1st time compo!
I’ve done the jam portion several times now. Looking to cut my teeth on the compo for LD35!
- Unity3D
- SFXR/Bosca Ceoil
- PyxelEdit

I’ve done the jam portion several times now. Looking to cut my teeth on the compo for LD35!
Hey! this is my first ludum dare. I will be joining the compo.
Tools i’ll be using
Good luck to all of the people participating !!
I was told by a few people that I needed to write an “Im in!” Post, or some things on the site wouldn’t work. Did I do the right thing?
Hey everyone, this will be my first Ludum Dare. I’m mostly going to be doing audio stuff on my team. I’m looking forward to it!
Welcome!
We are full with expectations and just cannot wait for the jam to start,
This is our first time doing this.
check out our homepage.
we are a small group made of students in Hungary,Budapest.
See you on the jam – GBJ Games
1st timer here!
I am planning on using Blender or Atom depending on what i am planning to do with the theme.
Trying to fix my old PC so i can stream the whole process. 😀
I wish everyone the best of luck!
You see, its pretty hard to compose music by yoursuelf (either that or you have to do a terrible improvisation wich is not a good plan on Compo)
So my question is, do i have to create music completly by myself, or may i have the permission to use a third party or Creative commons licenced music?, etc.
That was my only doubt.
Howdy all! Entering the jam, a friend may join for music and art, but I’m betting on doing this alone. So long as my brain doesn’t fall out during the weekend, I’ll be posting updates on my twitter (@NvrSkipGameDay) and… here? Are we supposed to do that? This will be my first time really participating in the LD community, so I’m looking forward to that for sure.
I’ve started a LD jam before, but never finished – planning for a different outcome this time! So yeah, let’s jam!
Tools I plan on using:
• Unity3d with C#
• Art: Blender(?), Photoshop, PyxelEdit
• Not sure on sound yet…
Hi guys,
New to Ludum Dare and amateur programmer at best…but I’m in for this one. I’ll be posting some occasional videos on my YouTube channel (same as my username here if you want to look it up) as I go along and, assuming I can get it to work, a time-lapse when completed. I’ve participated in a few and won a couple of small forum game jam competitions in the past but have never participated in something of this scale. Looking forward to it…and to seeing what you guys do with the theme as well!
I’m not sure what I’ll use for development but probably either Unity if I choose 3D (and can make headway with C#) or PureBasic if I go with 2D. Photoshop and maybe Painter for 2D graphics and Blender if I do 3D. Not sure about sound. I’ll try the LD-linked tools to see what I can do…but I am not exactly a rocket surgeon when it comes to audio.
Good luck to all!

I’m in for my first Ludum Dare, a little scared…. I hope that will be a good experience !
Good luck everyone!
This will by first Ludum Dare, sounds wicked.
Tools: Unity, Gimp, Krita, Audacity, bfrx, and MAYBE Blender.
Good luck, all!
Hopeful first LD participant here.
Still kind of exhausted from the jam last weekend but I’ll see what I can do with.. zero coding/scripting experience! Will attemt to make a simple game and even then rely lots on tutorials. An experimental genre-bending breakthough would be awesome but extremely unlikely.
My chosen tools of trade for this jam are Construct 2 and my beloved Medibang Paint Pro.
Good luck to all!!
First Ludum Dare for me. I’ve been dabbling with Unity but never got close to finishing anything so hopefully this should help me get a good balance of scope and motivation.
I’m excited to start my second Ludum Dare, and 3rd game jam overall!
This time I’m doing something a bit different. I’m entering … the 3rd Dimension!
I know I know, what a silly thing to attempt… and it’s probably going to be 2D anyway… but either way, I’m using the Unreal Engine this time!
I’ve been gearing up for a few months for this, learning materials, blueprints, textures, blueprints, UMG, blueprints, … and blueprints!
I’m happy to be joining the Winnipeg group (the only one in Canada this time!?)!
If you want to check out my other jam games, they’re at my itch.io page!
If you want to ask me simple Unreal questions (or have me ask them of you) tweet at me!
Happy Jamming, Everyone!

Here we go once again in this fateful weekend of gameDev.
I hope to be able to use:
Best of luck to all of us my fellow darists.

I’m declaring this base code for LD35, because I might use Colorado.
It’s all C++ / Lua, all Affero AGPLv3.
version 9.0.0 of the Colorado graphics classes:
https://digitaldoge.duckdns.org/colorado/releases/colorado-v9.0.0.tar.gz
version 0.1.0 of the TERF Tar-Extracting Readonly Filesystem (PhysFS replacement)
https://digitaldoge.duckdns.org/colorado/releases/terf-v0.1.0.tar.gz
version 0.1.0 of “Pitch Black” which is the game I want to make:
https://digitaldoge.duckdns.org/pitch-black/releases/pitch_black_src_v0.1.0.tar.gz
Is this cheating? Maybe. Maybe.
Just wanted to note that I’ll probably try the compo again this weekend. Most likely will do the following combo:
That’s it. Wish y’all too much fun.
I’ll be doing the 48 hr compo.
Ill be using:
-Gamemaker:Studio
-GraphicsGale (possibly)
-SFXR for sound
Will also try to make it for android as well like my game in LD34
It is traditional for Ludum Dare participants to write a post-mortum after the jam, in which they share their process, their successes and failure and what they learned. I always promise I’ll write a post-mortum, but never do. I do write a pre-competition post though – a pre-natum.
Lets get the main formality out of the way first: I’m in.
With that out of the way, I’m changing my approach to Ludum Dare. This time I’m coming in with an actual plan. My plan is very simple, but often very hard to actually follow: 24 hours of feature development, 24 hours of bugfixing and polish. That’s it. Sounds easy, but can be really hard to actually do. The allure of adding features and pushing back bugfixing can be overwhelming! As to the theme, it will get announced at 3AM on Saturday my time, so I’ll be able to sleep on it and get a plan going for the type of game I’ll be developing. With the changes to the voting system, I can’t really predict which theme will win this time, and with as many choices as there are, it’s impossible to make a plan for each of them.
Even more so than the game development portion, I look forward to playing other participants’ games. That is always a lot of fun. Reading written feedback on my entries is also often insightful. In terms of numeric ratings, I don’t really give much thought to them. I care way more about the written feedback.
What I also hope to do is to re-enable my voting analysis tool soon after voting starts and to do a site scrape soon after the results are available.
Have fun, everyone! 😀
Lastly, just the obligatory list of used software:
Engine: Unity
Models: Blender
Graphics: Inkscape, Photoshop Elements
Voice and Music: Reaper, XMedia Recode, Audacity
Sound FX: BFXR or USFXR
Source control: SourceTree (Git)
Backend: PHP/ MySQL / JSON / Google Analytics
Timelapse: Autoscreen, MakeAvi, Premiere Elements
I think I’m supposed to submit my base code before the competition (this is my first time so I’m not so sure :P) so here:
https://gitlab.com/anthonyb/LudumDare35Base/tree/master/src/com/anthony/foobar
Written in Java for LD 35.
Tools for the Competition:
– IDE: Eclipse Mars because IntelliJ is running slow for some reason.
– Audio: SFXR, boscaceoil_win_v2, FL Studio 12
– Graphics: Paint.NET
