LD 41

What happens when we reach Ludum Dare 48

seriously will we get some kind of celebration or are we just going to pretend that the number 48 has nothing to do with this jam whatsoever

It's 1am here

and I'm finding out that combining a text adventure with a rhythm game using only Unity is not a good idea.

I'm gonna see if I can make some leeway by using Twine for the text adventure parts and Unity for the rhythm game parts.

馃檹 let me live pls

The game is starting to come together

but I still feel it's not ready to be shown yet. (programmer-level art may not here since it's all text-based but that doesn't stop me from making it look terrible :P)

So, I'll just leave my cover art and a bit of the game's music here:

And it seems I've finished my text-adventure rhythm game!

Here's the link!

Things didn't go as I planned and the end product is lacking in many places, the thing that matters to me is that I managed to finish and that I could continue this project after I sleep for a straight week.

Do please check it out as it's only 5 minutes and a rating and some feedback would be much appreciated!

Post-Compo Update!

coverart.png

A game created in 48 hours for the LD 41 compo.

In the land of SONGLANDIA, there lives the minstrel who saved a kingdom.

A text-adventure rhythm game.

Below is the list of changes and a link. If you want to see the original version here it is.

[This is the post-compo version. I am still exhausted so there are only minor improvements. The "s" at the end of that sentence barely makes it as there are only 2 improvements. One is that the intro text has been sped up. Two is that the font I was using did not have the 猫 glyph causing poor Mich猫la to have a single hi-def letter in her name. So, I changed her name to Michela.]](https://jacoder23.itch.io/the-minstrel-of-the-kings-post-ludum-dare)

Unfortunately, unless I get a sudden burst of energy and excitement over updating this game, the many issues probably won't be fixed in the near future.

Unless I make a full version/sequel

A quick feedback form for my game. (I'd be happy to give feedback in return!)

Okay so for now, as I'm not satisfied with my game as it is now (the game if you haven't tried it yet), I'm going to be working on the continuation soon (well... soon enough, there's another game jam that I'll be joining so I'm going to have to set this aside for now).

And I want to get some more detailed feedback from all of you so I made a quick feedback form that you can fill out if you have a few minutes to spare:

The form.

It doesn't ask much about things that I could solve on my own (fixing the scrolling, normalizing the audio, fixing the effects, changing the font, extending the rhythm game mechanic, continuing the story, etc.) and is more about things I can't understand from my perspective (Why do some people like the writing and atmosphere? How come someone said I did good on the sound effects while another said that it confused him? How long is too long of a story? Should I continue this? Does the game feel too linear?).

And if you answer a few of the questions then I'll be more than happy enough to check out your game (doesn't have to be related to LD41 really) in return and give you some feedback. There will be a little form on the bottom where you'll be able to enter you game's URL.
