Ludum Dare 47 October 2–5, 2020

hello world

first time participating in the jam lets see how i do!!!

excited and nervous at the same time

Any lonely souls out there?

Good morning, afternoon and evening!

It's our second time at Ludum Dare, and we think there might still be room on our team. Would anyone like to join us?

I'm a programmer, and a bit of a generalist. @666Savior does 3D modelling, and anything they get their hands on. Our third team member is a musician and SFX artist. We can do 2D or 3D, haven't decided yet.

Engine: Godot
Language: GDScript
3D modelling: Blender
Graphics and doodles: GIMP
CI/CD: GitHub Actions (yes, we will have automated builds!)

At LD46, @666Savior and I made Feed the Tree.

Screenshot of Feed the Tree

We enjoy being original. Good atmosphere, neat visuals, and satisfying gameplay are all very much our thing. There's always room for cute, too. We just don't do horrors ;)

Are you a graphical artist? A coder, writer, designer, modeller, anybody? Want to join our team? Let me know in the comments here, or on Discord: outfrost#5543.

Good luck everyone! :sparkles:

(reposted from earlier so folks looking for a team can see this among the inundation of "I'm in" posts)

Time For My Second Ludum Dare

Using:

Piskel

Gamemaker Studio 2 (not drag and drop)

Got no sound programs because i don't know how to sound and i'd rather get some experience before I drive myself insane with them in a Ludum Dare. Also hopefully not making anything too complex this time since no one understood how to play my last game.

First Timer gang

First time trying this and I honestly don't expect to make a full submittable game (I have a busy weekend ahead of me and am also just inexperienced lol) but I'm here to learn :) can't wait to see what everyone makes and hopefully I can make at least something. Haven't decided between trying to raw dog it with SDL/C++ or to learn Unity on the fly for the jam (i know it's dumb but ¯_(ツ)_/¯ who knows)

Let's goooo

First jam, I've been working on an engine and this is a good excuse to make more than some test scenes. ;) Tools I'll be using: - Blender - LMMS, Audacity - Gimp, Krita

This post made by open source gang

Hoping for Spooky Vibes

Leaning towards something that wouldn't be considered a true "game" and a bit more of a tool. Best of luck to everyone.

I'll be using:
* C++
* Unreal Engine
* Maya
* Photoshop

For anyone using Unreal Engine, I've made cheat sheets here:
C++ Cheat Sheet
Blueprint Cheat Sheet

Best of luck to everyone! Excited to see what everyone makes.

ALMOST THERE

Starting early this time, counting down until the theme is revealed, which will be at exactly midnight in CEST land.

First Game Jam

Long time developer just getting in to game development so this is my first game jam. I'll be using Unity but that's about all I know at this point. :fingers_crossed:

Fall Guys Theme

For some reason, the theme "Strength in numbers" reminds me of 2020's hit game, "Fall Guys" The hoard of jelly beans racing through a level guarantees that a few will survive, and advance to the next round.

header.jpg

My 5th Ludum Dare, and hopefully my 3rd game!

I'm more exited and readier than before. I'm also eager to play other's games. My plan this time is to have a scope extremely small, if it works and have time I'll add something else. And then polish it with the rest of the time.

What I'll be using:

  • Engine: RPG Maker (it's not going to be an RPG, I use it for its top down movement and because I can program in javascript with it).
  • Code editor: Atom.
  • Art & Animation: Pixelorama
  • Maybe art too: Pencil/scaner/Krita (if I have time)
  • Music: Abundant Music
  • Sound Fx: sfxr

I'm aiming for the Compo, but since I don't have time constraints this time, is I don't finish it I'll take one more day ans send it to the Jam.

prepare for ludum dare.jpg

Now I'll just make my drawing of the day for the #drawtober while waiting for the time to arrive.

We're in!

This time I'm entering the Jam with two of my friends. I'm excited to see what we end up with!

Tools

  • Engine: Unity3D
  • Modelling: Blender
  • 2D art: Affinity Photo
  • Sound: Cake walk or Bosca ceoil / Audacity
  • Code: VS Code

Good luck everyone!

Ludum Dare starts today and we are ready!

Geez, it's here again, eh?

Meme Regime is back on the case, working with our same three members. Vanea is on programming, and she's a wizard Hexed is on music, and she's great at it And I'm on art duties. For some reason I might not actually be terrible?

Also, we have a new fella working with Vanea. They go by the name of "Gears4Speed", and we're super stoked to have them this time around. The bottleneck in the past has been closer to coding so having two programmers will make everything so much smoother.

We'll be using Unity, FLStudio, Mixx, Mixcraft 8, Paint.NET and Aseprite, and some assistance programs like WinSCP for some FTP shenanigans (namely for me and Hexed to deposit finished files directly into the game's assets folders) and Github for the wizards to sync their own arcane scrawlings.

Hopefully we make it into the top quarter of the event this time around!

My Body is Ready! Gamejam Prep Demo

In prep for the jam, I prepped a project scaffold based on my old projects. It ended up being a bunch game mechanics I think can be mushed together, but we'll have to see what I can do during the jam.

I made a video as part of a series demoing and reviewing my intent for the jam.

I look forward to seeing you all out there...or whatever the words should be. :v:

https://youtu.be/Qj3lL3lexaE

It's almost time to Jam!

I think we're finally ready for some game jam action, we spent a good chunk of the morning getting our work environment cleaned up so we can focus. This time I think we're going to try to make all of our own sound effects. Maybe we'll get some time lapse of our development, too.

Good luck everyone, I look forward to playing what you make!

Hi all! I am in this time for Ludum Dare!

Current plan is to stick to HTML5/JavaScript, but we'll see what way the theme leads me :)

So lets do this - Question regardings streaming

Since LD39 - lets see what LD47 brings on :)

letsgo.JPG

Also a question: is it ok to just stream the desktop and music ? I just thought about stream myself but i dont have a camera here on my PC lol. But i dont know if this is ok too.

Would be great if we could use these last minutes to chat and team up, though :stuckouttonguewinkingeye:

I'm In, going to try for a compo entry

It's been a while since I've participated in the ludum dare compo, so I'm going to give it a good crack this year. My art is probably going to turn out horribly, but part of the fun is winging it with graphics / sound!

Tools: Engine: Unity 3D Modelling suite: Blender Image Editor: GIMP Audio: Mixcraft

Good luck everyone, and I'm looking forwards to seeing all the cool games everyone has made.

Im in.... I hope. :3

Obligaroty I'm in post

Hello folks, its my first time in ludum dare.

Prepare for some programmer art here (like my avatar hehe).

I'm aiming for a Compo and will use some great open source tools. - Godot as engine - Aseprite and Paint.net for the arts - new excellent LEd for level editing - VS Codium for codes - some last minute choice of tracker for musics

Wishing all good luck!

First Timer

First jam here, only been learning game programming for a few weeks. All the posts, tips, and software people use have been really useful. More appreciated. Going to try and get something short and sweet out, but not keeping my expectations high. I'm expecting to learn a lot though.

Since others have done it and it's been helpful to me, here's what I'm going to use:

Engine: Godot + Godot-Rust + cargo watch for fast(ish) development time Art: Aseprite Audio: Tools others have pointed out

We are in!!

My buddy Aidan and I are in! Im a frontend developer who wanted to try out some game jamming!!

Going in for Compo, yikes. No Engine!

My second time in Ludum dare, the previous one was last October. I didn't really learn any new gamemaking skills so here goes nothing! I hope I can make something playable.

Tools:

  • Typescript,
  • Svelte (frontend, menus),
  • Pixi.js or Three.js (renderer),
  • ECSY (cool ECS framework from Mozilla),
  • Aseprite, Illustrator, paint.net for programmer art,
  • sound - didn't figure out yet xD

It's been a while

I've got some boilerplate / code package here ready to go and anyone can give it a swing if they're using Unity 2019.4 (has a Text Mesh Pro dependency) https://github.com/MrThee/PhilSrc I also now have aesprite this time, so i might make a 2d-ish game for once instead of spending hours modeling, animation, + rigging things.

Let's Go

Excited to be back in it! Good luck everyone!

I'm in.

Buzzing. Let's get it.

i'm in

Literally almost forgot I should post this

Required "I'm in" Post!

I'm in!

This is my 7th LD!

I'm a little bummed out that I ended up with a pretty harsh work schedule, alongside have to help family move - but I suppose it balances out the crazy amount of free time I had for LD46.

I'm still going to try to get submitted, I'll just have to keep an eye on that pesky scope...

I'll be using:

-Unity

-Photoshop

-Piskel

-Audacity

-GarageBand

And all on a brand new PC!

First Game Jam

First ever game jam attempt. I want to step into game development and this seems like a good way to start. I don't have much experience, apart from some tutorials, but you gotta start somewhere. I'll be using Unity and Krita and hope to create a half-decent 2D game.

Third time doing LD! Can't wait.

Tip for Unity users: exporting your game to the web normally means more people will play it! But make sure you test exporting for WebGL, last time I nearly missed submitting the game on time as I had a few problems exporting :)

And that's not all- it's time for another LudumDare. I wasn't sure I would be able to participate this time around, but things worked out. An October miracle? Maybe! 🎃

Oh- here's a little introduction: Howdy! I'm HacksawUnit, from the 'USA'. I have been doing LudumDare for a while now. I love creating and thinking about all sorts of games. I will be entering the ‘Compo’ this year, as usual. :-)

Best of luck everyone! Hope you have a great experience.

Round 2

Can't wait! Jam round two!

LD47 HYPPPPPPPE!!!!

45mins left guys! Lets have fun and good luck to everyone :-)

Let's jam!

I've been learning a lot of new stuff lately and I guess now I can cook a fresh game!

I'll be using Unity as the engine. Few things that I would love to try in the game are 1. Adaptive music, both horizontal and vertical. 2. Emotion

Good Luck Everyone!

I'd like to wish everyone good luck. I hope we'll all have fun this weekend and be able to bring something to the table.

Ok but this time it's for real though.

I haven't finished a jam properly in quite a while. In fact, even the games I've submitted here have been half-assed 1-day sketches cause I either didn't actually have time or just got massively distracted.

I'm actually making a game this weekend though. This time I gotta do it.

Have fun everyone!

I'm in

Time for another Ludum Dare! Hoping I can come up with a good game idea.

The tools I will be using:

  • Engine: Kha framework with custom engine.
  • Art: Krita.
  • Sound: Bfxr.

Good luck and have fun everyone!

I'm in

I hope this time I will be able to finish on time

Good luck to everyone!

Found a partner so I'm joining.

It's been awhile since I complete a game jam and I really wanted to do this one, but I didn't want to go it alone (again). Luckily a friend I know is learning Unity so we're teaming up for Ludum Dare 47!

Tools we'll be using:

Unity Aesprite Fruity Loops and Audacity Blender 3D

Have fun everyone and good luck!

I'm gonna make a game!

Most likely solo, making some kind of janky handmade 3d in Gamemaker is my primary objective. Otherwise I'm using Photoshop, ASEprite, LMMS, Maya? BFXR, Blender? We shall see. I hope to make something vaguely scary in tune with the season, so here's hoping for a weirdo theme in the next 30 minutes.

Need tools?

I have no idea what they're talking about. Anyway, here's a team pic.

Hyped to start again

Second time on the Jam, now with Haxeflixel!

Have fun ya'all

Hello hello!

Not my first jam but ive been out of the programming loop for a couple of years so im hoping to get back into it with this one. Doing a solo to see how far i can get. Super excited especially since a theme i sent in has made it to the top 16.

I hope you will all do well and have a fun time!!

Ready for Compo Time, I'm In!

This will be my, holy banana phone, 18th time participating in Ludum Dare Compo.

Usually use C#, Visual Studio, MonoGame, Asesprite, Paint.NET, Gimp, Inkscape, Sfxr, Audacity, Bosca Ceoil, and other things. There's always a chance I just throw all that out and try something different, but not likely. I may try to produce something in LMMS this time. Audio is always on my list for things I shouldn't put off until the end... but I always seem to do so :(.

Starter code (which I will push soon) is on GitHub here: https://github.com/srakowski/LD47

I'll be likely pulling infrastructure/engine code from previous LDJAM entries on the same account, but gameplay will be new.

Good luck everyone!

Good luck people!!

This is my first time in this, I have only been studying for a couple of weeks and they encouraged me to participate, good luck to all.

I'm in...

Lets try to complete the game in time guys...ALL THE BEST !!!

I'm in too

Only 30 minutes to wait...
