LD31

WIP #3

I’m going to call the gameplay done for the compo. It’s not as interesting as I’d have liked, but I don’t want to spend a bunch of time on it and not have a finished product at the end, and I think the kind of thing I’d wanted to do would be too complex.

I’ll work on some audio, then a menu…and then it’s time to build the lighting.

Oh god, it’s going to be time to build the lighting.

LD 38

I'm In

Woo! This'll be my...third? LD entry. I think. Don't quote me on this.

I'll be using Unity, Blender, Photoshop, FL Studio. Maybe Famitracker, depending on the #aesthetic. Might work with a group from my University's gamedev clup, might be the only one who shows.

Day 1

Figured out what I'm going to make; a resource-management/sim game taking place on a very small planet where space debris is a very real issue! The more unbalanced your planet gets, the more wildly it spins, and asteroids might hit your buildings and damage them (thus causing them to lose durability, and cost resources to repair). The damage is proportional to how fast the collision is.

Currently working on some really crappy art assets for a prototyping phase - depending on time, might have an artist friend help out with making things look good, but probably not.

Progress

Still working on basic mechanics, but a lot of the cooler aspects are in. We have a rotating planet, and you can click to attach modules to it (with the requirement that they don't collide with anything). Currently, the physics doesn't feel entirely great once you start adding modules, and we don't have the meteors built in to collide with & damage modules; but most of the input is fixed up. Exciting stuff!

Switcheroo

Doing the old "change game midway through Ludum Dare" trick!

Because no, I never learn.

Oh well! This one's a bullet hell staged around a planet; you have to move around a planet to destroy an alien mothership, while bullet hell rages around you.

I have player movement and shooting done; working on making some enemy bullet patterns!
