LD32

I’m in LD32

Not really my first Ludum Dare, but the other times failed due to a lack of drive and skill. I don’t know if this will go the same way, if I hit a wall, I’ll try to break on through to the other side for the sake of the compo.

Tools:

  • Sublime Text 3 (for hot HTML5, cool CSS3 and jubilant Javascript)
  • Google Chrome (for devilishly debugging and tentatively testing jaunty Javascript)
  • GIMP (for groovy graphics)
  • BFXR (for audacious audio)
  • Mozilla Web API Reference (for reckless reference)

This also gives me an excuse to listen to some psychedelic bands for 48 hours which may well affect what I end up producing. Some bands currently on the playlist, for those very few who may be interested:

  • Led Zeppelin
  • King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
  • The Black Angels
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Cream
  • Iron Butterfly
  • Electric Wizard
  • The Beatles
  • Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats
  • Bob Dylan
  • Kyuss
  • Fu Manchu
  • and more…

Good luck to everyone participating, and have fun!

LD33

I’ll be dipping my toes in here

Probably won’t end up producing too much, I have some other work to do sadly. But I’ll give it a few hours and see where it leads me.

Tools:

  • Sublime Text 3
  • Javascript + HMTL5
  • Paint.NET
  • BFXR

Necessary Motivators:

  • Caffeine (in coffee form)
  • Music
  • George Broussard’s Twitch Stream (if he decides to stream)

Good luck everyone and let’s see some good games.

LD34

I’ll be glad to participate in this little ‘happening’

So, I’m in. I have nothing but a free weekend ahead of me, admittedly after a Friday night of Christmas drinks with friends, but I have nothing else. I have just completed my final topic of Uni with Distinction and am looking to celebrate and put my brain to good use. What better way to do that than make a game in 48 hours?

Tools:

  • Game Maker: Studio
  • Paint.net
  • Sublime Text 3

Extras:

  • Spotify – I’ll be throwing together a playlist largely consisting of stoner rock (Kyuss, Colour Haze, Om, Sleep, that sort of thing) as well as a smattering of other favourites

Keen to get this started, let’s see some great entries, people. Good luck!

Ludum Dare 47

In for LD47

  • Language: C#
  • Engine: Custom/Monogame
  • IDE: Visual Studio 2019
  • Art: Krita
  • Sound: LabChirp

I have a few ideas for each theme, but I'm not particularly sold on any of them (the ideas, not the themes) so I guess I'll plug away until inspiration strikes.

I do like the idea of Infocom inspired text game, though. Tonight I'll throw together some base code that I'll upload to github after the jam.

Taking it slow

It's been a busy day outside of LD47, but I've scraped together something that is shaping up to be a functional game. I wasn't in love with the theme, but after a sit down and a coffee, my idea of a Infocom text adventure-y thing clicked and now I've got some text printing and input working, I need a story.
