My First Game Jam (Most Likely)

I've been wanting to participate in a game jam for a while now, but my schedule just hasn't fit very well. I'm looking forward to finally being able to compete. I probably won't be incredible at it, but I will certainly do my best.

Tools:

  • Love2D and Lua
  • Vim for an editor
  • Lmms or Ardour for Music
    • Possibly sources like incompetech.com
  • Gimp for pixel art
  • Blender for modelling (if necessary)

Good luck everyone! Break a leg!

Question about Base code

I'm working on another hobby game to try to get myself in the right headspace for Ludum Dare, and there are a lot of really helpful "libraries" that I've created that I'd like to use in the finished project. Most of these are just common problems that I might encounter (9-slicing, tweening, sound management, etc.) Should I post them publicly, or can I just use them? I'll like to them in a Gist or something similar if that's good practice.

I'll be streaming this one

I don't have a microphone or anything hooked up, but anyone that wants to see my (lack of) progress on my game is welcome to look at my stream. When I'm not actively working, it will just be broadcasting a frame of text with some hasty chiptune music looping in the background.

Stealth Puzzle Game

I haven't refined this too much, but basically the idea is that you need to solve puzzles by doing things that guards don't want you to do. You sometimes have to expose yourself in the open, and sometimes you have to do things that guards will notice later. That's as about as refined as it is for the moment, and I know that that's not the "most incompatible" of genres, but it's certainly a take that I haven't seen done before, so I'm gonna call it a good premise.
