Ludum Dare 54

Finished making my game. Now I can play yours :)

I made retro PC simulator with binary decision-making that will test your attention.

This is an aesthetics-first game, but hopefully gameplay isn't bad either. I was tuning difficulty with the last few updates, hopefully its in a good spot now. Lemme know what you think :thinking:

Please comment with a link to your game! I will give a proper feedback and some rating to ya :heart:

I will play everything for the next few days.

Ludum Dare 55

Challenge Accepted

Usually I'm taking too much time selecting the right idea and when I do there's little time left to make it, and then I get carried away anyway. This time I decided that I either come up with something sweet in a hour or I'll pass.

But for whatever reason "Summoning" instantly clicked.

Hopefully I'll be able to make a finished and polished game in time. And this time I'll be doing it 100% solo too :)

I wish good luck to everyone and happy game making! Can't wait to see your games ^_^

Yours, XpMonster

Deathly Bacons - Halfway Cooked

I called the game "Death Beckons"

chrome_jQdb37ctne.png

It's a short and grim story-driven platformer for the Jam! It doesn't have too many experiments as to mechanics and most of the game revolves around interacting with the NPCs. Though there are few endings depending on the decisions you make.

All code is finished apart from few triggers and all User Interface. Now is the time for Art, Animations & Level Design. The true fun (or suffering) begins :)

Hopefully I'll make it all fast enough so I can spend my time on making SFX & VO as I originally planned.

And how are you doing?

Yours, XpMonster

~~~~ P.S. I'm not sure whether links to socials are allowed, but I'm posting more often on X (EmpyreansX) so if you want we can meet there :)
Death Beckons - Final Version Released!
I will start playing everyone's games now, before I wouldn’t be able to give it the required time and attention as I was working on the finished version of the game. Working solo is always hard, but very rewarding :)
Please leave a link to your game in the comments :) I will play, rate and give some feedback.
I will play & rate your games on my first stream :)
I have a wheel to pick between submissions - Games below 20 ratings get 10 weight on start (have to prioritize with so little time left!) - Each teammate (present in chat) adds 0.2 to weight - Losing in a spin adds 0.2 to weight
Thanks for the amazing games!
This Jam was great, because of you! Yes, You!
Maybe we'll meet again in October :)
Ludum Dare 56
We meet again :) my votes and a bit of nightly yap
Xp here. Good to see all of you again, and some for the first time :)
This time I decided that instead of polishing the game for 2 weeks after the game making period ends, I should probably come prepared instead. So as the Jam rules allow it, I am currently in the process of making the base code. Surely most of the game is still going to be made during the allocated time, but at least I'll sleep peacefully after it concludes knowing no updates are needed and I can redirect my energy back to the main project.
As I know exactly what I am after, my theme voting was governed by it (see image below)
brave_Ly7shYqeGr.png
  • +1 works best and would require little to no effort to adjust;
  • 0 would take some work or may turn out "reachy";
  • -1 likely opt-out of the theme.
But that's not telling of the themes I really liked which are: 1. Under pressure - best, very open to interpretation. I can imagine many things, both narratively and in design; 2. Pathways - mostly narratively, I am very into non-linear stories; 3. Mistakes are Permanent - hardcore platformer (YEZ), but also story of unalterable consequences to support it; 4. Folklore - yeah, someone has to make a john wick game and you know it (baba yaga goes brrrr); 5. Tiny Creatures - wouldn't mind making a "micro world" type of game. Elves maybe (mythologically correct ones)
Even though I am a game-designer professionally, I'm more of a narrative-driven type when it comes to indie gamedev and I think that will explain my choices well.
And what are these?! + Ritual - what is this, a sequel to Ludum Dare 55? + Echo - funny enough echo echo has a duplicate ate. Don't really dislike like it, but had to mention it somewhere where
I didn't plan to write so much, but it's late and I guess I gave in to the impulse :laughing: I will go take that time to rest while I still can. If you stay up late as well I suggest you do the same.
P.S. also I am gonna stream most of the development this time and as my new tradition goes - I will play your games until the jam ends.
See you all soon!
~ Yours, XpMonster
idk
I reflect on side effects of isolation
as I descend into the ruins of the shelter.
I consider pathways under pressure,
playing with fire, salvage what I can,
But I lost signal,
cannot access my connections,
a strange machines and tiny creatures of mutation absorb remains of my attention.
Echoes...You are not supposed to be here...
déjà vu...must break the cycle.
To get far I must
first beat the fear of Ludum Dare
Sea Beckons ‍☠️
SeaBeckonsemIcon/em256_1.png
Theme is not what I wanted, but I'll make it work in story with my sequel (kinda) to LD55 game "Death Beckons", but this time it's not a platformer, but Top Down Naval game! :speedboat:
Tiny news: I began making highlights and preparing for Youtube release. 16 games from the first day were already highlighted. I also took the liberty of making thumbnails for some of them that didn't have one. You check my highlights to see them.
