Ludum Dare 46

Back to LDJam after 5 years.

I've been trying to participate for the last 3 editions, but I always have some kind of issue during the jam. This time everything is going suprisingly well. The goal is to stop the cubes from dying by entering the opposite tile or colliding with the other element cubes. gameGif.gif

And it's done!

My first compo entry for LDJam! Hope you like it!

Ready to Jam!

I'm happy to join another Ludum Dare! I've been working as a software developer for the last few months and I really miss making games more regularly.

Team and Tools

  • For the art I'll be joined by my wife who's an illustrator, I think she uses Illustrator and Photoshop, but I'm not completely sure.

  • In the sound side of things I'll try to create some music and SFX myself using Reaper and a MIDI controller.

  • For the engine and IDE I'll use Unity and Rider.

Lately I've been kind of stuck on coding in my job, so I'll take this game jam as an opportunity to have fun with game design, music and writing. Can't wait for the theme reveal!

*Great Ludum Dare for everyone! *

After a lot of back and forth... These are my suggestions

First time that I join in time for the suggestions so I was struggling with theme ideas, most of them were too straight-forward or too attached to game mechanics. After reading a bunch of other people's suggestions I came up with these:

Ludum Dare 57

Day 2 (day 1 for us)

Me and my wife are making a very simple game that puts you in the place of a miner trying to dig as deep as they can. You need to break dirt and stone blocks using the correct tool, if you use the wrong one your tool takes damage. If you break your tools you lose.

The gameplay is basically done, now I'm polishing stuff to make it more appealing. I already made one song and added some SFXs. Tomorrow I'll try to smoothen the camera movement and make adjustments to some stuff so that the game feels better cause it's still a bit rough around the edges. I'll also be implementing the art as my wife finishes the assets and thinking of ways I can insert some storytelling to the game.
