Greetings methozoid!

Update #1

Got the basic idea about the game, and started making placeholder arts. Still thinking about the place where should it plays…

Update #2

Yea, I’m not very satisfied with the results, but I have to work more on the player handling, collisions. But first…EATING!

Presenting the first screenshot!

Lovely isn’t it? :) Those rectangles are there for a purpose, and it’s still placeholder art..

Summary of Day 1

pitbull

Sooo. Successfully implemented a knight enemy, who attacks you if he comes close to you, added the collision system, movement (jump still missing. lolwut). Lot of things to do, but need some sleep. GLHF

Where Magic Happens – Summary #2

Okay. I thought that I would write a summary on the blog, too, for those who are not following Twitter. (Btw: http://twitter.com/robee00)

I successfully implemented a wave-system, now I have to fine tune the difficulty, as now it’s so hard, that even I can’t play it throught ^^. There is so much to do, and I think I just have to polish things, and make new graphics. As I felt, I learned a lot of things, even from Day #1, and I’ll write a postmortem after LD, so be sure to check that out too :)

First public release. YAY!

Yea, here it is. The first release: https://t.co/I1GRM9vs . If you have any bugs, write on my twitter(@robee00) or comment here.

Knight Wrecker – Postmortem

Hi Ludumers and Readers!

This was my first Ludum Dare, and I really enjoyed it although, it was hard to stay awake after a 18 h session :P.

Before the start, I precisely examined all of the themes, and after seeing the results of the earlier voting rounds’, I expected the ‘End of the World’ to be the theme for LD25. I successfully missed the start with 1 h, but when I saw the theme, I was a bit confused. No idea came into my mind. I have written down something for this theme, and started to build something on it. After the first session, which was 12 hours long, I wrote code that made no sense.

After sleeping, and having dinner, my motivation was over 9000 (YES! NINE THOUSAND!), and did a 18 hour session. It was my first game, that I finished, and I am really proud of myself for achieving this. It is a really good feeling…

My only problem was with the sounds. I could get some nice effects from bfxr, but I wanted a nice music, but I didn’t have time for it.

I wanted to achieve some kind of pixel graphics, so I just scaled up the smaller sprites, and got some nice characters 😛 I’m not a good pixel artist, and animator, but I made my best with the knights. I know, the gameplay scene should be much better, but I wanted to focus on the gameplay..

Maybe it is a bit boring to play, but when I play with it, I feel that it’s MY game, and it makes me feel good. I think if I ever need motivation to make games, I’ll just start Knight Wrecker and play thru it. Only if I can 😛 After the 20th wave, it is really hard 😛

I really feel that I learned a lot, and it made be a better programmer, even if the code is very ugly, and using variables like a, or sss, or I don’t know what I wrote

LD29

I’m in… late

Soooooooooooo. I wanted to start in time for this LD, but there was a pretty good gaming expo in my city, so I went there, and lost one day. I decided that I will participate in the Compo then, and was thinking about a good idea meanwhile I was at the expo and got a really good one.

My tools:

Programming: Haxe w/ Flixel
Art: Paint/GIMP
Sound: bfxr/sfxr

LD30

I’m in!

So, it will be my 2nd LD, and I’ll stream it! You can find my stream on the side bar or at this link

What I’ll use? The mighty D language, SDL2, GIMP, and sfxr/bfxr.

The prepared source code can be found at my GitHub and the game’s source will be there too!

I’ve never heard of D before. Just looked it up on wikipedia and it looks really awesome. I love the higher-order function support!
