I Think I'm In?

I'm slightly confused by this website which probably isn't a good sign, but I'm very excited to join my first ever game jam! I don't know if I'll be able to finish a game with my current level of game dev skills but I'll sure give it a try.

Here's the list of tools I'm planning on using:

Engine: Unity

IDE: Visual Studio

Art: MagicaVoxel, Blender(?), Gimp/Inkscape

Sound: Reaper

... and most likely some free assets because I might not be able to create everything on my own (that's why I'm going with Jam category even though I'll be working alone).

Good luck to all of you fellow jammers!

I did it! LD41 Jam Entry - Fallen Leaves

I completed my first ever game jam and I can hardly believe it. It wasn't perfect. It was a giant mess that I would've made three times faster had I known everything that I know now. I've learned a lot and I'm excited for the next one!

Can some kind soul confirm in the comments that they can actually see my LD41 entry? I wouldn't want to mess that up. Here's the link:

In a mood for some riddles and blinking?

Well, my game has both! And it makes the color pink feel creepy.

Oh, and it needs just a few more ratings to hit the magical number of 20. Consider taking it for a spin: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/$78684

Reviewing LD Games Is Hard Work!

If you're exhausted and you crave a slower, atmospheric, eerie, oniric (or so I'm told! - LD folks were really kind to me with their sophisticated adjectives) meditative experience (but with 3d platforming and blinking around!) that's a little rough around the edges, I have exactly what the doctor ordered:

Fallen Leaves Speedrun Contest

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKUJ7JMGqm8

This is a recording of my terrible attempt at speedrunning my own Ludum Dare 41 entry - "Fallen Leaves". I've made a few obvious mistakes and there are at least two or three skips that I haven't used (not counting possible glitches).

Think you can beat me? If you can finish Fallen Leaves under 1:19, I'll include your name in my next game (which - given how much I enjoyed my first jam - should come sooner rather than later). And as an added bonus, if you can explain why I've chosen 1:19, you'll also win the same prize - no speedrunning skills necessary!

Or maybe you're interested in the 700 or so words of story that I've skipped through? In any case, you can try my game here:

Second Time's the Charm?

I clicked the magic button so I guess I'm in! LD 41 was my first ever game jam. Since then, I took part in a few others and I gained a bunch of experience but for some reason I have this strange feeling of being really unprepared. Fortunately, I have 27h to banish this strange, silly notion from my mind. I guess that doing something pragmatic like listing the tools that I'll be using for the jam seems like a good first step.

  • Unreal Engine 4.20.1 — Arguably not the best engine for a small jam, but I absolutely love it!
  • Blender — This is probably a pipe dream as I'm still not good enough to rapidly produce my own 3d assets and I'll most likely have to rely on the kindness of strangers, posting their stuff on the interwebz under CC license.
  • Gimp / Incscape
  • Cakewalk by Bandlab

And that's all she wrote. Good luck to y'all!

This one wasn't meant to be.

Sorry folks but I have to tap out of the jam. My mind is not in it and I don't want to submit something half-baked. Sometimes in life things just fail to line up properly and I guess that's ok. I still can't wait to try your games though and I wish you all good luck!

Ludum Dare 47

You son of a bee, I'm in!

My first and last LD was LD 41. The last game jam I took part in happened sometime in 2018 and I haven't done absolutely anything game-dev related since then (not counting minor ventures into the world of music creation/sound design). Up until 20min ago, I had no idea the next LD was just around the corner. Lastly, I'm working this weekend so...

... there's absolutely no good reason why I should join, but as the title suggests - I'm in! I have that itch to create and it needs to be scratched. I'm also rusty as all hell, but hopefully, I'll manage to create something.

Tools:

Unreal / Unity - I'm a bit more familiar with the former, the latter seems a bit better for the purpose of a small jam. I will decide in the next day or two.

Ableton - For music and sound design.

Free assets for graphics as I'm no artists and I'll be running short on time.

Good luck to you all.
