Ludum Dare 52

...and that's a wrap! Incredible first Ludum Dare!

This was our first Ludum Dare, and for me, my first game jam ever. It was a pleasure to work alongside such talented devs (@jackypark9852, @rogerw). As a music guy myself, I had no idea what was going on in the code, but it seemed like those long, long 72 hours really, really paid off!

Would love if y'all would give it a shot! We'd love to hear what you think, and we're looking forward to our next Ludum Dare!

Thanks for playing No Harvest!

Huge thanks to everyone for enjoying and leaving feedback on No Harvest! Though our ranking wasn't the best, our team learned so much from our first Ludum Dare here, and you better believe we're coming back next time better and stronger! Some things we're going to pay attention to going forward:

  • Try to find a dedicated artist to be the point person for all things art-related
  • Better define what our MVP is to enable playtesting earlier on
  • Better define, find, and install all the packages we thing we will need ahead of time
  • Find a way to get more people's opinions on our game idea and how things are going before publishing
  • Marketing! We learned so much about the power of Twitch streamers this time around. Maybe next time we'll look into things like Twitter.
  • Look into using free-and-available tools like discord bots or even ChatGPT to streamline the dev process, if that's allowed

We'd love to hear any thoughts or tips on how to achieve these things!

Thanks everyone again, and see you next time! Also, please enjoy our post jam version!

Unsquished!

Finish line! Game is live, woud love for you guys to try the game!

Limited space is such a cool theme. Our first thoughts were immediately games where screen size is limited, like Tamagotchi games, and then we also had a few ideas on wordplay with the word "Space". We eventually settled on the idea of you, the player, fighting to keep what limited space you have, as the space around you shrinks. Added a couple of things here and there to spice up the gameplay further, and I really think we ended up with something fast paced, fun, and moderately challenging.

Please check it out and let us know what you think! Really proud of this one

Posting a bit later since the website was under heavy traffic earlier...

Super excited to have finished this one for this jam! Our brainstorming started with limiting the player's space, to create a somewhat Tamagotchi feeling, and after a couple iterations, we decided it would be cool to have the aim of the game to preserve what limited space you, the player, has.

Really happy about this one, and would love to hear what you guys think!

Ludum Dare 55

First Time for Everything!

This has been my 4th Ludum Dare, and I have to say, I can't believe how much I'm learning from doing these jams. I started off just helping some of my friends make some music and SFX for our first game. Then, I got super interested in game design and started helping out with designing game mechanics. This time, with half of our usual team unable to join the jam, I picked up Aseprite and made pixel art for the first time, and I may have unlocked a new interest!

With first times inevitably comes mistakes, so the art this time around isn't the best, but now I know a lot of what not to do next time!

I guess the moral of the story is a cliche one lol - if you're thinking about doing something, just do it, especially if you don't know what the hell you're doing.

Anyways, here's the game! Pretty proud of this one, even if it's not our most polished work :)
