Noo
I was so close to slaughtering all the themes, I got like 3000+ before it switched to theme voting... :(

Round one has not so many themes, that offer god starting points for me. I also wonder about those many one-word-themes. I find them too widely interpretable and at the same time a bit uninspiring.

Exams are around the corner and a certain game-jam too! I really want to join Ludum-Dare, this year cause its always fun and you get to make a game. I think I will collaborate with an artist or make the game really simple visual and mechanics-wise.
Also I need a break from a project I am working on. [If you want to follow its development you could check my twitter ;)]

Mixed opinions on these themes, but overall I'd say they're pretty good. I'd be interested to see what I could do with the strength in numbers theme...
Anyways, here's my votes.

Theme voting round 1 is a big yikes...... :disappointed_relieved:
Doing the slaughter round gave me a new perspective on this. It was interesting to see what made it through. I think I might be a bit jaded :P
why do you participate in game jams (or ludum dare specifically)?
I made a duplicate post so I edited this one for that
praying for the final round to have more "+1"

My first Ludum Dare and I'm so excited! During the slaughtering I didn't understand why so many themes about "hiring", until I saw “Ludum dare is Hiring” post. hehe. But after that I started to really like the themes related to Hiring, First day on the Job and similars.

Oh hey there! Thanks for stopping here to read my post among the flood of voting screenshots
Our team, The Hyperatlantic, is ~~looking for more jammers to join us~~ for LD49! If you're interested, click here to check out my previous post about us and how to reach me! :)
Update: Thank you for the messages! We've got enough people to complete our team now :)
I love participating in Ludum Dare. Unfortunately, I'm dealing with some tragedy. While LD is a much better distraction than stuff like Reddit and YouTube, I'll probably only get a few hours free over the weekend. Hoping for a theme that gives me an idea for a very easy game to develop.
If I can't find the time to develop, I figure there's other ways I can interact with the community.
First, I'd still love to play and review games. I won't have access to my PC and it's bit too risky to set up dual-booting atm (using this Mac for work too), but I'll play as many Mac and Web games as I can. I'll be actively looking for them, but feel free to directly solicit me to play yours.
I'll also try to make time to playtest if you have anything you'd like feedback on while in development Again, Mac and Web only.
Speaking of Mac, I can help with Mac ports. I already made a post about a common problem with Mac games, so that's useful if you want to port yourself or fix an already-broken port. I develop in Unity, so if you're willing to share your project files I can also build Mac ports.
If you'd like and extra coder to pick up some slack, or I can probably find time to at least do some code reviews, debugging, and general suggestions. I don't think I'd work on the level to be an official part of any team.
Hi guys! I'm new to Ludum Dare and I really enjoy gaming competitions! We hope we can get along here! :D
Going to use p5.js and maybe some physics framework in javascript for my game this time around. Will be interesting to see if i can get it done in time :D

...But I don't really care about that; I just don't seem very enthused with this first round, and that worries me a little. There's not really any one theme that I like, and I know that isn't news to anyone.
Anyways, my (and I'd imagine other similarly less experienced entrant's) greatest fear entering this competition is not being able to make something you're proud of. I can imagine many ways to prevent this, like keeping a small scope for your entry and not being too experimental, among other things that I can't think of at the moment.
But if the worst happens, I don't exactly understand why one would submit an entry they clearly aren't proud of, apart from feedback and for having submitted something. Though I COULD understand that it would be better to submit something bad than not to submit anything at all. So my non-offense question is:
For those of you who HAVE submitted something you weren't proud of, is there anything in particular that you learned from the experience?
I'd be glad to see some answers; and that's not just me 'trying' to sound like I'm interested. I tend to check this site to see if I got any notifications, and it's (probably) wonderful when there are. Obviously you don't have to respond, I just wanted to say that I am genuine; right now, I don't get many notifications, and I'm aware that that's WAY better than having WAY too many!
Either way, have a great day everyone; and hopefully the least worst theme wins! Whichever that one is.
