Interesting idea

So we want to play around more in Unity. So we are going to use a random world generator to create a nice world for to create our point and click horror game. CRAZY RIGHT...

Two and a half hours

Okay, so we are two in a half hours in the jam. Here is a screenshot of our island that was generated in Gaia. Progres1.png

Effective morning

So this morning we have a great effective work morning. The world is generated and now we are adding some boundaries for the player. We also re-created our player in UFPS. Now we need to start working on the story and start developing the levels. And Adventure Creator is setup. Progres2.png

Slowinsh

It is going a bit slow because our game is story driven so it takes a bit long to come up with the FULL DESIGN DOC but we are getting there. I started to play with a dynamic weather system. It looks kinda good. Just some small tweaks to be done. Progres3.png

Did not finish

So we had a disappointing LD Jam. We started off so great and then hell break loose. We created a terrain using Gaia and the gameplay mechanics were done in Adventure Creator. We wanted to create a first-person point and click horror game, but that did not happen. From 12 hours of a power outage to a computer that did not respond we decided to stop with the jam. We will still post the game for you guys to enjoy.

Way over my head

So I am going to start the jam now. I have a briljant idea but I might be way over my head. Sometime ago I played Dear Esther, or experienced the game, and I loved it. I want to go that route. Story driven collect game. So let's see how this will turn out.

Progress

Progress is good but I am afraid that I have over scoped the game. I am developing a first person adventure game. The main problem with this game is that the gameplay is going to be a bit sloe but I can promise that it will be worth it. Here are some screenshots of my progress so far.

Documents collecting and reading

The 50% part of the game the player needs to read notes to get the clue of where to find Harry. Here is an example of that system working.

Day 1 Finished

So day 1 is finished and I have done alot. We have the terrain generated with a dynamic weather system, a day and night cycle and a working compass. I just started a puzzle design that the player is going to need to reveal the plot twist at the end of the game. My main concern is that it is a very slow game, a bit of "pixel hunting" is going to be required in some areas. But nether the less it is still going to be a fun a game and when it is released I really hope the you guys will enjoy it. Finally I have finised off the main theme song and came up with the game title. See below.

Slow morning

So I am having a slow morning. When I played through to collect the first three letters I realized that the player can get lost very easily. I want the player to pixel hunt a bit but you can get lost and walk in sircles. So I created a map that you can teleport to the letters that you have found. To make it a bit easier to re-trace your steps. So that system is working now.

End of Day 2

So today was again a very busy day. I wanted to finish up with storyline and all of the collecting of the notes but it is taking longer that expected. I have so over scoped this project but I know I will finish it up. One of the concerns is that the game might be to big for Itch so I have to upload the game to my own server but my upload speed the last couple of days is not good. Luckly I have one day left. Here is a sample of a view in the game for the 8th letter I have placed and programmed.

And it's done

My game is done and busy with upload to Itch.io It is a very slow phased game but I can't wait for my fellow LD devs to play it.

And it's live...

Progress is the key... Right?

So it has been a weirdish morning thus far. It has been slow, but the progress that I am making is very good. I am a big fan of point and click adventures. So I decied to make one, but with a twist. I also loved P.T. so I am creating a P.T. insprired isometric point and click game.Progress_1.jpg

I am making good progress

I am making very good progress. The set dressing is done and the level works for now. The character can interact with some of the objects now and I have some camera animations happening to hight light a certain object. I am currently, just for testing, using Adventure Creator's Tin Pot character. He will be replaced tommorow. I still got a lot of work to do.
