I really enjoyed participating in LD48. I was honored to work on the soundtrack for How Deep Is Your Love. And I would like to talk a little about how this process went.

As soon as the LD48 theme was announced and defined as the format would be
about the game. The devs soon went through what would be the aesthetics and the feeling they wanted to convey with the
game.
The intention from the beginning is that in the music of the game it had a comic and
fun, but at the same time an adventure game.
The reference they gave me right at the beginning was Rayman Legends and also
Cuphead.
When starting the research on references I remembered the series of games
Monkey Island. That besides being a game with a focus on comedy is a game
with a pirate theme.
So I chose some songs from the game and took them as a reference base.
As Monkey Island is a point click game, different from our game that
is a runner. I used it as a reference for harmony and instrumentation and
I used the other references for the dynamics of the music.

During the act of composing I used another detail of the game. For this if
to pass in Brazilian seas I decided to merge the Caribbean instruments
on Monkey Island with the elements of Brazilian rhythms. Like
Baião, Maracatu Pernambucano, Reggae Maranhense.
