LD29

My first Ludum Dare!

I’ve always wanted to participate in the Ludum Dare (since LD23), but I was nervous about not finishing in time since I’d never finished a game before, but this year I participated the Global Game Jam and feel like I’m ready to create some games. I really hope it’ll be a cool theme. I’ve been kicking with pixel art and beveled effects (I’m not a graphical artist, just a programmer). I’ve got two friends to follow me along, It’s gonna be awesome!

Check my development blog (I’ll be updating info on my first mobile game, I promise it’ll be good, better than my first pixel art)

Any pixel artists available to help me finish?

I’m working for the Jam, and unfortunately had to scrap the idea I was making and rewrite most of the code I was doing.

My game is focused on two characters and platforming challenges involvolving light

Now, with this new idea, I got some Box2D bodies moving along and a cutscene mode. But I’m still using placeholders. Here’s are screenshot with no lights added (click on them to open on a new tab):

I was wondering if there are any pixel artists or, maybe, some artists with a darker sense of art. Cause I’ll be adding lights, and it will be a little dark game somewhat like Limbo. I’ll need to draw scenarios in front of the player and behind him as well (not sure if there’ll be any parallax). If anyone can follow me on this one, I appreciate, I believe you’ll kinda like the ending.

A Matter of Time Post Mortem

I almost forgot to share my game post mortem. This time I wrote on Medium, you can read it here.

Also, I recorded my entire game dev process, but I have zero HD space to edit a video about it, maybe in January?

You can play and rate my LD entry here! Hope you like it and please leave a comment! 😀
