This is the first LD I'm taking part in. My first challenge is to finish and pack my game before it's too late as i'm really newbiiiieeee. Wish to see awesome projects from all of you.
Hey peeps, I've seen so many creative and amazing projects being developed during previous Ludum Dares, and I'm so incredibly excited to finally join the fun. I can't wait to see everyone's results!
I've seen this trend, so here are the tools I'll use:
Good luck to everyone participating! - Benita :)
It's been a little over a year, but I'm ready to make a big comeback!
I wasn't keeping track of time and LD39 is already almost here :o
Hey Everyone, I'm In! This is going to be my third Ludum Dare but my first one with a team and my first one on the new website. Could somebody please walk me through how to coordinate submitting a game with my two teammates on this website? The "Join Event" button says this "If you are a Team Member, add your Team Leader as friend, then ask them to add you. You need to make or join a game before you can create blog posts! When your team is done, you Publish your game (not before, thanks)." but what does that mean? I don't see any way to have friends on this site and how would one go about joining a game?
Thanks so much, Shade
I'm never sold until I hear the theme. We'll see.
This will be my second LD! My last one was a long time ago (LD 28 haha). I will be trying something new and will be using:
Good luck all!
I've participated in Global Game Jams and 1GAMs, but this is going to be the first time in Ludum Dare. Most probably will be using Unity and perhaps Aseprite? We'll see. Good luck everyone!
This will be my first game jam that I’m in, I’m gonna hopefully get some good experience from this
Anyway, good luck, everyone!
Hi guys. I think we should make the old LD Website (ludumdare.com) redirect to ldjam.com if that is possible. I personally have it bookmarked, and in both Google and DuckDuckGo (probably the two most popular search engines for devs), the old website comes up first with a search result for "ludum dare."
Even if that isn't possible, I at least think we should update the banner so that people know that the event is starting in like 4 days, because it isn't too clear right now.
That's all. Input is welcome :)
Happy Ludum Dare Week!
Theme Voting has kicked off! Tune in every day this week for a brand new round of voting.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/theme
Wednesday night we'll assemble the top 16 themes from Rounds 1-3. If you miss a round, don't worry! Rounds stay open until the end, so just click the tabs.
A list of Real World Gatherings for Ludum Dare 39 you can find here: real-world-gatherings-for-ludum-dare-39
For future reference, I'm trying to keep helpful event links like that on the event pages themselves:
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/
A number of users have reported problems logging in to the website. I'm working on adding a better error message, but you can work around this by whitelisting cookies from the following domains:
https://api.ldjam.com
https://api.ludumdare.com
This is a temporary workaround. I've been fighting a battle with free services like CloudFlare and Lets Encrypt to try and reach 100% website compatibility, but it seems every time I fix one problem it leads to another. So in the future we'll be switching to our own Load Balancer and a paid Comodo SSL certificate.
That's it for now. We'll see you Wednesday night.
4th LD so far, it's been fun every time! Here's a list of what we use: sound: multiple vsts, FL studio/LMMS/Ableton (varies from one teammate to another) graphics: GIMP/Pixly/Fancy stuff code: Visual studio, Monogame C# have fun everyone and good luck!

Hi guys! If you’re going to participate Ludum Dare 39, and open for new engines, and loves Lua – join Corona Defold Jam https://itch.io/jam/coronadefoldjam. The game jam is organized by Lua community and it shares the theme and launch dates with Ludum Dare 39 but ends October 1st. So you may make your game for Ludum Dare 39 and later make it better while participating in Corona Defold Jam.
At the end of the story awards ceremony will take place at DevGAMM gamedev conference and top projects will receive tickets and booths for free as well as prizes from our friends Defold and Corona. Good luck :)
I will hopefully be participating. (I say hopefully because I've felt very uninspired lately, and it's hard to make games without motivation.) If I do it will be my third dare. My second was much better than then the first, so I'm hoping for another jump in improvement.
People like to list their tools here, but what I use really depends on the project and what I feel like using at the time so I'll list that stuff on the game page once it's done.
Thanks for reading. Wish me luck (and motivation.)
This time from my new appartment in the center of Amsterdam woot! For a change, I might work together with a collegue, but he has yet to decide if he's up for the challenge.
I hope for something good this time, since it has been a while since I've completed a game :D
I'll be using Unity with some Photoshop and Audio thing. Will be capturing the whole thing using Chronolapse.
:loudspeaker: I'm in for the 48-hour compo. Happy jamming!
My first double-digit participation count. :tada: I'm looking forward to the next weekend and wish all of us lots of fun.
Tools * Godot Engine * Atom * Krita or Gimp * Let's face it, I probably will never make music for my entries but if I do, I'll use LMMS
Looks like my first Ludum Dare will be a compo, turns out I didn't have the full weekend XD. GL to all compo and jammers!
I'm gonna need it.
This is the second time I am doing this. Enjoyed the first time, why not do it again? I'm participating in the 72 hour Jam and will be streaming @ twitch.tv/sniperninja564 as much as possible!
