I’m in- Hello, Ludum Dare!
Hi, everyone. This is my first competition in Ludum Dare. Anyway, I’ll be using Ruby and Gosu. Um, I think that’s all. Unless I need to say MS Paint, PNG filetype, and Notepad++. Yeah, I’m very new.
Hi, everyone. This is my first competition in Ludum Dare. Anyway, I’ll be using Ruby and Gosu. Um, I think that’s all. Unless I need to say MS Paint, PNG filetype, and Notepad++. Yeah, I’m very new.
I’ve participated in the previous two LDs and I’ve been waiting for this one ever since I finished the last one! I’m going to do a few things differently this time:
1. I’ll be using HTML5/Javascript for practice, even though I’m much more comfortable with AS3. I’m going to start with some base code I put together myself (it’s mainly to deal with animated sprites) which you can get here.
2. This time I’m determined to finish in 48 hours! My past two attempts dragged on into the Jam time even though I’m working alone. This time I’m going to make sure to finish the basic game and then have time to improve.
Good luck everyone!
Hi guys!
Gonna enter my first LD alone. Not sure if that was a good choice, but don’t really have a team-mate handy. Im going to use game maker for the programming, sfxr for some sounds and some royalty-free music.
Cant wait to start 😀
Hey everyone!
I’ve done a Global Game Jam before, but this is my first Ludum Dare. I’m admittedly quite nervous, so I think I’m going to cut myself a bit of slack and just go for the Jam this time ’round. I’m going to be using Construct 2 to give myself a bit more time to focus on the art, which is my primary skillset. I’ll work in Photoshop and Graphics Gale for that. For music, I have no idea what I’m doing; I’m not a sound person. I’ll probably use CGMusic or some music generator like that.
For my first time, I kind of just want to test the waters and have some fun. Nice meeting you all!
I’ve been following Ludum dare for a year now. I found out about Ludum dare by watching Notch’s live stream of him making prelude of the chambered. I watched it from beginning to end and was so intrigued with it that I decided to start learning Java. I learnt in small doses over a period of 9 months until june when I really picked it up. 2 or 3 weeks ago I started programming a game : ).
I talked to a guy last night who said it takes years of experience to make a game and doing it alone is worse. Thinking that was true I went to lay down. Laying there I questioned If I am ready to make a game… and I came to the conclusion…
Hell Yes!!! I have a year of on and off Experience. I have been making so much progress in the last two months and my game is doing fine. If I get stuck I work my ass off to find the problem, and when I find it I learn how to fix it and make it better. I’m not saying that I don’t have SO MUCH MUCH MORE to learn. What I am saying is that YOU DO NOT need a lot of experience to make a game.
To those participating in the compo and the jam, do your best and give it your all, I cant wait to play your games. Have a Good day and will see you all At the compo.
I am making a small game in 12 – 18 hours to practice for the Compo at 1 AM PST which is in less than 50 minutes. I’ll see you there! 😀 http://www.twitch.tv/skyllartor (viewers decide the theme)
In LD22 I used a decent framework (melonjs), but had never used it before and suffered a significant time penalty learning what I could and couldn’t do with it. I spent way to much time tinkering and learning.
In LD23 I built everything from scratch (for a text based game). I knew the tools well, and didn’t need a bunch of art, but I spent most of my time on framework. The story and game-play suffered significantly.
This time around, I’m opting to use tools that I’m familiar with, and that provide a significant amount of framework to build atop — I’ll be using LÖVE, and probably the Hump, anim8, and, possibly, advanced tiled loader libraries.
The downside is that they won’t be immediately playable in the browser, but the upside is that linux, osx, and windows are all supported, and there’s not much to install.
First time go at this, so I think I’ll be rocking Unity.
Not much to say really. Should be fun, gonna give it my best, see what happens.
Ooh-rah
Woot!
As usual, I will be using :
My first Ludum Dare that I’m committing myself to. I’ve only really made a small handful of terrible games, but I’m sure I can crank out something special for this occasion.
Nothing much else to say really, good luck to the rest of the participants!
I’ve decided to greenlight the elevator game and the documentary today. Maybe if I have time this week, I’ll make a rough cut of the more entertaining stuff I shot today (and will tomorrow). I’ve made plenty of silly errors in my coding due to my slightly haphazard and off track mind. It should make for something funny even if the game turns out shitty.
Plus, Perlenspiel is working out to be a good engine for quick games. I started coding it 2 hours ago and I have a working prototype already done.
I’m back ! And I’ll write JS DOM one more time !
Why would you ask ? ’cause canvas is for hipster! And I’m not an hipster, I’m a lazy code writer. So hopefully, you’ll get some more polished JS fun than my previous, unfinished, minecraftesque rogue-like.
Hey ho all, first time I’ll be doing the Ludum Dare Jam rather than the Compo, but this should be a good one. Going back to Sydney to meet up with my GGJ 2012 team, Team Ourbros, who made Expendable (http://globalgamejam.org/2012/expendable-0) We’re going to crank out a game in 72-hours over a fun packed long weekend! As usual, we will be using my engine “Psybrus” (https://github.com/neilogd/Psybrus).

Ed, Ben, NeiloGD & Dezzles!
Hey guys, just wanted to say I’m in, I will be participating in the 48h compo, with the following tools :
My trusty Asus eeePC with Arch Linux, an old Dell Inspiron laptop with WinXP and my “gaming” machine with Windows7 (“gaming” is between quotes, because the machine has some severe problems and is about 6 years old now)
Software:
I can’t wait to get this event on the road, and I wish the best of luck to all of you out there!
Hopefully my first Ludum Dare will also be my first complete game. I’m all hyped up!
I plan to use HTML5, with Paint.NET for art and bfxr for the sound.
Good luck to everyone! Let’s do this!
Good day! I’ll be using Stencyl for my game, which allows people to use others’ creations. So yeah, I’m doing Jam. Sfxr’ll be used for sound effects (if needed), and Newgrounds Audio is used for music.
I’m wondering if my real life/ time zone difference will wreak havoc. Hopefully not.

Heya, just wanted to create one of these here I’m in post thingies. I’ll be using either Unity/C# or HTML5/Javascript depending on the game I go for. CUE 48h POWAH!
Good luck. And don’t play Sosowski’s potato game.
I’ve wanted to take part in previous Ludum Dare, but I couldn’t do so because of lack of time. However, we’ve got holidays now, so I’ll sure find time for this one. I hope theme will be good(as probably all of us
).
This is my equipment:
Language: Java
IDE: Eclipse
Engine: Slick2D(http://slick.cokeandcode.com/) or my personal SGE(https://github.com/tomsik68/Simple-Game-Engine) written in pure java. Depends on game I’ll want to make.
Graphics: Paint.NET, GIMP, Inkscape
Sound(if there’ll be any): sfxr
Well, it’ my first Ludum Dare.
I hope I will make a quality game.
Language : HTML5/JS + PHP
IDE : Notepad ++
Graphics : Paint
Hi developers,
it’s LD time again. I am preparing to participate.
Language: C++
IDE: Code::Blocks
Graphics: Gimp, Inkscape
Audio: FL Studio
Extra Libraries: SP Game Framework
Can’t wait to see the theme. I want to write a small techdemo-like-game as a proof of concept.
I will build the theme into this in some way
Weee ! Even if i failed(again) the last ludum dare, it was really fun so…let’s do this again.
For this one i will code in as3 using flixel(and the powertools because holy shit this is awesome) and dame as map editor, paint.net for the graphics, bfxr for the sound and maybe autotracker-bu if i ever want to add some musics.
