LD29

I am in for Ludum Dare 29.

This is my first time participating in Ludum Dare 29, so I am obviously excited. I will be using PuzzleScript to produce the game itself, the Game Maker sprite editor to create the graphics (I don’t know why, but I prefer using that over other image editors) and Famitracker to make the music (yes, I produce eight-bit music.) I wish everybody the best of luck.

Sneak Peak 1

I am using PuzzleScript to create my Ludum Dare 29 entry. I think progress on my game is going quite nicely so far, and I actually think I will have more trouble producing the music for it than I will the actual code. This is a little sneak peek of what my game MIGHT look like when it is complete :

Sneak Peak 2

My project is going really well so far. It will resemble typical puzzle games like Tetris Attack where blocks must be adjusted in rows to remove them from the grid. In my game, you must advance through each puzzle stage to slowly travel deeper into a mysterious world beneath the Earth. I decided to not make the actual graphics yet, so here’s a heaping mess of squares and cursors:

I added some of the graphics for my game and I have already designed multiple levels for it. Here is a brief example of what gameplay may look like in the final version of the game (you need to click on the GIF below for it to work):

Sneak Peek 4 (Almost Done!)

So far, all of the levels for my game are done! Now I’m just sprucing up the game with some decor: dirt, stone, etc. After that’s done, I just have to complete the music for the game. For some weird reason, Puzzlescript requires that you publish your song on YouTube and then put the ID into the code; you cannot directly put the song into the game. I need to hurry up and finish the song, but in the mean time, here is another sneak peek of my game so far (those black blocks are bomb blocks; they explode when destroyed, destroying other blocks around them):

Sneak Peek 5

I finally finished my game’s song! Now I have about two hours to publish the song on YouTube, type the Video ID into the game’s source code, and I will be done. I am so happy Famitracker can output songs as WAV files…

World Beneath the Surface Timelapse

This video is very late, but I have been busy lately so I did not have the time to upload it. This is my timelapse of the creation of The World Beneath the Surface.
