Second time doing this.

This is my second time in ludum dare, first time round I made my game with unity, this time round I’m hoping to go slightly more advanced and use C++ with SFML2.1 I know some basics with it but have only been using it for a week. I may however change my mind and use the new Unity3d 2D tools as I am yet to try that out. It really just depends on the theme and what Ideas I get for it.

for sprites and any other images I’ll use Gimp2.8 for music I’ll use FLStudio.

Hope it goes well.  best of luck to everybody :)

Obligatory End of day 1 post.

so far in my game I have 2 basic enemies, basic controls and 2 powerups.

My game basically leads you through getting 4 powerups, then at the end you get to choose one to fight the final boss.

all my art is palceholder untill I can think of something better, only the enemies are what I want for the final product.

Tomorrow I will work on the last 2 power ups, the music art and final boss. it’ll be a long day. I’m gonna work a couple more hours tonight to take the load off tomorow, where I can spend most of it on arts and polishing. hope it goes well.

have some screenshots.

I’m in?

I think I’m going to participate, I don’t have much else going on and could use a few days break from my current project.

I’m going to use c++ with sfml with Gimp for sprites/art, bxfr for sound effects and flstudio for music. This is my first time properly using c++ and sfml  for a project(I normally use Javascript and Unity3D) so hopefully it’ll go well and I figure the best way of getting better with it would be by just jumping right in.

Progress Report.

Progress is slower than I’d like , but this is my first time using C++ in a project.

Yesterday I got movement + shooting done, as well as a main menu and some art assets.

this morning I’ve been working on some art for later.

It’s basically an arcade style shooter.

I’m in, probably.

I’m probably gonna be in. depends what I feel like on friday.

In school we’re learning C# so I’m gonna be using monogame, because what better way is there to reinforce knowledge on a language than making a game? well, there’s probably a few, but games are cool.

I’ll be using:

Gimp – art

Monogame – code

FLStudio + bfxr – music & sfx

I’d also like to say I really enjoy the look of this new site!
