Hey guys, this is my first Ludum Dare so I will be using GameMaker Studio for speed. What about you guys? Does anyone have/stick to a schedule?

Hey everyone, this has been my first LD experience and I thought now would be a good time to look back on my creation.

The first thing I did after waking up was scribble down ideas. I decided to go for a 2d scroller puzzle game, as this would be reasonably easy to implement, based on the idea of being trapped in a TV set (inspired by the film "The Truman Show").

As you can see, the overall plot and design aspects did not change dramatically from start to finish, mainly due to having the sketch in front of me for the full 48 hours as reference - perhaps not the best idea as it stopped me taking the game too far from my original concept when thinking of new ideas.

I had also planned to create a soundtrack and sound effects, however this time was used up mainly on graphics (I am useless at art, so this was the biggest time sink, especially the animation). Tip to self: don't spend 3+ hours on little details!

Fortunately my stoneage laptop only crashed 4 times in the whole event (that's better than average while running something like GameMaker for long periods of time), each time conveniently when I was working on something that would have taken too long to add anyway!

Overall I'm just happy I've finally finished a game, even though it's very short and lacks the sort of depth and challenge I had hoped.
