I almost had to pull out of the jam last minute this year. Managed to make a start on Saturday though and I'm just finishing off my game now. So glad I was able to join you guys this year. It has been a great jam so far.
How are you jammers getting on with the end approaching?

finally our game is out! it's a simple race game with a little twist, play it and let us know if you liked it!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/meteor-racing
after helping my friend off and on today through the power outage and stuff, i had them send me a list of the Rest Of The Features The Game Needs
i've helped scope down a lot but it most likely won't be done by jam so Extra It Is for us lads
for now i rest my weary coding hands :sleeping_accommodation:
I feel really happy that my previous jams exeprience have been useful ! I managed to focus on gameplay and deliver a fun and working game ! But my ambitions were once again too high and didn't had time to focus on 3D visuals at all.
Next Ludum Dare I will try to better scope my project, if the game design is ambitions I will directly start with minimalistic graphics instead of trying to do polished and detailed 3D !
My game is playable here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/the-cyberzapper

"The curse of 10 seconds" is still in the manufacturing process, we are so excited, this is our first project

Just 12 more hours until submissions begin. Still a lot of polishing and balancing to be done, but excited to wrap up development for LD51
Hellooo !
Last day here we are !

It's just under 12 hours until the Jam ends and I made it through without giving up!

In this terrible game, you have to make it to the end of the level while a new enemy spawns every 10 seconds, shooting projectiles at you. It's extremely simple, has hideous programmer art and can be completed in 50 seconds (although, it will probably take longer for people who don't already know the optimal movements) but at least I can say I completed a Ludum Dare!
Today, I'll be making last minute changes and wrapping everything up. I'll probably submit it a few hours before Submission Hour, since this is my first Game Jam and I'm afraid of messing up the build/submission process and losing time.
Hi, I tried to embed my game on the game page but even if it uploads the zip successfully and the play button appears on the page, once you click it the game does not load (so now I removed it). So I tried to upload my game on itch.io and there everything works fine! I thought it was just a problem of my game, but then starting to vote games around I found out other games made with Godot with the exact same problem! The embedded game on this website does not work. Now I don't know if it's a problem of mine just with this website or there are also other people that had the same issue?

It grows is propably my best Jam game thus far its better in every aspect compared to my LD49 game(unstable clown kidnap you in cabin(i am still horrified at that game)) and it manages to be better then my LD48 game(golden cavern) too. I hope this is a sign of progress and that my future projects will go as well as this one too
Finished editing together a gameplay video demo for Killer Colour!
https://youtu.be/mW5gVcXJ3AI
Last day to finish everything up. Just playtesting and polishing now! I'm very happy with the result so far!

Good luck everyone!
Have to skip a class tonight (18:40 Beijing time now)
Hopefully i can make it

We are ready, come and try our Rhythm game! Become the greatest METALSMITH!

My entry for the LD51 compo: a game about seconds. Because every duelist needs one.

Sorry for spamming the front page, but I realized that you can't see someone's games when you click their name from the comment section, only their blog posts. Maybe this post is also a feature request?
Update: Hah, I was wrong! You see their bio, not their blog posts. But it seems that you also can't delete your blog posts, so this is another feature request...

The last two days have been very eventful and stressful. But I really liked the development of Switcheroo. Top-down shooter mechanics are not new for me and I knew approximately what and how to do. But I'm still pleasantly surprised at how everything fits together very harmoniously.
Thanks to everyone who has already played and shared their opinion, I really really appreciate it all. Looking forward to finishing this post and trying out all of YOUR games. I have already tried some of them: complex and simple, beautiful and experimental. It inspires me to see so many creative ideas and their implementation.
I have already seen a few shortcomings in my game and came up with a few ideas that could complement it very well.
I am very glad that people like this game and would really like to continue its development.
Switcheroo: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/switcheroo
First - my game Fire'n'Snail is finished and available for rate and play.

Lets talk about the Jam and the making.
I upvoted the theme "Every 10 seconds" as it sound pretty good. I still think its a good theme. However i had not "THE" idea, just ideas and just thinks i can do.
So instead of writing down a complete concept i just start what was mandatory. - a top down player - a timer that reset every 10 seconds
Again - i didnt nothing from that haha. Some devs "greybox" the gameplay to see if it works. I didnt do this again. The problem is i think "i could greyboy, but drawing the player is faster than replacing it" or something hehe.
The other problem was that until yesterday i was not sure if i should go for this idea (i had backup idea in mind). Also i break my own rule or my own advice that i gave in the "Unofficial Keynote": if you dont commit to this idea, skip it or make nothing. I thought often if i should give up, but i dont wanted to give up and i was so far in the state then.
Not so much at all - besides the feeling that i am not sure if i want to make this game. Level Design is not the best - i could do better.
It works good at all. I just invested not so much time as usual. I did slept more, do more real life stuff besides jam so i didnt feel like "ok if the game is bad, then it was not waste of time" and it was just a bit of crunch :). Also making art, coding without big struggle was something i didnt have often. It works more flawless as i expected.
There were better jams, but also more worse jams that i had in the past now 14th Jams that i participate in a ROW. I REALLY thought some moments "ok i should just stop right now and play some games" but then i got back to my desktop and i reflective start coding. So i had still fun in it - and that was important.
Now i will play some games from you :D
FINALLY got this put together. Feels good!
This was supposed to be a Compo entry, but a hurricane decided to knock out internet for most of Saturday, and I’m a hack programmer without the stack overflow crutch, so here we go Jam! (I know, Excuses, excuses...!) :-)
Anyway, I made an Arcade-y sort of thing. You're protecting spaceships evacuating from an alien attack through a wormhole. More civilians get added to the ship every 10 seconds, and you have to judge when to open the wormhole and get them out of dodge.
Also get ship upgrades to power up and be better at exploding baddies!
Anyway, try it out!
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/escape-from-planet-earth

In our game your main task is completing quests for a limited time. Every 10 seconds you'll receive different tasks from The BOSS and timer will start to count down. You'll need to move between departments and complete your quests.
In the end of the day you will find out if you are hired or not.
Do your game have WebGL-support? Add a comment and I will play and rate your game.
Instead of a well maintainable and scalable code that no one will maintain or scale.

First experience with game jams and godot engine at the same time. I like both 😀

I did this game in 5 hours. I didn't know Ludum Dare was happening this weekend, and I had other things going on, but I wanted to try, dang it!
I also didn't want to do the same old thing. A ball roller would have worked, it would have done exactly what I needed, but I've done a lot of ball rolling sims. Time to change it, even if just a little. So I made it 1st person.
I figured out how to do a timer, and a death screen.... and then couldn't find the vital bits to make the two work together. You are supposed to get a death screen after 10 seconds, but that missing code isn't there. HOWEVER! I think I can use what I've learned from this, and adjust a bit, and come back and finish this game next week.
Also... no music... I just didn't have time for music. I know there are ten more hours for the jam, but I have to leave for work in ten minutes. I spent all the time I could on this.
So, no rating, but I did make something, which is the first game I've made in a year. And I already know how to make it better, and have even more levels that get more challenging.

Participated in a jam for the first time... Would require feedback and rating on my game to improve them in future jams... https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/groovy-wars In return I will rate your games tooo

Time to make the main menu, tutorial and intro.
Was close to giving up. But so glad I stayed up the last few hours and submitted something. Learnt a lot and had some fun designing all these castle parts

Wasn't sure about this idea. I started with the visuals while I mused the gameplay. I was considering a puzzle of some sort but went with a merging mechanic to try and keep things strategic. I wish I had more time to complete everything. The UI needs more work so you can understand what towers are doing. And there is a lot of balancing required for these games. So apologies if your castle crumbles in a shower of tiny arrows before you've got going!
In Siege, you have to build a mighty castle quickly, but wisely, to defeat invaders who keep appearing every 10 seconds
Hope you all had a good jam and enjoy playing

But it's coming along quiet nicely.
We are struggling rn with our project but still so happy to be a part of it !
Here's what we had yesterday for fire propagation
Can't wait to show you what's going on next :spy:

Welp, that was our fist time making a game as a team ... and boy did we learn about game-making and about ourselves !
Having two artists in the team sure did wonders for us  (although they were new to pixel art)

I hope everyone had a good time, and I can't wait to see what you all made !
Hello everyone!
Last weekend I joined Ludum Dare #51 Compo and created "Monster's Dungeon Shop". While creating tons of assets for this game I thought I should share the Assets I created during the Jam.
This pack contains 57 Item. Things included in this pack (Also check the image):
-- 13 Item/weapon Set
--8 Level Sprites including tile able background
--12 Menu buttons and sprites including some social media icons
--13 Goblin sprites
Hope you like the pack. Do not forget if you use the content of the pack you have to give credits to me (even when you edited it).
You can find the pack on: denisaras.itch.io/monsters-dungeon-shop

Hey! Some screenshots from the game right now!

The first version of our game is finally playable.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/oroboros
We are really happy about what we did. Hope you will like it too.

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/banshee
Should I be concerned that the link isn't appearing or will it appear once the Jam has ended?
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/whats-under-the-teapot

Pretty close to writing it in stone and nailing the coffin shut. Except there is still no sound, can skeletons hear sound? Also, what happens after death? I haven't given that a thought yet.

At this point I think we are not gonna make it....dev thinks otherwise xD hope they is alright
What criteria do you use, usually?
The first connection Graphics and Mechanics.

Ludum dare viewer v1.0.1 is on itch.io.
Don't forget to refresh list of entries for current event coz jam and extra categories is still actual. Feel free for your feedback about bugs and any ideas. See ya!
Phew, after some hard work for 3 days, this game is complete.

We did it! Bumble Breeze is ready to be played.

Great effort by @doridie and @hneumann :)
Time to cool off a bit and play as many of your :bee:autiful creations as possible.
We submitted Dread Shadows, the game we made for the LD51 JAM. We are Magus and Falien (BF/GF) and we hope you'll play and rate our game. Of course we will return the favor if you leave us a comment.

Dread Shadows, our JAM Submission we made for the Ludum Dare 51 challenge with the theme "Every 10 Seconds".
Game Description
You are an explorer searching for the treasure room containing one of the legendary Crystal Skulls. Apparently the tomb you entered is cursed, lights go out every 10 seconds!
Use the time you have while you can see wisely, because you need your spatial awareness when it's dark. The tomb contains all sorts of dangers you don't want to run into! And while its dark, it's advised to keep moving around or else the mist of spirits will grow denser.
How to play
You can play the game at Itch.io in the browser, or download the stand alone client. The WebPlayer can be a little bit laggy or wonky. Use the download for the best experience. Use the link to itchio for the webversion, as it didn't fit in the LDjam embed.
How to rate and comment
Visit the Dread Shadows game page here on LD-JAM
with kind regards, Magus and Falien!
I see loads of games having no OSX or Linux build available. Guys if your engine supports crossplatform, please do us a favor and build crossplatform games :) I spent hours to install a windows in a vm to satisfy windows users for example as I don't have one.
Thanks!
So this jam is special for me. I really liked the theme and me and my team were able to come up with a pretty cool idea about getting information about your surroundings using a sonar every ten seconds. This made for a creepy but cool underwater experience.
So cool in fact, that I really want to keep developing this idea further. While I feel like the game right now isn't exactly the best it could be because of the time we had to develop it, I think that if I have more time to experiment with it, it can grow into something bigger.
If you do decide to try my game out, please let me know what you think so that I could take all the feedback into consideration when further developing it.

I figure out a proper trailer could be interesting. So here it is: https://youtu.be/_qPGvXjGcy4
Welcome jumping into my Last 5 Minutes
After a week at a work conference, I get home on Friday for LD51 only to find that I've caught a cold (or the rona, not sure). Given that, I had to reduce the scope massively. So much in fact that this is the first time I haven't been working on the game up to the 11th hour.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/$296646

Here's some animations.

Hey, guys! I'm a newbie and I need some help with creating links.
I've made a short creepy game with UE4 for compo and uploaded my UE4 project as a course code on Drive.
So the problem is I don't see the link on my game page for some reasons. What am I doing wrong?
This is how it looked like on the submission page:

But it's not displayed on my game page.
Should I just add the link to the description of the game? Would it break the rules?

Hello, my teammember has no idea I'm posting her splash art for our game on this feed. I hope you appreciate me being sneaky :)

Wow, so sneaky

So, turns out it's pretty fun to play it on mobile!

I am a bit lazy, and it's quite annoying for me to open a game looking cool, but to see that there is no HTML5 or Linux version, and then I have to reboot on my Windows to test it. Please link me your game if you have a Linux or HTML5 build and I'll be very happy to give it a try
Guys, I came to share with you my participation in Ludum Dare 51. I followed the idea, to put a 😺 Black cat in space. The game is a lot of fun, for those who developed it alone in just two days. Check it out!

Hello guys!
Our designer is working hard and drawing a lot of cats 😱

Also our level designer is doing office level 💼

it is easy for developers to make game out of this theme but hard to play these games

Hi No.10! Welcome to Top Science Tech!
Every 10 seconds, the conveyor belt brings a batch of goods.
Just need to pack and load them.
One more thing, please don't be surprised about goods, just pack them as fast as you can!
If you have more questions, the in-game Employee Handbook can help you.

I was wondering that. I Just got only one bad vote with no comment and I don't understand why ? Is there some people here who have interest to do that ? If the game is bad, explain why ? If it's good I understand there is no comment
https://youtu.be/qlJrgnk_0mg

Looking to review some submissions this evening! Comment below with your game and I'll try to get to them all!
In the meantime, I'd appreciate some feedback on my arcade dash-em-up!
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/reference-frame

In this game, you have to escape the oasis (get to the end of the level) while a new enemy spawns every 10 seconds. Get out fast to avoid being swarmed!
It's quite terrible, but at least I was able to complete a Ludum Dare!
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/oasis-escape

Unfortunately, can't finish this one - bummer. Losing the first day of the JAM to unexpected family obligations really hurt my chances are pulling through. Just needed a good ~12hrs to finalize texturing, screen space shaders, ability upgrades/mutations, more enemy variations - and different attack types... time I am unable to use (even if I could obtain it) - as I have classes again in a few hours (need a few Zs >.<).
Took a quick video of the latest progress of the work I completed so far, just for those interested in how things had progressed... There's always next time :).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckpFuWxV0Nw
Had so much planned and background stuff built for systems I was unable to pull together... On the positive side, I can always gut parts of this project for future projects now, so no losses here :D.
Stuff like: (Texture mask for screen-space shading effects that warp + glitch + blur the black areas, and leave the red areas as "Stable Space") - this can be used for Fog of War and all sorts of fun stuff.

Can also use the character model I threw together for something, it was a quick homage to Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. (Rigged, Animated, Unwrapped, Unfinished XD).

That and much more, Event systems, Abstracted classes, fun and clean playthings.
I'll need to work harder, and with the full time allotment next time! Off to sleep now.
мышь(крадётся)

After 3 days of almost non stop 3am in australia finally done. Can't wait to see the results!
First time join the Ludum Dare, we believed that we've tried our best; Even changed our mind at the middle of the jam. That's lots of pressure for us. Hope you can enjoy and find interesting of our game. There's a little bit intro.
The Game: Micestic(Mystic) Territory
Introduction: It's adventure story about a mouse who was poor and hungry, eat an poisonous mushroom by accident, then fell into an mystic territory.

Final Push for our game: Groceries Please! We will stream until the end of the jam!
Here's a sneak peak of our game:

See you on https://www.twitch.tv/tobugis
Just a small tip for people who might need it: To get your game views and ratings, obviously play and rate games yourself, but more importantly:
I've got a handful of ratings on my games, but no comments; Most people who participate will reciprocate the ratings if you comment on their game! With no comments, we don't know who to go back to in order to return the favor!

I can't say it's finished. Still very rough art and annoying music. I didn't have time to dedicate myself to Ludum Dare, but I still wanted to join. So, here it is.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/cypon
It was fun. It's been a while since the last time I made a game.
Next time I will try to spare more time for LD!
(It's midnight here, and I need to go to work tomorrow, hence the early submission)
first playable alpha build is almost done and we are very hyped about that!

I don't know why the HTML couldn't open after uploading, but luckily it was uploaded to itch. Looking forward to your feedback.

Is it possible? I've opted-in to audio category, but my game doesn't have any sounds :(
Does any particular category aside from overall contribute to the end score a game is given?

I hadn't done a ludum dare in years! Glad to be finally be able to make something for it, even if it's super janky and the sound got completely changed during exporting for some mysterious reason.
But still!
I made a thing!
