I’m in! I’m going to try and make a web-playable game again, but this time I’m going to use haxe with the luxe engine.
I’m going to try and use it for a 3D game, which is not really what luxe is intended for. (it’s great for 2d games though). I just like doing 3d stuff and I don’t mind tinkering with engine stuff, so I’m going to give it a shot unless I have a really good idea for a 2d game. Last night I put together a warmup game (the world’s crappiest breakout clone) which helped me anticipate a lot of the issues I might run into.
My basecode and the warmup game is in my ld48 code dump (https://code.google.com/p/ld48jovoc/) in the basecodehx and warmup subdirs. I would not recommend them, they are a big mess as mostly for my learning, but feel free to peek at them if you want.
Good luck everyone! This is going to be amazing!
ps. I love that not only that this post’s slug includes ☃, it’s the second such post.

I didn’t finish last Ludum Dare, so I’m in again!
I envy the people who are meeting in real world gatherings. Anyone else in Arizona, especially in the Phoenix area?

My local incarnation of the snowman greets you warmly coldly.
For better or worse, I’ll throw my hat in and make a game in 48 hours for the compo. Obligatory list of tools/boilerplate code forthcoming.
Also, based on the URL of this post, it appears that this is the 2921st post today titled “I’m in” or a near variant. Wow!
Getting ready for my first Ludum Dare.
I will be participating in the Jam together with my good friend Vidar as team ATOMIC STRAWBERRY!
We are going to be writing our game in LUA using löve2d, we will also be doing our own graphics with tools like grafx2 and the gimp. It is still a mystery to how we are going to get music and sound into our game, but I am sure we will find a way.
This will be a very new experience for me since I’ve never really HAD to finish a programming project in such a short deadline, so we will see how it goes, luckily Vidar already has some experience with this!
We have decided to try and design our code with data oriented design also known as component oriented which Vidar introduced me to. In striving for a data oriented design one tries to steer away from the mindset that comes with object oriented design in which one creates sets of data that live in an object, instead you try to group related data together, such as having one array for the positions for all of your entities. This approach has advantages, especially for performance. I have not had much experience with this style of programming so this weekend will be a perfect opportunity to get some! (more info)
I am writing this the day before we start. Being in Sweden means that the Jam/Compo starts in the middle of the night (in about 3 hours). So I will try to get a reasonable night’s sleep and then head of to Vidar’s early in the morning to get started! I am very excited!
Best of luck to you all!
Hey all!
This is going to be my first Ludum Dare, was going into compo but I unfortunately have commitments on the Sunday, and I’m thinking 24hrs will be a bit crazy for a first timer, so it’ll be the jam for me.
Unity3D
Modo801
Photoshop, Aseprite
cfxr, garageband….
Good luck everybody!!
But I want to be able to use my base code if I do decide to enter so here I am declaring it. https://github.com/xGeovanni/Javascript-Stuff
Already a new ld, and we’re in!
It’ll be me and a friend, so the jam, even with 72h it’ll be short but we’ll try 😀
We’ll use HaxePunk.
Good luck everyone
… on one screen? Dude!
My Pygame library helps with cross-platform distribution and adds fun stuff to Pygame like animated sprites, cubic splines, screen captures and video recording.
It’s publicly available code you’re welcome to dig through.
git clone http://git.a-o.in/pgfw/
Other tools I’m using besides that and Pygame are
3…2…1…YAY!
This afternoon we’ve set up our workstations – three laptops and one small table.
Due to the timezone difference, the jam theme will be made public at 3 o’clock in the morning: not the best time for a good start into the jam. So we’ll start some hours later, but then go right into the hustle.

Exciting times!
Hi!
I’ts my forth one and this time I will be doing the 48h Compo!
I will be using the following tools:
Language: C# with MonoGame
IDE: Visual Studio 2013 Express
Graphics: Photoshop
Audio: BFXR, Audacity and maybe GarageBand
Timelapse: ScreenNinja 2
I have an idea of a game to make, and hopefully I have not taken more than I can chew (!?!?)
Happy Ludum everyone and wish me luck!
This Ludum Dare, not only will I have to deal with a 48 hour time limit, I will also have to deal with feeling ill! That’s right, I caught a nasty virus at the worst time possible! Fun fun fun.
The tools I’m using for this Dare are:
Code: Construct2.
Art: Aseprite, PyxelEdit, MsPaint, and GIMP.
Music: LSDJ and Audacity.
Anti-sickness: Coughdrops, medicine, and lots of rest.
Wish me luck! Hopefully I can make a decent game despite my condition.
*does nervous jig* hello!
yadayada I’m in and all that. Second ludum dare (first was 30)
using python & pygame
gimp &/or graphicsgale
http://freesfx.co.uk/ and other stuff I stumble across
hope everyone has fun!
I’m entering to my first jam i might have a couple friends help a little and i’ll credit them if they do.
I recently noticed that it’s been two years since I’ve released a finished game.
Holy shit.
That’s as good an excuse as any– I’m doing Ludum Dare this weekend. I’ll be busy most of Saturday and Sunday, and there’s a big snow/ice storm coming, which means the power could go out at any time. Doesn’t matter. I’ll make it work.
Here’s my basecode, for anyone who cares about that.
Good luck everyone!
Gonna be doing the jam this time!
Tools: Visual Studio (For Graphics) Netbeans Java SE, Audacity, Casio CTK-700
Pumped
Hey! This is my first jam and i am not planning on winning but i think it will be fun to participate!
Ill be using Unity for my game engine
Along with paint.net for art
Thanks and goodluck to everyone
So I am not making a game now, but instead working with a team with me now doing the 3D modeling for the game. I’m still participating!
Tried to vote, but i ended up not being able to. Went to vote page, and was bounced for not being logged in. I logged, just to find the 404, a minute too late to the voting i guess. Anyways I’m here and ready to go, finishing up this post before the dare starts. I’ll be sure to post sketches of game development while the dare goes on.
SPECS
This will be my fourth Ludum Dare (I started to do the last one, but I was feeling like crap, and some crappy things were happening in my life, so I didn’t finish it, but i’m pumped and ready to this LD)
I will be using the same tools as I always use
Unity 4.6, C# for scripting
GIMP for images
Blender for 3d models
BFXR, Audacity for sound (And I started learning guitar, can’t playing that well…but maybe some simple music?)
I think that’s everything?
I’m in :).
Tools :
Unity with sharpdevelop, pickle, sfxr, audacity, chronolapse, Tiled, my brain
Lets have fun
PurpleApes is in for the Second times and hope to do better than the first!
😉
Tools used :
_blender/gimp
_Haxe/js
_72h!
So it’s Ludum Dare again! And I will try to create a game, like I have done the 3 (?) last LD:s too 😛
Well hopefully I will commit something to the Jam this time 😀
What I will be using:
– Unity3d (free)-Paint.NET (pixel art, I’m mainly a programmer :P)
-sfxr (I will hopefully remember to add some sound/noises xD)
I think that’s it
Hey everyone,
I have over the last couple of hours I have written a game engine in Java, a very simple one though. Here it is, if anyone would like to use it: https://github.com/technocf/eggine
Good luck everyone, TechnoCF
Christmas’s Canon is now avaible in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store , the conversion into these platforms was on live.

All for Free 😉 !
We want feedback too 😉
In a few hours the theme will be announced on this site. This site, however, will be clogged, and you won’t be able to get in for ten painful minutes or more.
Where else should we watch for reliable echoes of the theme announcement?
I’m in for my third competition. As always, I’ll be using my own codebase.
You can get my codebase here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/skipiengine
Under 2.1 I’ve also implemented a neural network class in the event the theme is Artificial Life. I’m giving this to the community, so make some kick ass games with kick ass AI!
Here’s what else I’ll be using for the compo:
Language: C++
Libraries: SFML, and maybe Box2D
IDE: Visual Studio 2013
Graphics: Gimp
Me and some friends are joining the jam.
Last time was about 2 years aggo.
Engine will be Godot Engine.
And I am moastly gona paint stuff in photoshop.
We don´t have a plan for audio yet 😛
Chears 😀
But I’m too tired to make a decent post. Good luck everyone, I’m going to bed!
Well, I didn’t really make a post-compo version of my last game like I wanted to, but I do want to keep getting better at game development. I’m in.
Very, very excited to participate in my second Ludum Dare!
For this LD I will be using Unity, Inkscape, GIMP, jfxr, Blender, and…a yet to be determined program for composing music. I’ve had soundation.com recommended to me so I am going to check that out.
Here is a link to the base code that I will be using. It’s mostly 2D platformer code, I might not use most of it depending on what kind of game I make, but it comforts me greatly to have access to it just in case.
http://www.trykonstudios.com/Template%20Code%20LD31.zip
Happy game making, everyone!!
2h38 left before the start, I declare my participation (first time).
Setup: Unity, SharpDevelop, Blender, Pure Data, Gimp.
Much fun to come, hopes I.
Hi guys!
I’m going to stream my first Ludum Dare ever.
What to expect: Mistakes, swearing and a lot of crying. But hopefully everyone will have a great time!
Software: Unity, PS
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/glaze_96
Ludum Dare 29 was my first Jam. And it was awesome.
Life got in the way for LD30, but I’m back for 31. And I’m pumped.
This time I play on entering the Compo rather than the Jam, so that I can be content with a smaller scope and therefore spend less time as a jittery mess adding game mechanics Monday night and more time cleaning and making my game perdy. But we’ll see.
Coding: Python/Pygame
Graphics: I just got the free trial for Pickle, and I’ll play around with that. If all else fails, I can fall back on my old pal Gimp.
Sound: No plan yet! I guess I’ll just wing it.
I’ve got almost 16 hours worth of music lined up on Spotify, so I should only have to repeat the songs once or twice each. 😛
So much hype! Let’s do this!
We made a Github repository, since we are working as a team, with some base code. Posting to adhere to the rules.
So I crashed at roughly 3 am-ish last night.
After determining that whilst I can create and manipulate the theory behind maze creation. I would need more time to brain it into an actual equation/code. So I’m cheaping out and making 1 level, Statically set. Yes the graphics are bad. I’m not a good artist.
On this morning’s todo list is to get collisions and player movement working correctly. Shouldn’t take me too long. Though I need to recall how openTK uses keypresses again…. something something something coffee…..
No screen shot at this point as that would be spoilery.
SuperDisk and I have missed a few Ludums, and the last one we attempted we didn’t finish (yet) but now back and ready to rumble.
I will be using Python and Pygame and have some starter code.
I’m using Visual Studio Community 2013 with Python Tools. I’ll use paint.net for basic graphics and bfrx for sound effects.
My friend El_Cabaro’s schedule cleared up and we’re back..
This time It’s only me (Roni) and Carol.
We’ll use Unity3D, probably pixel art.
Wish us luck!
Hi all,
I entered the previous Ludum Dare with The End of Society a kind of complex resource management game. I am also entering this Ludum Dare using Unity for the game engine, Illustrator and/or Photoshop for graphics, sfxr for sound probably.
Good luck to all and let the ☃ be victorious.
This’ll be my one year Ludum Dare anniversary. LD28 and LD29 were a lot of fun. LD30 was quite a failure, but a learning experience regardless. May I be blessed by the snowman for LD31!
As before, I’ll be utilizing JavaScript, JQuery, and CreateJS, along any bits of useful code from my prior projects found on my website. If I choose to do anything in 3D, then I’ve got some recently acquired skill with three.js that I can call on.
I’m assisted this time by Jeremy Breau of Antithesis Design. The media assets he’ll be creating will no doubt be far better than any weak vector art I would throw together, and having a partner with whom to share the design efforts is always rad.

I made a post saying I was in before, but after seeing all of these other posts I thought I’d update it.
I’m in the Jam again this time, I’m going to be participating with some friends of mine and might stream at least some of my work, presuming I can get it to work. And I’ll be using the RPG maker.
First jam ever, and my first attempt at making a game in years. This is going to be terrible 😛
I’ve teased the idea of entering a few times, but this time for real.
Tools:
Little time left before the theme will be announced.
I’m a little drunk after a meeting with friends from the local gamedev
What I wanted to say?
I’m in!
Exactly one year ago passed since my last participation and I’ll do my best.
I will try to stream but now I’m going to sleep a little bit)
Good luck to everyone!
Tools: Unity, Blender, FL
Turns out I have the weekend off. I guess I’ll spend it doing Ludum Dare. 😀
Going to be C# in Unity. Probably 2D, using assets I already have, hopefully (so go, snowman, go!). Still, looking forward to doing it regardless.
Hello Guys and welcome to: High Flyer [DEMO]v1.2.1a!
In this version we fixed the following:
–Collision Detection
We added the following:
-Auto Updater
Yes that’s right, we added an auto-updater to the demo of High Flyer! now you no longer have to come check this site for an update, now you know the features of the update, your version, and the updates version all in one compact program! Excellent!
Finally that we fixed the collision detection errors with the DEMO ( full version got the fix a while a go )
Get High Flyer [DEMO] today! and while your at it why not get one of our other games? I’m sure you’ll have a blast!

Since I’m an old dood, I’ve lost the ability to crunch, so I decided to participate in the “Non-Video Game Entries” category doing a board game before the theme was announced.
Since most board games are “Entire Game on One Screen” by default I decided to do something a little different and condense a full pen & paper roleplaying game in one page.
– Microsoft Word.
– Photoshop.
[10:50pm] Teams full into production. All are become delusional and dizzy. Programmers confusing each other. Takes a break to watch a Futurama.

Hi!
Im entering the Ludum Dare 31 Compo tomorrow.
Looking forward for a weekend of coding!
Im using:
Unity
Audacity
Garageband.
Have a great weekend and see you all tomorrow!
Hi All,
I am a musician and would be happy to help out in the jam. My portfolio is at http://bjderganc.com
You can find work from the last couple of jams in the odds and ends page.
BJ
First time and really have no idea what to expect. I guess I’ll see everyone on the other side!
Alright, how does this work? I’m going to try to balance familial responsibility (nephew’s birthday) with making some kind of game, maybe.
Being that this is my first Ludum Dare, and I’m no programming genius, I’ll be using Construct 2 for most of this. Bfxr for sound, probably. If I get to music, I’ll most likely use Figure on my iPhone.
This will probably end up being a Jam entry, because I’ll almost certainly run out of time, although I’ll be starting, at least, with the Compo in mind.
But for now, I have to travel by train to the mountainous sticks to perform my duties as uncle.
Poot.

Follow up to my previous post – here are my tools!
Framework: Phaser.js – I’m still learning it! If I chicken out, I’ll fall back on my boilerplate Javascript code which can be found here
Graphics: GIMP, or just random geometrical shapes
Sound: BFXR if I get around to it (I’ve never done sound before – I want to change that).
GOAL: completed game; sharpened decision-making skills.
Super excited.
I couldn’t submit anything last LD30 due to technical issues at home, so now it’s time for revenge! (Well, technically it’s time to go and get some sleep before the theme announcement, but you get the point)
My development choices:
* Unity + Visual Studio or Haxe/Haxeflixel for code. I’m still undecided on this, and the choice will probably be taken once I know what kind of game I’ll make.
* Art: Photoshop almost for sure, then Aseprite or maybe even Inkscape.
* Audio: Bfxr and Bosca Ceoil are likely candidates, with some Audacity magic here and there.
* Dwarf rabbit for moral support.
Good luck to everyone and, most important, have fun!
I’m in again. This is my second time in the Ludum Dare and invaluable experience was gained from the first one. Let’s hope I can make something good this time!
I’m using:
Unity3D
Photoshop or Paint.NET
Maya (if I’m doing 3d)
Unsure on sound
My 2nd Ludum Dare, so excited!
Last time I participated in the Jam and I’m not sure if that’s going to happen again. If I’m on my own, I’ll aim for the Compo but @chriskdev and I might join forces and make a 100% Trite Games game for the Jam
My tools:
Alright, I’m off to bed to get some sleep and have a fresh start. Happy game making everyone! 😀
First Ludum Dare for me, and I’ll be entering the fray with my brother, him on the programming, me on the art side of things.
He will be using Game Maker Studio for the programming and interaction design, while I’ll probably be using a wide array of art tools, depending on what sort of style we end up going for.
(probably at least Photoshop and Maya)
Good luck to all of you guys!
I’m in ludum for the first time. It’s will be my 3rd jam in 1 year, I can’t stop !
I will do the jam because a friend will do the music
Have Fun and good luck !
Looking forward to trying out my first Ludum Dare Tomorrow 😀
Most likely going to be using Unity with some mates and am kinda really hoping ☃ doesn’t win the theme…
I’ll use Unity3D, Blender and LMS!
I’be been counting down the days until I get to put my Ludum Dare hat* on for the 8th time. There’s tons of tools I might use, but here’s what’s most likely:
Let’s make some games!
*not an actual hat
This is it, I’ve been spectating the Ludum Dares for about 2 years now and I’m finally going to join in! Here are my tools:
Engine: Unity 3D (because I’m not that good with UE4 yet *sigh*)
Art: Sketchbook Pro, Photoshop, ToonBoom Studio & possibly Silo 2
Audio: I’m terrible at making music so I’ll be looking for royalty free music & sound effects ;).
I did a Ludum Dare a few years ago, and now that I’m out of college I’ve got a bit more energy to devote.
Engine: Unreal 4
3d: Blender
2d: Photoshop
Sound: Audacity + MuseScore
Good luck!
Well, Ludum Dare 31 has finally rolled around. I have set my eyes on for some months now. Sadly, I’ve the most advanced thing I have coded so far is an AI for a tic tac toe game in java that did not involve GUI. Although still fairly new to visual basic, I plan to try coding a game in that now and am hesitant about whether I’ll complete anything or not. I’ve coded pong and a block buster game in VB so to go to a full game seems ambitious. I have to learn how to make maps and pixel art now on top of learning how to add music. Well, I’m grateful for this competition that is giving me motivation to learn as quickly as I can to produce something. Anyways, good luck to everyone out there, especially the newbies like me! 😀
I’m not quite in yet. Although I’m quickly running out of time.
This is really just a hello post. I’ve never done a Ludem Dare before, but I’m a big fan of the Global Game Jam. I’m thinking about it since I’ll be at MAGfest over GGJ weekend.
I did sign up for Twitch. You know. Just in case…
Howdy peeps! I’m in for yet another Ludum Dare! Bring it on!
I’m hoping to do something with the Jam Assets, so this will be the first time I have done something for the Jam instead of the compo, though I think I will still enter after two days 😛
I will be using Flash!
Wife’s birthday is tomorrow so I’m going to be a day out of luck on this one. Whatever it is, it’s going to have to be super-duper quick to put together.
Probables: AngularJS, Python/Flask, bsfx, one of the standard music tools maybe, lots of caffeine.
Also: maybe a free font tool, music generator, tile set stuff, etc.
Yeah, so decided it wasn’t really realistic to finish in 2 days, so I’ll be participating in the Jam instead!
Fun times!
You will find my code at
https://bitbucket.org/TPHRyan/ld31
for your perusal, if anyone cares that much!
I’m gonna participate in the compo.
Unreal Engine 4
C++/Blueprints
SFXR
Audacity
Almost forgot to share my base code.
It’s just my simple Lua class system, you can find it here.
I hope I don’t fall asleep before the theme is announced, good luck everyone!
Soon the compo will start, can’t wait 😀
I’ll be using:
☃ Good luck everyone ☃
The first Ludum Dare I enter was the #23 one. Also, it’s was the only successful one…the other ones I failed because I lacked willpower.
So it’s time to enter again. With determination.
Weapons:
Good luck, everyone.
This is my first time, and I’m definitely not expecting to actually accomplish anything! I’m hoping to gain some XP that I can spend for skill points later.
Programming stuffs: Typescript & EndGate
Graphics stuffs: Gimp, off course!
Music stuffs: … ok, ya got me.
Doing the Compo, second ludum dare, but this time I’ll try not to bite off more than I can chew. That means, no trying to make an entire RTS within a weekend.
I’m not sure what I’m doing yet for tech, I guess it depends on what I want to make. I’ll probably use what I know, so either LibGDX + GWT, Flash, plain JS, or paper and crayons.
Time to stock up on snacky cakes
I’m in for my fist Jam.
Tools: Unity3d + Illustrator + Very interesting 3rd part assets.
There are lot of interesting themes, PLEASE DON’T CHOOSE THE SNOWMAN.
I’ll be using Artifakt a java gaming library, and paint dot net for the drawing when I get there.
I’m in for the eighth time, and really happy to compete again. I’ll need to scale back as I have a fancy holiday work party to attend (I threatened my co-workers that I would bring my laptop and work during the party). In any case, my tools and base code haven’t changed, but for the record here they are:
Programming: Visual Studio, C# using XNA 4.0. Really can’t let the library die, I just pull it out each competition and let it limp on. I need to take a day and port everything to monogame and be done with it, but not this time.
Graphics: Paint.NET, Corel Photopaint, Sketchbook Pro, and lots of paper and pencil work.
Sound: SFXR, FamiTracker, Audacity, Baritone Ukulele
Base Code: My custom engine. It’s a pretty extensive collection of input, sound, and graphics wrappers with a really great camera and animation support. No changes from last time, but there are so many goodies in there that I’ve pretty much abstracted out XNA from the library. Seriously steal my code.
Font: For any text display, I have been using a free font from http://www.proggyfonts.com/, specifically Proggy Square. I have converted it to a spritefont (PNG) for use in XNA (both full size, and something that fits in 8×8 for NES style graphics). The original font and converted formats can be downloaded Here.
So, less than 2 hours before the competition is off, and I have finally decided that I AM IN!
Given that I live in Scandinavia, I am about to go to bed, with the objective of waking up to the theme announcement.
I plan on implementing my game with javascript using Phaser.js.
(wow, I have been rewriting this “I’m in”-post over and over; it’s just words, right?)
This is my 4th Ludum Dare and I’ll be using the following tools.
Language: Java with LibGDX
Audio: sfxr/bfxr
Graphics: Paint.NET & GIMP
Looking forward to theme reveal. Good luck everyone.
I’m in!
this is my first LD :33
•my battle station:
*Programming stuff : Game Maker Studio;
*Art stuff : My brain (? GMS built-in editor;
*Music : uhmm i got have to think in something… .
*Sound effects : BFXR;
-Gabb
With cocos2d-js, brackets and love for game
Just uploaded my project base I will be working off here:
https://github.com/wiltaylor/LD31
Not much in the way of base code. Just a repo setup for source control with VSUnity installed so I can use Visual Studios and my buildall package installed to help build for multiple targets easily.
Good luck everyone :).
I kinda want to participate, but I don’t know how motivated I’ll be tomorrow… (LD starts at 3am where I’m located, not staying awake till then.)
As usual my tools will include:
Fourth time participating!
Using Flixel and Flashdevelop, Gimp and Audacity… maybe my Guitar for the music, depends on the game, who knows?
Good luck to everyone!
It’s been quite a while since I made a game for Ludum Dare! I’ll be entering the Jam with @GameDevDave, flexing my (out of shape) AGS muscles again.
It’ll be a real challenge, since I’m attending the AdventureX conference on Saturday, and I’ll be working on Monday, so I actually have very little time. With that in mind, I’ve made sure I have a working game template in AGS before we get started. It’s not much, but it brings things up to speed with our previous entries in terms of basic point & click mechanics.
Not a clue what it’ll be about, of course. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Aiming for a reasonable 320×200 resolution, and VGA palette. Nothing fancy – we just want to get something finished.
Remember that when the theme is announced, the website usually shuts down for a while. The theme is available on Twitter, of course…But what you might not be aware of is that the theme is announced on IRC, with lots of people watching! The channel is silenced while the theme is announced, then a couple minutes later it’s un-silenced and everyone celebrates or complains…It’s an all-around fun event! So join us on IRC in a couple hours. I’ll be sticking around a while after the announcement to brainstorm game ideas with everyone in the channel!
…
(…unless the theme is ☃, in which case I may be completely out of ideas)

I didn’t participate in a while, but this time I’m in for my 3rd Ludum Dare.
Language:
C#
Libraries:
– my gameapparat Engine (or XNA as an emergency fallback in case it fails
)
– maybe Farseer Physics
Tools:
– Visual Studio
– Photoshop
– Allegro Sprite Editor (maybe)
– Spine (maybe)
– sfxr/bfxr
– Audacity
Base code (in case i end up using XNA): download
I’ll try to make something not too complex because I have family commitments on Sunday. So, I’ll have less than 48h to work on it 😛
Good luck to everybody 😀
–
Programming: Flash / Action Script 3
Graphics: Photoshop / Illustrator / Flash
Sound: as3sfxr, Bosca Ceoil, BeepBox
–
Edit: “Illustrator / Flash” included on Graphics after considering to work with vectors instead of pure pixelart. I work faster with vectors than pixelart and I don’t have too much time.
