's a feeling some people also have, yet others might not feel the same. Regardless, I'm super excited!

Hello,Guys

Newbie, this is my first time participating in a gamejam.I hope to have a great time playing with all of you.

Am I in?

The love sheriff

The love sheriff arrives at a alien shalloon and he is there to spread some much needed love.

The story behind this game

It's now 10 years ago I made my first jam game, and the game was "The Love Sheriff ". The game was made for the Ludum Dare 32 and the jam theme was "Unconventional weapon". I have because of the 10th anniversary decided to make a total remake of the game. The game is combination between how the game was made then and how I would make it today.

You can find and try the game here

Good luck and have fun

Good lord, we made it

Almost missed the jam cause of my co-dev's faulty equipment. I will pester him about using laptops for all of his work yet again, those cursed machines are not to be trusted. Yet it was just bios problems and WE. ARE. IN. And I'm definitely not ready...
