Cat themed card game - now with rats

As my dear programmers @honest-dan and @brainoid work their sweet little butts off to meet the deadlines, I'm here with my mac n cheese to give you a preview of a couple rat enemies. Don't get too close or they'll bite your nose.

Cat themed card game - now with MORE rats

Keep your little toes covered and your ties tucked in, cause you won't want your momma to see what's let of you after this rat gang tracks you down.

Accepting donations of Good Vibes for my dear programmers @honest-dan and @brainoid who are still at this moment doing their very best.

How to Make an Impressive Looking Amount of Art in 72 Hours

I am thankful for all of the compliments regarding the art on our game, The Curse of Cattenburg! Many have expressed that it seems crazy to make so much art in just one weekend. Well I'm here to tell you how, with just 3 simple tips!

1: Commit to your bad decisions

There is no time to waste on revisions and iterations! Even if you make something that isn't up to your "real" standards, you've gotta have GAMEJAM standards. Commit to what you've done and work through it! You can come back and revise if you have time later.

2: Be as lazy as possible

Yes, I am LAZY. I take as many shortcuts as possible. I liberally drown my layers in filters and effects to save as much time as I can. Making art is hard! I can't be bothered. Let the computer think for you! When applicable, get the programmers in your team to implement effects in engine so you don't have to. That's a management skill called delegation!

3: Reduce, reuse, recyle

Once you've made something, figure out just how many times you can use it again before it gets ridiculous. Don't pollute our earth with new wasteful art assets. Just duplicate them! You can change things such as size, rotation, hue, saturation, and brightness in order to differentiate them from the originals.

So yes we have a lot of cards in our game, but they are all like fraternal twins or uh quintuplets or uhhhhhhh trigintisextuplets. Check out which parts I reused and recycled:

And have a look at this gif if you'd like to see how the character cards came together!

NO BLUES IS GOOD BLUES

Mel_Reaching.png

The dark force Melophobia DESPISES your music! HATES your harmonies! LOATHES your shower performance showtunes!

He ordered every instrument in Pogona to be destroyed in the Silencing, and spread his darkness across the lands.

But three instruments, buried in the earth, remained untouched. Will their owners return to save us from the darkness?

Pogona needs your help, musicians

Village_Night.png

After the dark force Melophobia destroyed all of the instruments and banished music in the Silencing, the land has been overrun with darkness. Without any lights, the villagers are completely unable to perform their daily tasks. Melophobia simply must be defeated, and you are the only ones with music to keep the dark forces away from your lantern. My fine freggy fellows, please assist us in our time of need.

Chillin with the homies

ChillinWithTheHomies.png

It's been a long, long night and the boys are exhausted. One might say it's been an endless night, what with all the dark evil spread by the dastardly Melophobia. Freg, Fregg, and Freggy are taking some time off after defeating spirit after spirit in the forest beyond the meadows. But there is ever more work to be done.

What lies deeper and deeper into the wilderness?

Tile_PREVIEW.png

Freg, Fregg, and Freggy must venture deep into the outer lands of Pogona to find the dark evil Melophobia and defeat him. From meadow to forest, from swamp to canyon, and even the treacherous deadlands. But they can only get so far out before the fuel in their lantern runs dry. Hopefully the villagers can find a way to help them out, so that the light may shine upon us all once more.

Jam Session

JAM session haha get it? Did you get it?? I said the word!

This is a spoiler-free glimpse at the joy you will feel when you save the land from darkness. Your heart will glow. Your love will be veritably iridescent. Go forth and spread cheer.

WE HAVE A NAME

Title_PREVIEW.png

I repeat: we HAVE a name. An entire hour before the deadline! Citizens of Pogona, rejoice!

Meet our heroes, Freg, Fregg, and Freggy, in the upcoming straight-to-VHS cult classic Freg, Freg, and Freggy: The Last Band.
