I'm in
I'm in and installing/updating all the software I think I might need. That should probably take me most of this week knowing my luck... and hopefully nothing will break... please?

So we wanted to do something ambitious for the last Ludum Dare, and ambitious we did! We managed to have a "Semi-working" MMORTS, lack of a good server to host it among other things caused it to be mostly unplayable but it definitely worked and was an MMORTS. We enjoyed it so much we decided we would keep developing it, and now here we are 3 months later ready to release it!
I present you.. Kingdoms Of Marazia! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/kingdoms-of-marazia
It's not the most beautiful, and definitely needs some polish (Which I plan on continuing to develop it full time) but it's definitely something I am proud to say I made.
Here's to hoping Ludum Dare 42 goes just as well!

My first time doing the "theme slaughter" thing... kinda dissapointing to see lot of repeated and nonsense themes :( Looking forward to the next round.
Here's the tools I'm going to use * GameApi Builder * GameApi Engine (renamed to qtamoVR)
But looking forward for the gamedev next weekend. I should have all the necessary stuff to do voxel worlds.
First LD, pretty excited! :D
First ever game jam. Have been using unity for about a year. I'll be entering the compo and see how it goes.
Last Ludum Dare I was a little over ambitious and bit off more than I could chew. I went solo last time and never finished the game I started. With a small team I am hoping I can at least finish this game 😁
I'm excited to announce that I joined Ludum Dare 42. This will be my first time going in solo and doing the compo.
Having learned from the last Ludum Dare, I hope this one will go flawlessly without any problems.
Much fun and luck to the other contestants.

The themes this round aren't actually all that awful. Not necessarily good but not really awful.
I'm also extremely glad to see that at least this round none of the Hitchhiker's Guide or 42 themes made it through.
Hello, second time joining!
Same setup as last time: * MoonScript * LÖVE * Aseprite * etc.
First ludum. Let's have some fun.
This is going to be my second jam! Last one didn't go so well. In the end, the game was barely playable... but I learned a lot and hopefully won't do the same mistakes!
[EDIT] 3 months later, I can confirm: we didn't actually try. We were too busy with other stuff...
I'm so excited to be doing my first game jam! I'm going in solo, so it's going to be hard, but it'll be fun
multiple years of this making a game in two days I need a life of some kind some complication will arise tho. a town fair is going on in my town named shanty days so I might not have all the time I would want with this jam. there is always an upside though there's lemonade a block away (ps all the themes sucked for round one of voting)
Hello everybody, this will be my second game jam and I'm going for the COMPO. My first time was the LD35 COMPO and I couldn't finish the game because I didn't realize I was too ambitious due to my inexperience in game development. That was some years ago, so I hope to be able to do better this time.
I'll probably be using:
That's all, good luck everyone and have fun 😃
This will be the 5th one in a row! Can’t wait!!
Ok, actually the themes that made it to the first round are pretty good in my opinion. Like there is not all those duplicated or meme themes that were so boring...
Still have a little bit of fear about the fact that some "too precise" themes were selectioned but it's still better i guess... (I'm talking about the "Build a dungeon" or the "One enemy only". It's not that bad but my main problem is that i feel like a LOT of people, probably including me will just make something too similar :/)
I gotta say this is probably the hardest part for me. I actually love all these themes but unfortunately, only 1 may survive :(

I'm not sure how most folks vote but for me it's like this:
Does this theme spark a fun idea for a game? => +1
Does this theme NOT spark an idea, but I can imagine it might yield something good for someone else? => 0
Does this theme bore me, even if it could be said to describe other successful games? => -1
How do you guys & girls vote?
