I'm in!

I missed LD45 because of travelling and was about to miss 46 too, same reason. But, since corona kicked my ass back home, I'm in! My suggestions:Submitted themes.png

End of day 1

I've made some huge progress this day. Normally I'm not even halfway at the end of day 1! Which means I normally have to skip some ideas and have to settle for a game that misses out on some of the fun stuff.

Thus far I did: - Level/Environment - Character - Animations - Start menu - End game screen

Introducing: the main character!

Was able to start, finally

So, I woke up this morning, ready for the jam. I looked up the theme. There were no sudden ideas coming to mind yet, but I was positive I would come up with something. I went downstairs to discover that my fridge died during the night resulting in a massive splash of water in my kitchen. I decided to not explode in a rage and started to clean it up. I would take a look at that mood raping machine later. I started brainstorming and came up with a player and a vague idea. I booted up Unity and got an error. I restarted the application resulting in the same. I Googled the error message and tried numerous solutions. Non of them worked. I needed to visit the toilet badly, so I was like: I'll figure it out after. When I flushed my toilet, it got blocked. I tried to maintain my calm but Unity still wasn't working so I was like: I am going to try installing an older version of Unity, if that doesn't work, I'll walk away from Gamedev forever. Finally the gods provided me with a working Unity-version and I came up with an artwork idea heavily based on the Heptopod language in the movie Arrival. I am still thinking about what to do with it, but at least I have a better chance on finishing a project with a working Unity engine.

Note to self

Usually when I wake up during the first day of LD I instantly start panicking when seeing the theme and I immediately start burst out (relatively bad) ideas. This time I decided to take a peaceful walk before booting up my PC and within only half an hour I had an idea that I could work on! I hope I will remember this for all future episodes.

Sounddesign

I needed a break from Unity and coding, so I made a concept of the soundtrack!

Finished!

I finished my game! It might not be the most original idea and I took a huge influence considering the artwork, but it's done and I've learned a lot this jam. Looking forward to the next one!

I'm in! Accompanied by my new synthesizer setup

I'm in for this one too! I did have quite a blast in the first 3 hours of LD already. It happens rarely that I come up with an idea that I enjoy right off the bat.

I hope I can focus a bit more on the atmosphere and music this time. I have updated my synthesizer setup and will hopefully add a great soundtrack to my submission.

I'm in, considering Python/Pygame instead of C#/Unity

Hi all!

I'm in! Normally I use Unity with C#, but I also know my way around Python and Pygame. I was wonder if anyone has every tried uploading a Python-game to LDjam. And how did you do it? Just upload an exe and ask the player to download that?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I'm in!

Due to a wedding I had absolutely zero time for LDjam this weekend, but this morning I came up with an idea that (with some luck) I can probably deploy before the compo deadline. Let's go!
