Reporting for Duty!

Hi! Another individual ready and reporting for another sleep-deprived weekend 馃槢

This time I’m thinking of using:

Programming: C# (with XNA 3.1) in Visual Studio 2008

Graphics: GIMP and Inkscape

Sound: sfxr and Audacity

I won’t be streaming the whole thing in video (I don’t think anyone wants to see me bashing my head on the keyboard at 2am), but I’ll be Twitter-ing and blogging various screenshots and such throughout the weekend at (funnily enough) my Twitter account and the davecheesefish Games Blog. Looking at the various themes, I have no idea what I’m going to do yet but it should be fun!

3 Jams, 1 Weekend

As we find ourselves in the unusual situation of having 3 development jams on at the same time, I’ve decided on an extra challenge for myself this time around – I’ll be making one game to fit all three jams in the Ludum Dare 48 hours. Considering the three events are the Experimental Gameplay Project, the Game Prototype Challenge and Ludum Dare, I’ve unimaginatively decided to name this project of inevitable futility…

The Experimental Prototype Dare

(hey, it sounds better than the “Ludum Gameplay Game”)

Tools:

  • Code: C# with XNA Game Studio 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010
  • Graphics: The GIMP
  • Audio: sfxr
  • Hardware: Whatever I can find lying around
  • Food: Nutritional content questionable
  • Sleep: Unlikely

Given the nature of the project, I’ll be centralising my progress reports on my own blog to avoid spending hours cross-posting everything, and posting links and updates to the usual #ld48 hashtag on Twitter.

Is anyone else doing this? I know I’m not entirely alone, McFunkypants was the one responsible for making me want to do it :)
