So it begins...
We're in for the Game Jam! Time to start prototyping... and making coffee!
We're in for the Game Jam! Time to start prototyping... and making coffee!
Idea is decided upon, time to get crackin'!
Working prototype is done! We're gonna get on the art now, work out the fine details and polish this turd into something nice over the weekend! Coulda crammed this into the Compo but working with a team is more fun ;-)
Published WOOOOOOO!!!
So tired!
But now that we're ALL DONE!!!!! We'll share:

Come try it out! https://burgee.itch.io/cosmiccleaner
Bring those small worlds on folks, I can't wait to see what everyone else made. I've been avoiding playing them for the week so I can go in fresh and be surprised.
This event has been a ton of fun. Good luck to everyone!
Look it's a video! We played the first 10 levels of our game to show how 'easy' it is - try it, you'll be great!

It seems we also have a bad habit of moving the mouse cursor around in anticipation - maybe this is going to get re-recorded.
Looks like we 'won' Feedback friends! No more points for reviewing there so I'll be performing all of my reviewing from those who review(ed) our game until the LDjam site is working!
Hit me up, I'll review you back! I have a bunch to do now so I'll leave you with this video of the first 10 levels so you can see how 'easy' this game is! =)

Hey games seem to be sorted! Does anyone know how one gets 'coolness' points??! Just reviewing? Or is there more to it than that?

Can you do it?

I've never been a big indie game player, despite being an indie game dev. I actually don't play games much at all anymore to be honest. I prefer to work on them instead.
But I've gotten so much enjoyment out of rating the ~60 or so games I've rated so far this week, I think a passion of mine has been re-kindled. I can't wait to come home from work and play some indie games!
Thanks LD and thanks to you other devs out there!
Your review of mine gets a review of yours! I'm sick of just picking randomly off of the list - hit me with your games!
Or just comment them here I'll probably just review them anyhow because I'm such a softie.

We're there! 500 people have hit Cosmic Cleaner's itch.io page! Were YOU one of them? Toss us a rating and comment and one of us (or both of us maybe!) will hit you back with our reviews and ratings!

Post me things to review or else... or else... or else I'll just keep sitting here being bored.
I'm sick of picking games off the list, Bring them to MEEEEEE! Like this: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/cosmic-cleaner (please read the INSTRUCTIONS on the itch page or else I'll find you and look at you real hard)
This has been a BurgeePost
First, I just want to say we had a GREAT TIME doing this event, both making our game and playing all of yours.
It was a bit painful watching some streamers play our entry, because we weren't able to get all of the instructions into the game on time, and by the time we realized that it was a bit... un-intuitive... it was too late to update it.
We have an update for the HTML5 entry ready to go for the moment voting ends, we'll swap it out for the 'better' version, but until then, anyone who plays is going to have to read the instructions on the itch.io page.
Still, this event has been inspirational - it's incredible how well the indie dev community represented themselves here. I honestly believe that it's one of the FEW online events where you won't find participants flaming eachother. I've seen nothing but honest, respectful, and helpful feedback. I'd like to make an E-toast to all of you fellow game devs!

If you're bored, and want to play an HTML5 game, go for it! (be warned, I am at work and will not be able to return any reviews for the time being!)
I'm pretty disappointed in how our game did, not going to lie. From our comments I thought we'd place way higher.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/cosmic-cleaner

It was our first Ludum Dare, and we had a great time participating. We seemed to have way more ratings than comments which was strange, having gotten 10-15 comment-less ratings in the last few hours. I hope when the final page is done we can see what our rating distribution was.
Our game wasn't as intuitive as it should have been, and I know this hurt us. It was so hard to not update it with better instructions as the event went on, but we held fast to the rules and went with what he had. This is the result of that!
Thanks everyone who rated us and commented - we learned a lot! It just seems that the comments didn't actually reflect the ratings - which is kind if disappointing. =)
Happy LD38, maybe we'll see you at the next one.
Just wanted to put this out there to our fellow game devs! The artist and I (from Cosmic Cleaner) did LD38 as a break from our main project which is a tactical, cover based 2D shooter.
We have a demo available, so if you liked our work on Cosmic Cleaner, please take a moment to check out Azure Sky Project! If you enjoy the demo please consider supporting our Steam Greenlight campaign (link available in the game itself!)

Our idea was ambitious to the point of I might die.
Never quit.
With 30+ hours of coding done over the weekend, tomorrow is just for polishing it up.
Our entry is unique, and we're looking forward to sharing it!
We made a 'God-Sim' for Ludum Dare this time.
You control the world with your magic remote with its unreliable battery. The battery is charged by the faith of your people, but if it overcharges or goes dead the remote goes haywire.

People have AI, they get married, have kids, go swimming, garden for food, put out fires and hunt bears. They can die in a dozen or more ways - heatstroke, hypothermia, hunger, thirst, bear attack, tornadoes, etc.
How you control the weather will affect which disasters do or don't occur.
I'll type up an official postmortem later. I'm too tired now!
