Team Trans Rescue for LD Compo 59

Trans Rescue - Primary Logo - Black-Transparent.png

We're Trans Rescue

We get trans people out of places where it's dangerous to be trans. It's hard work, so we like to kick back and play sometimes. We're entering LD Compo 59.

Want to do a bit of good with your game jam time? We'll be putting a link to Trans Rescue's donation page on our close screen. So maybe we'll do something for a trans person who needs it.

Know git and some subset of Unity, Blender, texture creation, sound design, C# programming, game design, and/or dialog writing? Drop an email to annie@transrescue.org to let us know you're up for it, with your Github handle and Ludum Dare handle. We're on Unity and probably making a 3D game.

Unity developer looking for artist to partner up with

Hello there.

I'm a game programmer, currently looking for a game artist to partner up with for the jam and, ideally, for longer term adventures. I'm open to working with an experienced game designer too.

Here's my (slightly outdated) portfolio: https://renanvieira.carrd.co.

Please feel free to reach out via Discord (rkvieira).

Best regards!

For Ludum Dare 59, I'm switching from Godot to JavaScript

Hi!

For my 10th Ludum Dare, I'm making a change and switching from Godot to JavaScript. It's more than enough for the kind of 2D games I make, and it gives me more freedom in certain areas. Granted, Godot definitely wins in other aspects, like 2D pathfinding, navigation nodes, and an amazing tilemap editor. Let's see how it goes!

First Godot Jam!?

I had completely forgotten about Ludum Dare 59, time's just been flying by!

I've previously been using Unity for all my projects, however, I think it might be time to give Godot an honest chance.

It's a weird feeling. I've become so proficient in Unity that I can easily jump straight into creating. Working with a new engine will produce a new set of challanges which will limit my productivity. However, I believe that part of this journey is about the experiences gained, and not solely the final product.

Wishing you all happy holidays and a fun jam!

Farewell, Ludum Dare

I have to admit, I'm really disappointed by the recent announcement. I was really looking forward to taking part in LD59. I spent about a month preparing... just to hear it's closing down forever :'(

Ludum Dare was like a convention where game developers got together to view each other's work, and I'm very sad to see it go.

I wish all of you good luck in the future.

For those who haven't already seen it, the Ludum Dare YouTube channel posted a really heartwarming farewell video about the history of Ludum Dare: https://bit.ly/4cjihDN

So when do we start "Im In" posting?

The normal barrage of "Im In!"

Actually I really don't like those posts - we need something else, where we can show our intent to do LD, and what language, tools, people we will be working with.

Joining in on the fun!

I feel like joining again!~ Themes I suggested are 'Mythical' and 'Alignment'. I will be going for a text choice adventure thingy like before, limited but doable still.Screenshot_20260405-191007.Chrome.png

I'm sure this edition will be quite interesting

I have joined!

These are the themes I have decided to suggest. I always like themes that can be interpreted in many ways, with those more relevant to gameplay than to the setting being the ones I prefer the most, which is what influenced my suggestions.
