LudumDare.join();

I think everyone writes some kind of “Hello i’m new here” post, so do i :)

I mentioned a few times on my blog about GameDev competitions, LD and 7DFPS. And i think i’m intrested in GameDev so the moment when i join any competition had to come. So here i am.

Last game i made was breakout about 3 years ago, so i can say that i’m starting almost without skills. But who cares ?:D I’m going to use either XNA and C# (easy to use, but windows only) or Java (portability, portability, portability!). And there comes a question, does anyone posted Java Applet in wordpress.com blog ?

If i do some english gramar mistakes, please forgive me. I won’t get mad if you correct me :) And if there are any dudes from Poland, siemka :)

Cool your setup looks a lot like mine! 😀 I recommend also trying to get some music in there as well! I use Garageband :)

WarmUp, Ecosystem

I think i’ve got basics of Unity and actualy create something playable. Theme i’ve got is “Ecosystem”.

Little creation of my mind can be watched there , site should be updated pretty quickly.

Thanks for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor were just preparing to do some research on this. We got a grab a book from our area library but I think I learned more clear from this post. I am very glad to see such wonderful info being shared freely out there. Leave a Reply

Note to self (and others) about GitHub Pages

GitHub and GitHub Pages are good for hosting web-based games. But they are at least one downside. After commiting an update of site they are refreshing so god damn slow rate (at least mine ;/, about more that 10h, i haven’t mesured it).

But. If you build game with .html file template (like Unity for example) you can commit such bundles on separate branch. Additionaly you can post Atom feed of selected branch on sidebar (update rate is ASAP, it’s rss :) ), and even link to tarball/zip of last commit.

To get Atom widget check this site, and how to embedd on site you can see in my repo, in branch gh-pages.

Cheers :)

I use GitHub Pages for my web apps for exactly the reasons you mention (automatically publishes your commits, is free, and is generally awesome), but the turn around for updates is more like 10 minutes at worst rather than 10 hours.

Yea, they are great for such stuff, i like it but the update time. You can check by commits, last one was like 3 hours ago, and page isn’t updated … i don’t know the reason, maby because of Unity? Dunno, any ideas ? Or maby only i see not updated version … hmm… Anyhow i’ll mail support for that.

Could be something to do with the file size. I use it from HTML apps, which are pretty small. Perhaps because the Unity binaries are larger it takes longer to publish them?

And it has began

So the theme is “Evolution”.

And as i said, i’m going to stream. Actualy i’m streaming right now, there :) You’re welcome to join me on my stream.

Got idea but setting up stuff right now.

Cya in 47 hours.

Progrees in on the way …

So, after getting some sleep i’m going to generate some progress. Some basic stuff like repository, webpage, and basic concept are set.

You can find everything on on github, code and page.

You can also watch my stream on twitch.tv.

BUT

Everything can change evolve :)

Success ? We will see …

The Compo has ended. Game submitted. Ahh …. :)

That was my first LD, so for me is a succes. I had 2 days of fun, and an hour of serious problem. Eventualy everything went well and i’ll describe it in post-mortem. But now the second !!FUN!! begins.

So you’re welcome to play “Bug Hunter Evolved” wich can be found here. I did my best (especialy in art) to finish it and make it fun. There will be more content added.

If you rate thats great! If not i hope you enjoyed gameplay and idea.

Stay tunned :)

I’ve got an idea: The Quest!

So the plan is :
1. Find a hilarious picture.
2. Think of a comment to this pictire
3. Play the game and rate (and/or put comment)
4. Tweet/PM/mail/comment me that combo with tag/subject “LD24CQ” !!

There is quite big possibility for that this pic will be ingame signed with your nick.

How about that ? Huh ?:D

Alright chums, I’m back! Let’s do this!

Leeroooooy… Jenkins!

So i just opened Hackerspace Lublin and wait to somebody to show up. I hope that somebody will show up.

It looks simple:

  • know your theme. Checked. Monster’n’stuff
  • know your tools. Checked. Unity3D’n’stuff
  • know your idea. Uhm … not really no. Need to work on this.
