Rules question

Hello!

Looking forward to my first Ludum Dare!

I’m looking to take part in the 48-hour compo. In spite of the very clear rules, I just wanted to double-check something; I will be using middleware called Adventure Creator (a Unity plugin), which allows you to make an adventure game without a single line of code. In the rules, it states:

If you’re using a development tool without “code” (i.e. GameMaker), then as we see it, your “source code” is your project file.

However, I’m not sure how to interpret this; what ‘project file’ do I upload? If I were to upload the entire file for the project, it would contain all the middleware code, which I doubt I have permission to upload. There would be no original code of my own in it.

Does this mean I don’t need to upload anything other than the web player? If not, what exactly should I upload?

I apologies if this has already been covered.

Kind regards,

Big Cow

Upload whatever files are necessary for someone -who has unity with that plugin installed- to be able to edit the project like you would.

Thanks for your quick response, Papy; sorry to be a bother, but I’m still a bit unsure. If somebody had Unity and that plugin installed, they’d just need whatever art assets, animation and dialogue I write for the game in order to recreate and edit it. Does that mean that it would suffice to just upload those? I don’t want to upload the scripts as they’re all compiled behind-the-scenes by the plugin, so they’d be someone else’s IP.

Need coffee?

So does our protagonist! I did the last Game Jam solo, but I’m really glad to be collaborating with designer/artist Ben Moss and designer/musician Robert Shaffer this time round – the aesthetics and audio create an awesome, foreboding mood! I’m doing design and writing, and putting it together using the Adventure Creator toolkit for Unity, so development is super fast and easy.

LD 42

I'm back!

It's been over a year since I released anything, but I really wanted to participate in LD42 so I could get my creative juices flowing. I also wanted to get some practice at using Game Maker, which I'm new to.

I'm not a coder at heart, so I had some frustrations, but I got everything working and added some nice bits of polish that I'm really happy with. In Calorie Killers you play as the victim of an onslaught of burgers, trying to keep them at bay before they make you so large that you run out of space! Featuring really catchy music from Robert Shaffer.

I love this event, the feeling of being part of a community working passionately to release really cool stuff in such a short amount of time. It's good to be back :) props to all of you for taking on this task!
