A little progress

I’ve added some more thing like loading the minimap colors from a txt file which you can edit in order to make your own map with your own tiles. HERE you can download the game so far. If you can comment about things that you think are bad or wrong or generally what can I change or add. Thanks.

First working version!

Wow!! It’s so cool that it’s now 12 hours more, it’s exactly what I need to finish my game. Now after 20 hours of coding and drawings with only 4 hours of sleep the night before, I need to rest!! HERE is my entry so far, sorry that it’s only for windows. So good night to all of those who is going to sleep, and good luck to all of those that still working.

Finished!!! (but i need a little help..)

Thanks to the 12 hours spare I could finished my game properly(almost). You can check my entry HERE. I’ve added sounds and background sounds(the clock..) and added some courses to the map. Now it looks fine, but now it’s for windows users only.. this was my second game in c++ so I have no idea how to port it to linux and to mac, the game is in allegro so it suppose to be possible. Can anyone explain how I port it to other platforms? I’ve added a source to the entry so maybe someone can do it for me please? thanks. and some photos:

Just took a look at it on my system. No trouble with allegro, but g++ threw a couple of errors about your code.

1. You use min as both a function and a variable

2. You use the function itoa, which is not declared anywhere (that I could find).

If you can tell me what the bits of code where that is relevant are trying to do I can run it on my machine, but unfortunately I don’t know how you can get it to run an other machine without everyone who uses it having to recompile.

I’m in!!

As the title say I’m in. I’ve been studding computer graphics and openGL for a while and now I’m gonna put my skills to the test with my first 3D java game.

Tools:

  • Language: Java
  • Programming: Eclipse
  • Libraries: LWJGL (for openGL), GLApp (model loading and other cool stuff)
  • Base-code: my unfinished tile map editor, and other small parts
  • Modeling: Blender
  • Art: GIMP, pyxel edit, or whatever I’ll find useful
  • Music: sfxr, or whatever I’ll find useful

So now it’s time to sleep, and tomorrow it’s LUDUM DARE!!!

Time running out!!

Almost one day passed and I’m still didn’t finish my tile map editor, hope to make some progress till evening.. but now it’s FOOD TIME!!

OM NOM NOM!!

Day one results

First day is over and the only think I’he managed to make is the map editor so I guess I’ll probably join the jam. Since this is my first OpenGL game I had LOTS AND TONS of problems and bugs, and still couple left. Here is how my editor looks like:
#gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ Ludum Dare 23_00 Ludum Dare 23_01

No compo for me D: (maybe jam)

Had lots of problems that took lots of my time and still don’t have any art or game goal. What I do have is a cool map editor and basic gaming like building facilities and resources collecting. Here how it looks with temporary art:

I’m still aiming for the jam so I’m not out yet!

Late entry but I’m in!!

Earlier I’ve decided not to enter this Luudum dare due to a lack of time, but when reading others entries I suddenly had a small idea for a game and I might actually enter with a small game.
The game is about 2 races – red and blue, each race controls a ‘town’ and have 3 types of units which are stronger against some units but weaker against the other like in Rock-paper-scissors game:

you control one town and choose what units to produce, when one type of units defeats enough opponents this type of units evolves and it’s race will now produce an upgraded units of this type which will be faster or something, and when all units evolves ? times you can create the ultimate unit that defeats everything.
Gonna make this in ‘game maker 8 pro’ and ‘paint’.
Good luck.

sub-orbital meteor destroys everything… :) (I mean when you punch the opponent in the face in rock-paper-scissors not letting you win!)

I was having a bad time

Here I wanted to make a small game in game maker, but ended messing up with game maker because I’m not quite familiar with it scripting language.

Anyway now I have a challenging strategy puzzle game (not sure if there is a winning strategy or always draw), and template graphics with no sound:

You can play it HERE.
Tomorrow I will add some new sprites and sound.
Good luck to everybody.

Mostly I’m done

Today I polished the game a little, added menus, added a few sound and fixed a couple bugs. This game is short and simple but very challenging at first, you can accept my challenge HERE.

An extra extra late “I’m in!”

So I started preparing to ludum dare only in friday which ended up being too late (extra late).
I decided I should write all the basics before the actual game, like image and sound loaders, also after watching the “how to make your game juicy” I couldn’t pass the opportunity to add some image effects and particles, so after a lot of coding, debugging and 4 hours of sleep, it’s already 25% past ludum dare and I’m very tired but I do have a nice and working mini engine, I also have a nice timer class with fps independed smooth movement :)
Still have no idea for a game, but I can show a small example of my mini engine, it has nothing to do with the game but HERE.

working fine now, thanks!

Progress.. followed by a long sleep/break.

First, I still haven’t posted any of my meals, so there you go:
15122012140
So my first day is over, and I’m still near nowhere.
I’m aiming for a game where you are a boss, and heroes are coming to kill you one after another.
It seem like you have kidnapped some princess.. and turned it into a goat.
I was trying to create a “life” environment, but ended up with a lame one weird one.
You can see it for yourself HERE. (I have no idea why, but sometimes the link seems broken, refreshing solves it for me)

It’s just ridiculous, how every time I think I’m more ready and more experienced, but still ending up falling between the chairs.
Anyway there is still a whole day (or even two), so I still might be able to get somewhere.
I’m so tired, I’m gonna fall a sleep before I click the publish button.
Good Night,
And
Good Luck.

Almost ready to submit Compo

scrIn my country sunday is a working day :( so I was busy today. But I still made some progress which you can check HERE.
The code is getting extremely messy and bad, I’m already having a headache from reading it, so I ain’t gonna add much more, maybe a win/loss screen and levels with more enemies (heroes).

Good luck to all those who are still coding 😀

Also I’ve got

My job here is done!

So yeah, it’s safe to say I’m done, it’s not much, but it’s still something.
I wouldn’t say it’s bad, the graphics is nice, and there are sounds, but no music though :(

So you play as the evil boss that kidnapped a princess and turned it into a  .
Now heroes are coming to get you, and all you have is a gun.
There is no way to win, but to survive as long as possible.

If you interested check it out HERE
scr2or HERE.

Good luck to all those that are still working :)

I’m in

I wasn’t participating for quite a while now, but now I can finally do a game over the weekend.
I decided to try something new this time so I got familiar with the SDL library and ready to go, my tool are:

c++ – visual studio 2012
SDL – library
Gimp – graphics
pixitracker / sfxr – sound

Goal – make a playable game.
Good luck everybody.
