My second Ludum Dare – Wrapping things up soon

Greetings everyone! I just remembered, I forgot to write an introduction post for this Ludum Dare! Oh, the horror!

This is my second Ludum Dare, and here’s what I came up with. I may or may not polish it a little more (probably a little more). But what is it? You control a pellet, journeying from a “garden-like” level. Well actually, you control the way the level rotates, allowing a rather different style of navigating. I think I managed to tweak it enough to not get you seasick. I had some issues along the road there see.

Here’s some screenshots from the game! #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ pelletrun_3 pelletrun_2 pelletrun_1

I’m in too!

Hi everyone!

It’s going to be a blast to once again take part of this epic event! I’m excited for the theme, and excited to see what everyone will produce. :)

I don’t have a complete list of tools that I’m using. But as it looks now:

  • Unity as primary development environment.
  • Visual Studio 2012 as programming environment.
  • Bfxr for sound effects.
  • Paint.net for art (I suppose it won’t be anything fancy, as I’m mainly a programmer and have limited experience in pretty much everything else).
  • Abundant Music for the music.
  • Chronolapse for taking some frequent screenshots to use for a development timelapse later.

That’s all for now I believe. I should probably find something to do within the next 2 hours. Maybe a power nap will be good, considering I’m in Sweden (so the compo begins at 03:00AM). Good luck everyone, and happy developing! :)

Adding some screenshots

Currently, this is the state of my game. The player should pick apart the blocks on the screen in order to gain points. Blocks can be removed, if they are in the same color, and if they have the same value (heart, clover, spade or diamond), and only if the blocks are connected to each other (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally).

There’s also powerups that the player can collect, that removes blocks more quickly, and that can even help the player removing blocks that can’t be removed in the normal way. Currently, there’s a blast bomb that removes blocks in an area of effect.

Well, I have lots of things to do still, but here’s some screenshots anyway :)

Cubulis timelapse- and gameplay video

I was initially going to submit a post compo post, but the lack of time during the past weeks changed my plans. Perhaps I should do one in the upcoming, even though everything is over soon.

I’ve had a blast, and no silly migraines this time :). I would just like to share a gameplay video and timelapse video I made for Cubulis.

(I believe the GUI got messed up due to a programming mistake)

The timelapse is still uploading I believe, so please be patient. Good luck guys, and good night :)

Play Cubulis here!

I'm in!

A bit late now, but I forgot to say I'm in!

Me and my friend have been working hard with some prototyping of the game functionality. So far so good even though you get stuck a few times once and a while!

Tomorrow we will try to focus on getting some graphics and level design out. But for now, good luck everyone and good night

Level design progress!

Now me and @bytegrove finally have some progress on the level design. Stay tuned for some graphics soon :)

Graphics progress!

End of day 2 is soon upon me and @bytegrove. We finally have some graphical progress! We also have pretty much our level design done, but tweaking is needed here and there. We'll see how it turns out :)
