So after roughly 2 hours after I decided on the 2 genres, I have created a quick Flappy clone in TypeScript+Phaser. The second genre I will mix into this should be soccer, I have ideas on what mechanics to implement, wish me luck!
(sorry the gif is low FPS, maybe watch the video instead )

I have successfully added a ball for my Flappy to catch and throw. Looks more like handball than soccer, but that basically doesn't matter  Now onto adding more ball physics, bouncing, etc.!

My Flappy is now enhanced by the mechanics I wanted to do - you need to use your ball to break your path through the holes, and if you lose the ball, well, you are doomed.
My original idea was to combine flappy bird and a soccer game, and now I kinda feel the soccer/handball theme is losing its significance, so right now I'm thinking what to add, or rework, to have a feeling of a sports game as well, not just enhanced flappy game. I appreciate ideas in comments!
I will update the art accordingly, this is just placeholders.

This morning I started working on the visuals, tweaked some physics to attach the ball on character's feet instead of ass  And behold, Flappy Soccer was born! More fine-tuning to come.

Thanks all, it has been great fun! You can check my game here.
Hello, wonderful Ludum Dare community!
I am finally able to join my second Ludum Dare (my first one was 41) and I'm happy to do that. Since my last participation I was lucky enough to start working on games as my primary source of income, and also finally have a hobby project that looks worthy enough to be soon shared with the world. Ludum Dare and this community definitely deserves a thanks, as LD41 was happening during times when I was wondering if pursuing gamedev is something I would like. It turns out I love it
I wish you all the best of luck!
I'll be using the following stack:
Literally, I'm starting with nothing this morning. Yesterday, I waited up for theme announcement before going to bed, to inspire my dreams. I dreamt about an alien invasion to Earth  I'm not yet sure if this is something that inspires me to make a game. Well, time for coffee and brainstorming! Good luck y'all!
Bad news is, I still don't have any clear idea for the theme. So good news, instead I decided to jump straight into creating and maybe something will come out of it. Or if not, at least I try out some new things in Unity and discover new assets, or mechanics to code.
