Ludum Dare 45

Looting and UI Done

Game is on pace to be fully playable (but not fully polished) in a couple hours.

Main gameplay done

Almost all of the gameplay is in now. The flow of swapping between different spells in combat worked out beautifully.

You are Nothing is Finished!

gameplayfinal2.gif

Our ASCII styled shooter, You are Nothing, is finished and submitted! It came in a bit tight at the end due to classes, but we fit in everything we wanted.

It's now break time, to be immediately followed by judging time.

We're In + Wallpaper

I've been working on my texturing for pixel art; I'm pretty happy with how this wallpaper turned out.

ldwall2020comp.png

My team is back for another jam. We'll either be using Godot or my own web game framework Cobblestone. Cobblestone is a bit smoother in browser, but I've grown to appreciate Godot's physics and animations recently.

Tools: - IntelliJ IDEA - Gitlab CI - FL Studio and Audacity - Paint.net, Photoshop, GIMP, Krita, or whatever else artists are feeling - Tiled Map Editor

I hope to see some stellar games again this jam!

Gameplay mostly complete!

Got pretty much every system in place now, including victory and ending. Just have to add the interactive components on a few more parts of the spaceship. And the final art assets, when the art team finishes up.

Past that, it's balancing and polishing. Still a lot of work, but we're going to finish a game with all the AI I ever wanted.

HUD Finished

Got all the final art assets in for the HUD. Still a couple more menus to finish, as well as final art for the actual game. Good thing this is for jam; it's not gonna be finished in two hours.

Here We Go Again + Wallpaper

LDWall47DesertDOF.jpg

Some portion of my team is in again for Ludum Dare 47! We'll probably be using Godot, though we might make use of my own Cobblestone framework if we need something particularly technical.

Other tools: - IntelliJ IDEA (only if using Cobblestone) - Gitlab CI - FL Studio, Bfxr, and Audacity - Paint.net, Photoshop, GIMP, Krita, and every other image editor under the sun - Blender (if 3D) - Tiled

I hope to make and see some great games this weekend!

We're In Again! Wallpaper!

College has kept us from participating since LD47, but this January event falls over winter break! I'm excited to finally be back to a jam with one of my long-time teammates.

Tools

Code: - Godot Engine - My own C# Godot Utilities

Graphics:

  • Aseprite
  • paint.net
  • Inkscape
  • Krita
  • Blender

Audio: - Reaper - Audacity - The junk drawer in my apartment

Wallpaper

This tradition seems to have fallen off since I was last here, but I've made a wallpaper nonetheless!

I hope to make and see some cool games this weekend!

Character Controller Started

baselinemovement.gif

Will probably be changing the numbers all weekend as we add the world around him, but I've got the basic character controller in for my game! Slopes have made the vector math a lot more complex.

10 Hours In, Level Generation Working

levelgen.gif

We've got a character and a level for him to jump, slide, and grab through! Now we just need the gems for him to harvest and the hazards to avoid.

Slim Pickings is Looking Good

slimgameplay.gif

Our game "Slim Pickings" is in a good spot for the end of Saturday! It's a game about dodging enemies underground and harvesting gems, because everyone knows that slimes eat gemstones.

All the characters have at least a bit of art; now it's on to some more animation frames for them. After that, there are a million places to polish up and tune.

Looking like a game!

Start your engines and race to dig through a sliced planet in the sporting event of the millennia: Crust Busting!

UI gadgets are working!

uiemintro/em2.gif

We just had to make our UI problem a UI problem and an animation problem. But I'm happy with the result!

Crust Busters is submitted!

Race to dig through the depths of a distant planet in Crust Busters, the racing event for the new millenium.
